I have several pair of these that I bought many years ago & they're still in like-new condition! Most socks this style stretch out and end up too big on my feet to the point I have to "tuck under" the toe portion in order to get my foot into my sneakers. Not these! They've held their shape through multiple washings and are still very soft. No pilling, either. These socks are also the perfect thickness...not too thick or too thin. Love the colors they come in, too! My only complaint is the price...$2/pair seems a bit steep, but I'm willing to pay it because they're the best socks I've found.
More of these are on my Christmas wish list this year as some of mine have disappeared through the years (have daughters who liked them, too)!

These are not the material of the bulky white socks.
Yet, there's plenty of material there to handle sneakers. And, they launder well. No pulling or piling. Love the colors. Socks do not ride down in the back. Very comfortable.
