We originally bought the Munchkin brand gate and absolutely hated it. It was so difficult to put together and the directions were terrible (and was about $15 more). The evenflo gate was so simple, it took less than 5 minutes and is very sturdy. The only tool I used was a level to make sure it was straight, other than that, no tools are necessary. Easy one handed opening mechanism and just swings shut. I was so happy with this gate, I bought a second one for the top of the stairs.

Not my favorite gate. Found it hard to open with one hand. Going to need another gate for the same size doorway and won't be ordering this one again. Do like that it opens both ways, but not that you have to push it shut to lock the gate.

I bought this gate because it had excellent reviews, swung both ways, and was half the price of the Top Paw gate we now have. We're using gates to keep our pets confined, not children. My only complaint about the gate is the difficulty in opening it. You must press in both buttons at the same time while pressing down on the handle. If you have small hands, it's very difficult. I can't imagine trying to do this while carrying an infant or toddler! We keep the gate unlatched now so we don't have to deal with opening and closing it. The dogs will jump on the gate, but they jump against the door--the latch on the door keeps the door from swinging in. We can come and go. If you want to keep children safe and don't care about ease of opening/closing, this is the gate for you. I can't imagine a toddler being able to open this!

Bought an evenflo walk thru gate 4 to 5 years ago the style of the handle has changed some but this gate is very strong and lasting. After quite a few moves and the abuse the gate took from 3 kids shaking it and such. The gate has taken all the abuse it can and I'm replacing it with the same type. Evenflo really did wonderful job with this product.

I reviewed several gates online before choosing this one. I like that it came with an extension that would accomodate our space. Most of the gates were too small and required you to purchase extensions. This gate took just minutes to install. We bought two and use them at the top of stairs. I am impressed with how sturdy and secure they are!! I did not want to ruin my walls with hardware-mounted gates and was skeptical of the saftety of pressure-mounted options. After having these up for several weeks I have no concerns about my childrens' saftey! I am very please and would highly recommend this product!!!

We bought the gate to keep our granddaughter off the stairs. The gate was very easy to install after reading the instructions. I do use both hands to open the one-hand latch, but I think a person with larger hands would have no trouble. The gray color of the gate blends perfectly with our walls.

One of our dogs has separation anxiety issues, so we need to keep her out of the bedrooms when we are not home. But we didn't want to keep the bedroom doors closed to reduce air circulation (we live in Phoenix, air conditioning is VERY important!). This gate works perfectly for what we need. It fits snugly in the doorways of all bedrooms in our house and allows air flow while preventing our needy canine baby from tearing stuff up.
I'm sure we will love these gates even more when we have human babies around the house, too!

Would not recommed using this at the top of the steps for a toddler. We used the gate for a dog, it worked well until we moved from a trailer w/ a narrow hallway to a house with wide hallways and needed the extra width.
Once we put this piece on the gate seemed to bend where it connected and then the metal piece that connected the 2 piece broke.
Used about 6 months before move.
Used less than 3 days after move.

This Evenflo Easy Walk Thru Metal Gate is a Great item. It can be used to keep children in a room or out of a room, we use it to keep our little dogs in a certain area and it works great. Sure beats walking over the old style gate and almost falling down. I would highly recommend this item and the price was great the shipping was almost nothing and it arrived very fast. I got this gate after my son fell over our old one because he had climbed it. Love how this gate is so easy to open for all of us who should be able to open it, yet it is sturdy enough to keep my little 16 month old out. It was pretty easy to set up too.

I purchased one of these gates just to see how easy they were to install and how well they worked. It took me about 15 minutes to put together. I love how easy they are to use and the fact that they click shut if you just swing the gate shut. I loved the first gate so much that I went on line and ordered two more. The gates are easy to open and they do a wonderful job of keeping my small to medium dogs out of places that they are not welcome. I highly recommend them for anyone with pets or kids that they need to protect.
