Review 2 for Poulan 14'' Electric Chain Saw
Okay Saw for the Price

I bought this Poulan 14'' Electric Chain Saw #Model No. 952802357# at the local Walmart store. As this saw requires oil and none is included in the box, I also bought Poulan Bar and Chain Oil at Walmart. I read the user manual in its entirety before operating the saw. I noted that the chain was over-tightened at the factory. I loosened the chain and filled the oil reservoir with the Poulan Bar and Chain Oil. I used this saw to fell and limb #the user manual has good instructions on how to do so# the "main" branch of a partially dead tree. The tree was 7 3/4" inches in diameter at this point. #The side branches were still living and were about the same diameter so I left them even though the tree looks a little funny now.# The saw cut well even considering its small size and power. My only experience with chain saws has been with small saws but I would GUESS that a larger more powerful saw would have cut through much quicker. The oil reservoir is very small and I had to add oil twice while limbing the tree. Considering the price #$47.97 + tax#, I was very pleased with the saw after felling and limbing this tree. After finishing, I placed the saw on the floor in my garage. The next day, all of the oil had leaked out of the reservoir and onto my garage floor. I don't know if this is a design flaw or if my saw was missing a gasket. If you can live with the oil leak and small oil reservoir, this is a good saw for the price. I chose to return this saw to Walmart and look for something that doesn't lose all of the oil from the reservoir while not in use. The user manual shows the extension cord requirements as follows: 25 feet at minimum 18 awg, 50 feet at minimum of 16 awg, and 100 feet at minimum of 14 awg.

I expected more from a Poulan even if it was a small electric saw. It is fairly quiet, but that is the best I can say for it. It cut tree limbs slowly, and I found myself trying to help it along by moving the chain back and forth like I would a non-motorized limbsaw blade. It does dribble oil on the chain, which is better than having to do it yourself, but it will make a mess every time you set it down. The chain gets hot and loose after about half an hour of use, so you will need tools to tighten it near you. Sort of like cutting fresh bread with a dull knife. I just needed to clean up some limbs a recent storm blew down, so it served my purpose and I do not regret buying it. It was cheaper than paying someone to do it, and it was a little easier than using a hand saw.

The button used to oil the chain is the filler cap. Doesn't appear to be working as expected. It should have a separate button to oil the chain to see oil on the chain. Otherwise it works good. Cuts wood ok with no problems.

I would deff recommend this too people that want to do some tree branch trimming and dont want to purchase a gas chainsaw. It worked great right out of the box. Just added some bar chain oil and grabbed my 50 foot extension cord and had some fun outside (man fun :D lol). This saw did more than just cut limbs 8 in. diameter size ones, It was also used to drop a full size tree too the ground leaving the stump about 3 feet off the ground. The tree was about 25 feet - 30 feet tall. It worked great! As long as you make the appropriate cuts and notches, then cut the tree the rest of the way from behind, it fell too the ground with a big THUMP, all by a little electric chainsaw! I was impressed! Just make sure you have enough cord too get around with :D. Again, I WOULD recommend this too anyone needing a cheap saw that would do the job time and time again. Always make sure it has oil in it, it went thru oil kind of quickly, but its ok, Id rather have an oily saw blade that stays cool and doesnt wear the teeth down as quickly.

This is a nice chain saw, but the only thing I have an issue with is that it leaks oil while not in use.

This saw, for the price, is unbeatable. It cuts through 6-8 inch diameter branches like butter. Surely a great Christmas present!

I purchased this saw to trim bushes that were too thick for my hedge clippers. I am a 5ft tall, 56 year old female who had never used a chain saw before. I couldn't believe how easy it was to handle and how fast I was able to get done with my trimming. I had read other comments complaining about the chain coming off and was a bit unsure about making the purchase. The instructions clearly explain that you must watch the tension on the chain and adjust it frequently when the saw is new. I adjusted it twice during several hours of cutting and never had any problems. I can only assume the other users failed to read the directions and the saw didn't operate properly as a result. After finishing my bushes, I cut two 10 foot tall trees down to about 4 foot tall. I had no problem cutting the 8-9 inch trunks with this saw. One of the best purchases I've ever made!

Review 17 for Poulan 14'' Electric Chain Saw
Great for light home use.

I had my doubts about this saw but paired with a 100' cord it is great for light work around the yard. Sure it isn't what you want if you cut trees for a living but it handles even 12 inch branches with ease. It is not weak and cuts just as strongly as a good circular or table saw will cut when using them as a comparison for electric saws. The light weight also makes this saw safer than a heavy gas unit when cutting high branches.
