I do lots of research on things before I purchase anything. This disposal was the best bang for my buck. It was one of the few with a full 5 year warrantee. It was a snap to install, be sure to use plumber's putty on the flange. The only negative is that it is noisy, but since it is run for such short periods of time at a time, I'll live with it. All in all, it's a great little machine.

Worked out well that my old one fried. I now have new counter, new sink, new plumbing(highly needed), and new faucet. Beautiful now. Just needed a reason for it all to happen.

I replaced the leading brand name disposer, 3/4 HP, that lasted just four years. What a steaming piece of junk. Looked around at various reviews and found the Waste King highly rated by individuals and reviewing blogs.
Two things I really like about this Waste King unit: it is QUIET, much more than any disposer I've had in the past, and installing it was so easy! No more struggling to hold up a heavy disposer with one hand while you grapple turning the mounting ring with the other (or using a car jack to hold it up). This thing was a cinch! I'd buy if for the mounting technology alone.
I have not had it installed long enough to comment on its longevity.

So far, so good. Easy to install, and is much quieter than expected. The last disposer (different brand) started to leak after 2 years, so I hope this one won't do the same. At least this one has a 5 year warranty. The previous one had the ability to manually turn it in case it got jammed. This one lacks such function. Hopefully, we'll never need it.

So far so good. It is very quiet. It is only 1/2 horsepower, so not as powerful as my previous 1/3 horsepower insinkerator, but it does get the job done. It you are switching to this disposal from an insinkerator be warned that the installation may be a bit tricky and more labor intensive. Otherwise, the end-product may be worth the work.

And can't turn on while letting the water out of sink or else it makes the worst noise you ever heard. Was disappointed it is made in china but for a small disposer it is ok. Have a septic tank and only use it for getting rid of particals that escape the strainer.

This is a great buy. I installed it in about 30 minutes. I used the tailpipe from the previous disposal to avoid having to make any cuts or alterations. It is quiet and works well. Seems well built.

The one thing that this claims is that it is sound insulated. Now I realize you have some noise with a garbage disposal, but this makes horrible noise. Once it was installed my husband said I am not taking it back out. so now I am stuck with a garbage disposal that sounds like I am grinding up rocks.

I was able to install this product in about an hour. Most of that time was spent in removing the old disposer and cleaning up the mess from it. Since I have a stainless sink I used the gasket provided and everything went very well. The product works great and is much quieter than my old one. I would recommend this product to anyone.

Great replacement disposer. Simple directions and easy to install, even though I had to adjust a few of my pipes under the sink due to it being a bit larger in the middle (sound proofing). Super quiet!! Great value for the money.

Great value from Wal Mart. This unit replaced a good unit available at other big box stores that lasted several years. This unit installed easily and it has higher RPMs, all stainless components, and a much better warranty. It was a no brainer. The only downside was that I had to wait a few days for delivery which is not a bad downside.

The Waste King L-2600 1/2 HP replaced a Insinkerator Badger 5 1/3 HP Garbage Disposal. The Badger lasted 8 years. Installation was simple with clear directions, changing the unit from a/c plug to direct wire took a few minutes. Based on the 5 year warranty and quality construction of the disposal, I feel like it will be a good value.

We have had an Insinkerator Badger 1 since the builder installed it in 2005 when we bought our house. I have not liked it since day one. In 7 years it has never leaked but has had trouble grinding food. It would just bounce stuff around and vibrate the whole sink. I finally got tired of this and started looking online at a possible replacement. I found this Waste King Legend 2600. I read review after review and finally decided to purchase it. It came in last week and it took me about 45 minutes to uninstall the old Insinkerator, clean the sink, and install the Waste King. I am not a plumber, just a "Do it Yourself'er". I took my time checking and double checking everything. I have a double sink and did not install the black 90 degree drain tube. I reused my straight drain pipe that was previously there. All of my plumbing lined up perfectly making the transition and I didn't have to buy or cut anything. I have a stainless sink and did not use the top rubber gasket. I used plumbers putty. Rubber gaskets will dry rot and leak over time, plumbers putty will not. I do like that it has stainless steel grinding components and a plastic housing. That means neither of them will rust. After installation, we have used it several times and it is SO much better than the Badger 1. It is quieter, and with the 1/2 horsepower motor, it grinds things that would jam up our old badger. In some reviews I have read, people complain that it has a smaller opening than the Insinkerators and food doesn't "fall through" like their old Badger's, and part of this is true. The opening is just a tad bit smaller because the splash guard is removable and can be cleaned. I'll take that trade off. Food NEVER just "fell through" MY old Badger. We had to use a spoon or fork to shove it down. I am a machinist by trade and with this new Waste King I cut about 6" off the end of a wooden broom handle and turned some grooves in it to make it look "fancy". After sanding, staining, and a little varnish, it looks pretty good. We now keep this by the sink and use this to shove food down. In closing, I highly recommend this Waste King Legend 2600 disposer because of how quiet it is, how fast it chews through waste, ease of installation, and the 5 year in home warranty.
