I've only used this mower once so far, but was very pleased with it. Easy to set up right out of the box. I'm mowing about 1/3 acre with some significant slopes. The grass had not been cut in one month (new house purchase) but this mower took all that high grass with ease, almost bush-whacking in some places. I did have to stop mid-way for a battery recharge, but I think under normal conditions it could do the whole lawn on one charge. The mower is fine to maneuver and now to heavy to push - good exercise anyway. Only at the very end on the steepest slope did I draft hubby in to finish the job. I also like the easy height adjustment for grass length.

Review 2 for Black & Decker 19'' 36-Volt Cordless Lift In/Lift Out Mulching Mower CM1936
I wanted to try a battery-powered mower. It is quieter than a gas-powered one, but still makes a lot of windy spinning noise. The battery lasts to mow my whole 100 x 100 foot lot on one charge. I have not yet tried to cut wet grass. It is so easy to start, and to adjust the height. I especially like the height adjustment, with just one lever to do it, rather than changing the height on all four wheels separately.
Some reviews say it is too heavy but I have no trouble moving it around, even on my inclined front yard. Most of it is made of plastic, which makes it lighter. I am a bit worried about banging it into tree trunks too hard though, so I try to be careful. I was not so much with a metal body mower.
I am most disappointed with the clippings collection into the bag, as in it does not do it well at all. I prefer to bag my clippings. For some reason the clippings do not shoot into the bag. For a short period into the middle of my second mow with this product, I did manage to collect half a bag of clippings, but I am used to having to change the bag on my previous mower at least four times just for the front half of the yard. Plus the bag on my previous mower was twice the size of this one. No wonder it came with such a small clipping collection bag. However, I do not have clumps of clippings left on the lawn, just a few thin rows where the grass was extra thick and tall, so it must be doing a good job of mulching what it cuts. Also, it just does not suck up leaves.
If you mulch grass, go for this mower. If you bag, look elsewhere.

MET EXPECTATIONS OUT THE BOX

My granddaughter (12Yrs) assembled what needed to be assembled taking instructions from my husband(sometimes acts 12:o). We have a 150x100lot with a 44x30 home in the middle basically. So, I first tried it on my doggie yard, small strip of 15x15...had gotten pretty high for the furkids waiting on the mower, it worked perfectly, not problems. You have to charge the battery to full so, put it on overnight. Then, I did the front yard, probably 60x80 area on same charge...still went right through it, Loved it! No gas, no oil, no pull cord...AWESOME! Then, a week later we went out to do the whole yard. The mower finished the front yard again and the sides but, did start to lose power after just starting the back but, it didn't have a full charge when we started so, I thought it did very well since it had already cut puppy and front yard once and did so again before running out of juice. So, I'm very happy with it. The frame folds up nicely and I sweep off, rinse wheels and let dry then, kinda like a dolly, roll it in the house (no shed yet) and store in closet. I Love it. Battery is a bit heavy but, I can lift with both hands and move around. Might be a bit much for someone older so, might be better to charge while in frame. I have a pretty level yard so, didn't need/use the self-propelled a lot. Overall, I'm very happy with my mower and will see how well it lasts and performs over a gas model, one of which I never had a preference. I definitely recommend, especially if you are in a mode as we are, trying to reduce our footprints.

Purchase was easy using walmart.com. The mower was delivered to a local Wal Mart store a few days early. I was surprised to find this mower was manufactured two years ago, in 2010. The mower was easy to unpack and set up for use. The charger is easy to connect and charge the battery. The mower is light weight therefore it is easy to push. The right front wheel was stiff and did not roll easily. The instructions recommend that oil not be used since the bearing surfaces are plastic. I applied some graphite to the wheel and hope it works better as it gets used. It is a good fit for my small yard, about 0.2 acre.

Review 5 for Black & Decker 19'' 36-Volt Cordless Lift In/Lift Out Mulching Mower CM1936
This mower managed to handle my 1/4 acre lot on a slope, with some tall grass, with no problem. I love the way it starts at the push of a button, and it's quieter than a gas mower. It's a little hard to move around with the weight of the battery, but not that bad once you get used to it.

Review 6 for Black & Decker 19'' 36-Volt Cordless Lift In/Lift Out Mulching Mower CM1936
Purchase was easy. Assembly was simple and easy to perform. Charging the battery and operation was simple. Worksmanship was less than expected for the price. The mower is lightweight and easy to push. However, the right front wheel did not turn as easily as the other three. The factory assembly of the wheel seemed to be slightly improper which caused the wheel to stop turning when mowing at times. Perhaps it will work better as it gets used more. I like the mower height adjustment as all four wheels adjust at the same time so the blade should always be level. The mower seems to be well suited for my yard size, 0.2 ac, as one battery charge was more than sufficient to mow the entire yard. I was disappointed to find out the mower had been assembled for two years when I opened the carton. That is not what I expected for a "new" mower.

This little mower greatly exceeded my expectations. It cuts thick, high grass and a good deal more than 1/3 of an acre on a charge. It is light and easy to use. You have to slow down a bit when the grass is over 6 inches high, but it really hangs in there. I was able to cut my whole yard when the lawn hadn't been cut in 3 weeks. Excellent product.

