I have a leather couch which my kitten put a few knicks and scratches on.I bought the Leather and Vinyl repair kit.So easy. It has a chart for mixing colors. Can't even tell that there were ever any scratches....Now my kitten is not in trouble anymore.....

The kit did work on the sleave of the vinyl/wool letterman's jacket. Matching the color took a good eye and lots of light plus some patience in letting the sample dry before applying to the coat. The texture papers were limited in number and none of them matched the texture of the coat but it takes a keen eye to notice; however, the texture papers stuck to the drying mix and also sealed the mix against the vinyl making drying times much greater than the one hour suggested. The tear on the coat may have been larger than the kit was designed to handle but it seems to be doing a reasonable job.

If you keep in mind this is a repair product and practice before hand, it works. If you want absolutly new results, you need to get off your back pocket. It beats having to put out over $1000.00 for a few small cuts in vinyl flooring.

Patches Peeled Off Within 2-3 Weeks Post Repair

I purchased this kit this past Spring to repair three items: our brown leather sofa that had a 2" hole in the seat, the arm of a dark green leather desk chair with a 3" worn spot; and a good red leather purse that had a 1" tear in the seam of it.
Matching colors takes a lot of time and patience. Unfortunately, the tiny containers of each color don't allow you much leeway for mistakes. Because I paint, I did manage to get close to the correct colors eventually. But, there was really not enough of the patching compound for the repairs I needed. What I eventually ended up doing was using the other colors for my initial first layers. It sealed the holes and then I later painted over it in the color of the leather being repaired. You really need a small, good, short-bristled paint brush for this project. In all, I brushed on several thin layers, letting each one dry in between.
I disregarded the instructions to leave the texturing patch on overnight. I left it on for only about a hour, because I didn't want to deal with trying to get a stuck-on patch off. The texture I embossed into the repair stayed, which was what I had hoped for. The resulting patches were harder than the leather they were patching. Not perfect but it was what I'd expected after reading other reviews of this product.
Unfortunately though, the patches all peeled off within 2-3 weeks. Because of this, I feel that this kit was a waste of my time and money.
In retrospect, I'm wondering if all the positive reviews here are from customers who posted their reviews within a week or so after they patched. This review of mine is 6 months post patching.

The product seems to work and was not hard to use. The problem was that all the colors were packaged in the same size little plastic containers. As with most things that deal with painting - white is used in larger quantity than the other colors. The white container should have been a lot larger. They could have used smaller amounts of the other colors. Because of this, I will either have to order another kit just because I need more white to lighten the color. The second problem is that the stuff ends up with a gloss and no instructions as to how to make it duller to match the leather finish.

My dog's nails made several long tears and a number of punctures in a vinyl sofa . I never expected the repairs to be to be perfect, I just wanted to make them less noticeable and that's exactly what I got. The smaller punctures were almost perfect, better than I expected. The color matching was not difficult, just takes a little patience but I got it almost exact. You will need more than one layer. My only complaint is that there is plenty of product but not enough of the grain fabric. They should really add a few more pieces.

I purchased it, applied it.Mixed the colors to match my leather coach color.Looked great.I thought this was it.
2 months later, All the spots I applied got darkened and now it is even worse than before. I wish I would kept untouched my leathers.

Even though I followed the instructions exactly i did not have good results. No matter how many times I tried I could not get the color to come close to matching my espresso colored leather like ottoman. The compound was easy to mix and use but also came off with a sponge a day later and the grain papers stuck to the compound and left behind pieces.

I'm not sure why this product has any good reviews, but I am a very crafty person and this product did not work. I had to repair a very small hole in a vinyl chair and the patched area is very apparent and does not look good. First of all, it is almost impossible to get an exact color match. Also, this product does not have a shine after it dries, so if your repair item has a sheen to it, then it will be very apparent. Again, I cannot believe the other reviews because I ordered this thinking it will work.

i expected more, works OK. It comes with a little sliver of paper your supposed to use to mix and apply, but looks awful. I found using a small paint brush worked alot better
