Absolutely loved this book. Watched the HBO series too and enjoyed that but the book has so much more detail. It's a fantasy adventure story in a medieval world. I'm currently reading the 4th book in the series. The characters are complex and interesting, the lineage and history can be a little overwhelming but it is much easier reading for me than the Lord of the Rings was (never got through those).

I do not read very often, but still, this is one of the finest novels I have ever read. It's a mature epic fantasy, where danger is all around, and none of the characters seem to be able to do for anything but themselves. Political backstabbing, gruesome punishments, and even humor are part of this story. I can't wait to read the next one, and anyone who likes the tv show will love this book!
