I think this is a great TV at an outstanding price. I love it. One feature that I really like is the light sensor as I have a bow window and the picture does not wash out. Sony is a great name and it lives up to the name.

Review 64 for Sony Bravia 40" Class LCD 1080p 60Hz HDTV, KDL-40EX400
Beautiful TV for a great price

I exchanged a 46" Sanyo for this TV within 24 hours of buying the Sanyo. Perhaps my positive rating has been somewhat inflated by the grossly under-performing Sanyo, but this Sony is truly a beautiful TV.
The picture is crystal clear, the color is rich, lifelike and vibrant, and the menu and features are easy to navigate and intuitive. Altogether this makes for a perfect set. The only thing lacking would be an extra 60 GHz, but for my purposes the low price outweighs the hardly noticeable lag.
I've owned two lcd sets previously; a 32" 1080p Panasonic, and 720p 32'' Samsung (now in the bedroom). The Sony blows them both away. As a side-note, and a possible credit to Sony's lcd tech, I have a 7 year old Sony lcd computer monitor that's worked perfectly until I finally upgraded a few months ago. Never had any trouble with Sony, and I couldn't be any happier with this TV.
If this is around the price you want to spend for a new lcd set, then you should seriously consider the 40" Bravia.

I bought this tv to not only use as a tv, but to use as a very large monitor for my computer. Great for games! It has a FABULOUS picture. Was extremely easy to set up and hook to everything I needed hooked up to it. The only thing I would suggest is that you hook it up to other speakers of some kind. I'm not impressed with the sound very much. Too tinny, and that was with the bass all the way up. But then again, I've been told I'm too picky about the sound. All in all, it is a GREAT TV...and monitor :)

Bought this TV on sale near Father's Day. Great value for the price I paid. I was a little hesitant at first because of complaints about the sound (and a few about the picture) but to me they were completely unfounded. The picture almost perfect out of the box, and with a little tweaking was as good as I've seen elsewhere. The sound is fine too, though I suppose if you're used to surround sound or a really good audio setup, then you'd notice the difference. But overall, unless you're REALLY nitpicky about things I don't think you could be anything but happy with this purchase.

We bought our Sony today and we love it. Has a great picture for the price. We have always had Sharp Tv's before and this is our first Sony. Would highly recommend this tv to all of our friend's. Now we have a 40 inch tv in the living room and a 32 inch tv in the bedroom. We did a lot of research and the Sony was the right tv for the money.

Bought because it was realy the only 1080 tv i could afford and it was well worth the $673. Ive had it for 2 weeks and have had no problems, remote is easy to use, tv set up remarkably easy, very nice amount of HDMI slots for all your gadgets, and picture quality is amazing. My absolute best purchase so far this year. Shipping was also amazing as it arrived two days ahead of the earliest estimated time..a mere three days after i ordered it.

I PURCHASED THIS TV A FEW MONTHS AGO, AND SO FAR IT HAS PERFORMED GREATLY. THE PICTURE QUALITY IS THE BEST I HAVE EVER SEEN WHEN HOOKED UP TO MY FIOS HD, AND BEING A 60HZ IT DOESNT SUCK UP AS MUCH ELECTRICITY AS A 120HZ OR A PLASMA. IT WAS EASY SETUP, I WAS UP AND RUNNING IN A FEW MINUTES. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TV.

I've owned 4 LCD TV's and this one is by far the best value of all. It's almost 1/3 the price of the a similarly featured Toshiba that I bought a few years ago. The picture quality is great, sound, good, nice features. It's too early to compare to the others because they are all at least several years old - an LG, Toshiba and Samsung. Over time all of their screens have developed lines that eventually stay dark most of the time. The screen in worst shape is the LG. There were visible lines that started to form from outside the crop area for non high def content that over 3 years spread all over. All of the TVs were mounted immediately upon purchase and were in no way mishandled. It just happened over time to all of them. The LG's power supply also failed and needed to be replaced about 3 years after owning it. The lines had already started about 2 1/2 years in. Anyways I had to pay the $150 parts and labor. The LG was my 1st LCD and I didn't buy the extended warranty - I've bought it with every TV since even though the line/burn problem is not covered - ie they don't replace the screen unless the lines started during their warranty. From my calculations it happens just around 10,000 hours of usage.
Owning Sony Trinitrons back in the day and other sony electronics I have nothing but good things to say about quality and service. I had PS2 & PS3 problems and they fixed both for free. Those items were outside of the regular warranty. Hopefully they'll act similarly with their LCDs should something happen but I am not too worried about it.

First of all, I am so impressed with Wal Mart. com. For those of you that might be wary of ordering online, don't worry here. This is the place to order and have your expectations met above and beyond. Now, as to the Sony , WOW! I am still trying to wrap my head around the clarity of the picture. The attention to detail that Sony created with the black case is amazing. I did not think I would like it but now understand why it was done. You cannot tell where the screen stops. There are no visual breaks to your viewing experience. I have owned Sony products for years and have always been impressed by their quality and this television is no exception. Hopefully, this review will help in its' own small way.

I've always said you can't go wrong buying Sony and I still feel that way. The picture quality is outstanding. I rated the sound neutral as mine is hooked up to a powerful Sony stereo system. I chose the EX400 because I'm not a gamer so I didn't need the 120Hz refresh rate, if it makes a difference. Great tv for the price. Only thing I didn't like was that the FedEx guy placed it by my front door without seeing if I was home, which I was. Anybody could have walked off with it except that I live in a small, crime-free community. Very fast delivery though. Made the purchase online Thursday evening, tv was here Tuesday morning.

Absolutely stunning picture on Comcast HD. 60 hz v 120 hz or more, I don't think you can really notice the difference to justify the extra couple hundred bucks. We bought this TV to enjoy the World Cup on a better TV. It is Sony quality. We never had any issues w. Sony products before (we did have minor problems with a Panasonic TV once, and our Samsung SlimFit TV finally started going nuts after only 3-4 years) so we decided this time we would get a Sony TV. We paid $629 at the local Wal-Mart. I think TVs in general are overpriced, however, for this much money today this is an excellent TV.

I've never owned an HD TV, so for the price, this one grabbed my attention. I simply do not know how a bad review could be written about this TV, especially while it is selling for $629. The quality is perfect (you will need to buy your own HDMI cable), and the size is perfect for an average sized living room. Paired with the proven household name - Sony, you can not go wrong with this TV, especially if it is your first HD like it was for myself. Buy it now while it is in stock.

Amazing picture quality and sound. I also purchased a Sony Bluray, both were easy to set up. The Bravia Sync really makes things super easy.
