This is a very nice gate and very well made. Also some reviewers had trouble with the latch, we had none. It is very simple and easy to operate. Here was our problem...MAKE SURE BEFORE PURCHASING THIS GATE YOU HAVE EITHER WOOD OR A STUD TO DRILL INTO. We did not know this until gate was opened and we were ready to install. This gate is heavy because its metal, and it pulled right out. We tried anyways because our studs did not line up right at the top of the stairs. We had to return and go with a lighter weight gate. But if you make sure before hand, then this gate is well worth the money.

Our gate didn't match up with a stud either...so i used a metal 50 lb anchor. Worked great! And didn't effect the gate at all!

We likes theses gates online because they had great reviews. However, not only were they difficult to install, but very hard to open. I have to put my infant son down in order to open these gates with 2 hands, because it is impossible with one hand. I wanted a gate my 4 year old could be independent with, but he can't even begin to operate these gates alone. I'm returning them ASAP.

I would highly recommend this gate. We use it for our dog who is almost 16 years olds and it allows her to stay safely upstairs, but allows her to see out through the rails to the front door. It offers her safety but freedom to still see what is going on.

Bought this to use at the top of the steps in my daycare. I love that I was able to install it very quickly without damaging my baseboard as some other ones would have. My older kids are able to use this gate with both hands, the younger kids are not able to budge this gate! I especially love that it doesn't swing open over the steps. It has a stopper preventing it from swinging whichever way you want to set it. It is metal so easy for me to clean and sanitize. Would buy this gate again.

Needed a gate to install at the top of my steps. I don't have a problem opening the gate but older people seem to have problems. I think they think the buttons have to be squeezed very hard...not true at all.
Overall a good gate for the money and would buy this again.

Very easy to install, looks great and is very sturdy! The handle is easy to operate (open/close) with one hand (while holding a child). The indicator, to verify gate is closed/open, is good. Can slam shut too.

Well the gates themselves appear sturdy the screws that come with it are extremely cheap. They would strip before even halfway in and one screw broke into 3 pieces! Ended up getting our own screws to complete the installation.

I bought 2 of these first, liked them so much bought 2 more... A little tricky to open at first, but after a few times it's easy. These are being used at our church nursery and other rooms with small children. Would definately recommend. Good purchase and a good price!

I Absolutely love the baby safe gate. I actually purchased two of them to put at each end of my wooden deck so that the daycare children would not be able to fall down the steps or get off the deck without me opening the gate. It makes it nice for unwanted guest too because they don't know how to unlock the gate. I would HIGHLY recommend!!!

I was researching the different types of top of stairs gates from different stores and this one grabbed my attention because it didn't have the lip at the bottom and it was a solid metal gate. The price is great. The shipping was extremely fast, I received the gate in under 3 days and I am extremely happy with it. It's a little tough to get used to opening it at first but once you do it a few times your golden. Love the product!!

I was pleased with the price, and I thought it would be just what I wanted. It was wall-mounted (for top of stairs), it had a wide opening, and there was no bar to trip on. But since installing it yesterday it has been nothing but a hassle and a danger. First, the safety clip (that keeps the gate from swing over the stairs) wouldn't go on right because the little button to attach it broke. And I can hardly get the gate open, much less my older kids. Who wants to let everyone in all the time? I'm sad it doesn't work.

We purchased this gate for the top of the stairs.. My sons rooms are both upstairs and we could not really spend anytime up there becuase are one year old was always going for the steps. Most gates say not to use at top of steps so when we found this one we were really happy. We have had it for a few weeks. Really easy to use and latches very nice with green letting u know that it is latched which is very nice. I just wish it wasnt quit so much money. But so nice being able to be upstairs and not being worried.

After reading many different gate reviews, my husband and I settled on this product. It was important to us that the gate was built-in (for added strength), affordable, metal (for strength and durability), and fit our forty something inch space. More than anything it couldn't be tall so our cat could still jump over it (as she is a little on the hefty side and can't fit between the bars) to get to her food, water, and bathroom. This gate meets and exceeds all expectations! Because we have trim molding halfway up our walls, my husband had cut out wood the same shape and size as the piece of the bar that touches the wall so we could actually put the gate up. The gate came with a metal piece that he took to his shop and traced, it was very easy. We used a stud finder and mounted the gate accordingly. Even though the two studs didn't line up across from each other, my husband had mounted the gate on a very slight angle, hardly noticeable. We are very thrilled at the durability of this gate! It looks very nice. It's very high quality. The gate swings both ways very easily and the handle combo is very easy to use with one hand! I also could not open the gate if I only pushed down on the handle and didn't push the button. Everything on this gate is just as the product description. I would recommend this gate for anyone that has these dimensions. The best part is there aren't any extenders so the gate actually fit's all sizes in between. We didn't use the gate at the top of the stairs, we used it in our hallway/entryway and we couldn't have asked for anything better! Most of all, it still cost us less than several gates that were made of plastic!