My second DOA CM-1936

I REALLY wanted this mower after reading good reviews of it...and made a total of 3 attempts to purchase one in working condition! My first purchase was at my local Walmart in Dulles, VA...one of two in the store that was brand new in the box. 'Got it home, charged up the battery, and found that it would not turn on at all. I brought it back to the store, noting that the other new in box CM1936 had also been returned by someone, and was now open box. Thinking that there had been a small bad shipment of these mowers, I ordered one through the ship-to-store option, waited a few days...and then went to Walmart in Sterling VA to pick it up. I ended up returning it on the spot because it was not only open box, but looked like it had been kicked around for a while. Thinking that Walmart had received a bad shipment, I bought one through Target. It was shipped to my home....and was ALSO an open box that had definitely been opened and tested more than once...and yet had a NEW SEALED charger enclosed. I charged up the battery...tested the mower...and found again that it was dead on arrival. This time, I called Black and Decker to let them know. Curiously, they did not attempt to diagnose any problem or suggest a fix...they just took my information. Anyway, I have given up on this mower and have ordered a Worx 36 volt unit. Conclusion....it appears as though an absolutely huge shipment of these CM-1936 mowers were delivered to retailers throughout the Mid-Atlantic area in July-August 2012 that were faulty and dead on arrival. ..and if you think it might just be me, visit a Walmart in the mid-Altantic area. If you find a CM-1936 on the shelf, I GUARANTEE it will be an open box item that has been returned.

I never thought much of electric mowers, but I got tired of the hassle of my gas mower, so I bought this one, to give it a try. -- I live in FL so most of the time our grass is somewhat wet. This mower does a great job. I bought the optional side discharge chute. The battery holds up well and this is easy to start & stop when I have to move something. My yard is average size. - All Good --- --- I am impressed ! -----------

Outstanding in every way. This is my first electric mower. Easily mows my 1/3 acre lot on one charge. It's very quiet compared to a gas mower, though not as quiet as I supposed it would be. Because my mower lives in a tool shed, I have to remove the battery and bring it indoors to be charged. That's a bit of extra work but much less of a nuisance than a gas mower (trips to the gas station, filling the tank each time, cleaning the air filter, changing the oil, etc. etc. etc.) This machine was expensive, but if more people bought these things the price would come down. I'm never going back to gas-powered.

This works awesome; have only mowed 4 times now and does the job as expected and then some. Nice clean even cut. It may slow down a bit in really thick grass, but no less than my last 5hp mower when it hit those sections. The bag does not seem to get a lot of clippings, but as long as it's not leaving a trail of cut grass, which it is not, I don't care. I would buy it again.

Good Luck Finding Replacement Blades

I've had this mower for a year and needed to replace the 18" blade...but wal-mart doesn't carry any blade smaller than 20". Why would they sell a product like this and not stock replacement blades for it? Lowes and Home depot also don't carry 18" blades. So hope and pray you never have to replace your blades...good luck finding replacement parts.
But other than that I love (loved) this mower. Kinda pricey but not having to throw my back out trying to crank it (push button start) is priceless...as is the low noise of this thing. Can mow at 4am and not have to worry about disturbing your neighbors. And no oil or air filters to change! Now if I can just find replacement parts!

I love it and it is o easy for me to . The battery stays charged a long time. I was a bit skeptical when my son said I needed to get this but after trying to start my old lawnmower I thought why not. I don't have to run to the gas station and I don't have to worry how much oil to use. It was easy to manuever and cut the grass great.

Easy to push, cuts great, easy to set cutting height, does just as well as my Honda I have for backup which is gasoline powered. I would have gotten the self propelled model if I knew it was available. I ordered the optional side discharge chute which is inexpensive. That's what I use all the time and also, will come in handy when grass is tall. Less back pressure on lawn mower, than trying to mulch and force clippings into the ground. It's just a no brainier! My sister and my nephew both have bought one and love it too for their yards. The deck can't ever rust out. Just can't say enough good about it. Walmart had the best price too!

I can't believe it's a Black & Decker!

I admit I bought this machine largely because of the brand name. I have several other B&D devices that I like, but it's hard to believe that this mower was designed by an engineer instead of an interior decorator. The grass bag slopes down toward the mower at a fifteen-degree angle. Gravity being what it is, virtually no grass made it into the bag. Instead, grass quickly clogged up the (5-inch wide) discharge opening, backed up into the mower, and filled the mower until the motor stalls. This process took about one minute, even when I raised the mower blade to its maximum height and used silicone spray lubricant. Mowing even a small amount of grass required stopping every minute to clear the grass that backed up into the blade. If a lawn mower can't cut an inch of grass, it's not a mower. I was embarrased to use it in the first place, because it looks like a child's Big Wheel, but took a chance. I returned the product and I'll go back to my push mower.

With exception of charging the battery, this was ready to go out of the box. It did a GREAT job on the lawn. I bought this because I have a small lawn and I'm one of those people who never remembers to get gas when it's time to mow the lawn. Also no more bad/cheap gas screwing up the carbs on the mower making the engine idol high...then low....high...then low..etc. So far this is awesome.
