The Okuma Travel Rod is the ultimate rod to pack as you head off on that exotic fishing trip. The rod comes with two different action tips, allowing you the versatility to fish different scenarios depending on what fish are biting and the condition you are faced with. The innovative and extremely durable Europeon Spigot ferrule design on the Nomad Rod has been tested, giving you all the feel and power of a one-piece rod that comes in three sections for easy transportation. Nomad saltwater rods use top quality components such as ALPS 316 stainless steel guide frames with Zirconium inserts and two tone anodized aluminum ALPS reel seats. All Nomad rods come with a waterproof carrying case that will hold your Okuma Rod securely and will easily fit above your seat on the plane.
I bought this rod because online tackle shops had very good ratings for this product. After receiving it, I couldn't disagree. It's a beauty and was very balanced and ergonomic with my Avet HX reel mounted on it. Even though this rod has a light to medium light rating, it feels much more stout. Except for big tuna and black marlin, I don't think there's much else I'd be afraid to use it on. First use will probably be in Cancun this coming April, that's why I gave four stars now. Hopefully I can remember to post an update after that. Best part is Walmart's price was hands down the best I found, Amazon wasn't close. The shipping charge was so low, it actually competed with free ship to store for pick-up. This really gets your attention when you see it.

Will not use the rod for another month but out of the box appears to be good quality. First Okuma rod for me so do not know to much about them...they get good reviews and the 3 piece travel saltwater rod looks like it can rip some lip....looking forward to trying.

Review 3 for Okuma Nomad Travel Rod
Great rod

With airline travel getting harder and more of a hassle, this rod is great for travel. No oversize charges, as it is small enough to carry on. I bought the light-medium light casting rod, and it is very well made. The guides and rod seat are made for long life, case is a really nice addition. Ferrules never needed any adjustments or tightening in a week of saltwater fishing.
For the $104 USD price tag, this is an exceptional deal. I will likely buy another, and my fishing buddy has already ordered one!

Well I haven't had the opportunity to use it yet. But it is a beautiful rod, the case is very nice and I can even fit my Cardiff 400 reel in the case with the rod. Yes the ferrules don't seat all the way but they lock in tight which is what really matters to me. All in all great product for the price

You are getting a two rod set up because of the two tip options. I have used it in Florida, Texas, Georgia, Maryland & Aruba. It easily manages fish up to 72 inches long. I have caught Dorado, Amberjacks, Wahoo, Sail, Snook, Mackerel, Kingfish, Sea Trout, Stripers, Bone Fish, Lady Fish, Snapper & Bass without problem. These rods are top quality with the best guiders & reel seats in the industry. They are impervious to salt. I pair mine with a Okuma Cedros 55 & 60 Bait Runner Reels & high speed reels! I also use Cortland Masterbraid on them with Seguar Carbonflouro leaders. offshore perfect & great for offshore top water casting with pile on fish! I have both the casting & spinning versions.

Review 6 for Okuma Nomad Travel Rod
awesome rod for sw fishing from boats

This rod is massive and has plenty of backbone. It can be a downrigger rod as well as a cast and retrieve. The rod looks attractive with the blue anodized seat and butt. The $180 price your paying for is the quality of strength while being able to break apart into 3 sections and carry on vacation trips. At the end, I decided not to keep it because don't fish from boats too often and the price is too high for using it only once a year.

I can't speak to the performance of the rod it being Frebruary in New England but the fit and finish is excellent with all ferrules tight and a nice carrying case.
