Have been looking for one of these for a while. Its features match what we were looking for: automatic sensor, brushed stainless look w/black trim, and narrow profile front to back, without a lot of extra space taken at the rear by the mechanism (in fact none). Can't speak to durability, although it has worked flawlessly for a month, and it seems to be made of sturdy stuff. And you can't beat the price. We're very happy.

Bought this for my mother for Mother's Day. Yeah, I know. Who would buy their mother a trash can but that's what she wanted. A sleek looking trash can that she didn't have to pump with her foot. Found this and read the reviews and thought I'd try it. This trash can is great. So easy to use, so easy to change the trash bags. and great looking as well. Looked around online and in stores and this was the best value by far. Motion sensor works like a charm. Glad I purchased it for her. Might have to buy one for myself!!

It looks very nice and functions well. I do wish that the lid that opens was larger to accommodate larger trash items, but it works. Just can't throw a pizza box in the trashcan.
I got this to replace a trashcan that the lid had broken on. I wished it was more oblong (less oval) to fit the space where I keep it better, but it looks nice where it is. My husband really likes the ring that helps to hold the trash bag in place. He likes it better than our previous can. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a trashcan that is a good value and looks nice.

I really like this garbage can. It is cheaper than the old school step cans, that I was looking at inside the store. So far it seems durable, easy enough for my three year old to use it. And tough enough to stop my German Sheppard/chow mix for digging in the trash. Which is my main purpose of buying this garbage can. The only thing I don't like is the main power switch is on the inside of the trash can, right at the top of the can. For some reason I thought this would be at the backside of the trash can, on th outside. But no big deal. I still really enjoy it.

The slimline profile takes up little space in the kitchen. The "no hands" lid allows easier and more thorough plate cleaning and the novelty means that everyone USES it..... leaving me with a much neater kitchen.

i have had this trash can for about two weeks now and I love it! It looks great and have had no problems with it. Only draw back i have is that it takes a few minutes to install the trash bag inside. But other than that, it's a great asset to my kitchen and i am glad i purchased it. I recommend this product!!

Fits more trash than my nasty old white plastic receptacle. It also does a good job of containing any unpleasant odors. My husband complains that the reaction time of the sensor is too slow..but I think he's just being overly critical - creature of habit always has difficulty with new things : ) . It looks great in our kitchen with our other stainless steel appliances.

Not As Good As SimpleHuman Trash But Beats Price!

I bought two of these one for trash and one for recycling. I needed to replace my wonderful SimpleHuman trash can which is probably the best trash can in the world, but after 3 years the lid on my SimpleHuman step trash can broke (SimpleHuman is notorious for this problem) . The replacement parts would cost over $35.00+shipping and the price of a 10 gallon SimpleHuman step trash can has gone through the roof. The cheapest I found mine for on the open market after spending hours doing price comparison shopping was $109+shipping. If you have a military i.d. you can get the same model I had for $90 at the PX. However, since the problem with the lids does not appear to have been addressed, and I could get two of these for less than the cost of replacement parts and one new one, I opted for two of these. SimpleHuman is now out of my price range and will continue to be unless they slap a 10 year warranty on it.
I do prefer the step can to the automatic opening of this one since it gave me total control and with this one there is sometimes a delay of a few seconds before this one will open. I guess maybe I'll get better at putting my hand in the right place over time.
However, this one is bigger by about 2 to 3 gallons. It takes up a little less floor space because the extra space is accounted for by height, not width. Mine was shipped to me and arrived without any dents. I'd say those complaining of the denting are exceptions since this thing is very well packaged and insulated with foam. It is very attractive. Others have complained that the metal is thin. While it is not as thick as the SimpleHuman, it is not ultra-thin. I don't know what kinds of things people are using it to dispose of that would damage it, it is sturdy enough to handle anything I'd need to put in it, but I only use it for everyday household type trash and I don't intend to ram it with heavy equipment. If I have construction type items to dispose of they go directly in my outdoor can. I am surpised that I do like them and I love the price. I have had them for over a month, use them frequently and have not had to replace the batteries yet. I can see that as being a pain, however I was happy to find out that you don't need to have batteries in the unit to use it. The one I use for recycling does not have batteries in it since I clean things out before putting them in that one so there is no concern about smells. I set it up to stay open and not close. I had initially got the impression that when the batteries run out you have to stop whatever you are doing to replace them if you need to put something in the trash. You don't, you can just gently open the lid, hit the "open" button and it will stay open until you replace the batteries and reset it.
All-in-all, this product is worth the money. I wish that Nine Stars would produce a step can because not everyone is impressed by having a gadget that opens and closes automatically. Stepping on a lever to open the can is no problem for me and does not require batteries. In fact the only thing that turns me off about this product is the autmatic opening and closing of the lid. It is silly and really, how lazy do we need to be? Bottom line, after reading a lot of reviews on all other brands and considering prices, this is what I consider the best value out there these days for an attractive trash can with a lid.

This is a very sleek looking garbage can. We are replacing a similar can that we had for over 6 years. These can run anywhere from $100-$200 in other stores. I was skeptical when I saw this one for so much less... but so far, we love it as much as our last one! The design on this one is nicer as well.
