Riddell EVX 45Y Gear Shoulder Pads are flat pads with all the features needed to provide protection and mobility required for all-purpose positions. Included with the Riddell EVX Youth Shoulder Pads are 1/2" front deltoid pads, 1" PVC belts and 1/2" elastic straps for adjustable comfort. These medium Riddell Youth Football Shoulder Pads are easy to adjust and feature extended arches for greater coverage and streamlined caps for optimum range of motion.

These pads run large so I recommend ordering a size down. I bought my daughter a XS and they were still too large. She was currently wearing the Riddell Evolution pads in a XS which had gotten too small for her so I wanted something with a bit more protection. These in an XS were a bit larger than I wanted. We ended up getting the Riddel EVX skill pads which are the same series, but have less bulk and a backplate. This allowed her to move her head freely. A friend bought these from me for their son who was a bit larger than my daughter. He is RG and these are working great for him. I love the protection they provide and they fit without rolling around on their shoulder like the pads the team provides.

You get what you pay for. Son is going into the eighth grade and plays running back and inside LB. I wanted a set of pads for maximum protection. On appearance these pads are much more substantial than the standard issue for middle school players. They are similar in construction to the high school players pads, just scaled down for smaller players. They don't appear to restrict his movement in any way and the little bit of extra weight is offset by the comfort and protection provided. My son loves these pads. He's happy, and I'm still surprised you could get something as obtuse as shoulder pads from Wal-Mart. Especially top of the line shoulder pads.

It's football season! So I started ordering equipment early. My son is 7 and so safety is first. I like these shoulder pads..very good qaulity and compared to other shoulder pads these are far far better with padding. They run a little small so I would suggest going up a size for your player. The price is decent also...I took him to the local sports store to get fitted and the shoulder pads (which were decent) started at $115.

Great pads, worth the money

I agree with the other positive reviews. These pads are several steps up from the league issued pads. It was amazing to me that I finally got them from Wal-Mart given I originally ordered them directly from Riddell but they could not get them to me, out of stock. I would recommend these pads for any youth football player that is on the aggressive side and likes to hit. The extra protection for the extra money is well worth it. I also added a back plate to the pads. My son plays RB and FS, two positions where late hits to the back are common in youth football and the back plate provides protection for these types of hits.

Riddell- great product for Walmart to carry

I tried for months last year to purchase these pads for my son but everyone was out. It was great for Walmart to carry these pads at a great value. I don't know if Riddell sells them for less. My son was hitting hard enough that he was starting to get stingers with the team issued pads. These have put an end to that. The extra padding is well worth the money. I would highly recommend for any youth who is actively engaged in games. Btw, these pads fit big; a large w/ some brands might equal a medium w/ evx-45s.

Riddell is the industry leader in football equipment. The company invests in innovative R&D to create the safest and lightest equipment manufactured today. The EVX 45Y resembles the best professional shoulder pad on the market. As a parent and a coach of a youth football player, I am confident that this pad offers the best protection on the market for the youth athlete.
While seemingly expensive compared to other pads in the market, it is impossible to put a price tag on my childs safety. Furthermore, the professional pads that this product is similar to can cost the high-school, college and professional athlete more than $500.00.
Great product and great safety for my son.
I also reccomend the Riddell Biolite Vent Air 7 piece body pad.
Please look at the Riddell website for excellent product information. There is a distinct difference between the EVX 45Y and EVX 18Y and this website has the same image for both products.

Nice product. Seems to offer larger coverage area in the chest and back than other pads I looked at. Padding is excellent. Fits securely. Also, very impressed with Walmart on-line. Product came promptly and communication through the process was good.
