This rack works perfectly fine! Take your time setting it up on your car. I mounted the thing on my 2010 nissan altima using the alternative #2 setup. after i tightened all straps it was solidly on attached to the car. All of these negative reviews are coming from people who obviously did not take their sweet time setting it up right. I used it to carry a steel frame bike (schwinn paramount), a hardtail bike, and an old diamond back bike frame set (without the wheels, to meet ~100lb limit). I drove 50+miles on the fwy. If you need a rack and dont want to spend much. Get it!

This is a Great Bike Rack BUT the tie down cradle clips are JUNK.. We have only used the bike rack 3 times and We have broken 2 clips.. When going to the web site to buy some new ones to replace the broken ones We were shocked.. The price of one is $4 "which wasn't the shocking part" and the shipping and handling is $4 also.. And the more you order it goes up $4 dollars every time "This was the shocking part".. So one clip will end up costing you $8.. Not Cool.. We love to bike different trails and if the clips keep breaking like they do We are going to have to look for one with METAL clips.. The Bike Rack is a great fit to my car and I absolutely love how easy it is to set up, take down and store but.............. Yes, there is a BUT here.. I tried to find anyone that sells cradle replacements with metal clips and YEAH, that was impossible.. I also tried to find a way to contact Allen Sports, NO Email Contact.. So I guess I am going to have to call them on Monday.. If you are looking for a good bike rack to mount to you vehicle I suggest you do your home work and find of all the pro's and con's before.. I did but I guess I didn't research hard enough.. I'm guessing that if you aren't going to far, this is the perfect bike rack for you but just use bungee cords to help hold down the bikes like We have to now.. I hope Allen Sports corrects this problem and when I get ahold of them on Monday they will be able to help Us out..

I have never owned or used a bike rack before. My kids recently got bikes and love to ride, so I got one for myself. Setup was easy, and the instructions were clear. First use was a 115 mile ride to Grandma's to show off. I was glued to the rearview mirror nearly the whole trip but all was perfectly fine. My bike has a larger frame but it didn't seem to be a problem. Put a girls 20' bike on first, then my 26' bike, then my son's 20' bike (alternating direction of bikes per instruction), all was well and secure during both trips. Short trips to biking paths nearby shouldn't be a problem. Oh - I put a gardening work glove on the pedal closest to the car...not a scratch anywhere. As long as you aren't driving like a maniac everything should be fine- even at 80 miles per hour on a highway.

This is an amazing product for this price. I had no trouble with installation. The key is to read the instructions before anything. Three bikes will fit nicely if you take the time to stack each one the opposite way. And don't forget to tie the front tire of the first bike with the extra rope. Makes all the difference!

Could not get the bike rack to fit tightly enough and then the rubber parts made black marks
on my white car. Maybe we just didn't know what we were doing. Anyway, it was returned. I'll wait for a couple years and get an SUV and just plop the bikes in the back.

My van didn't have a trailer hitch, so I held off on buying a bicycle rack. When a trip came up on short notice, I purchased this carrier. Not only does it do a great job, but it saved me the cost of buying a trailer hitch and having it installed. The fit is universal for a LOT of vehicles and the installation is extremely easy. Keep the box because when you're done, it disassembles as easy as it went together and fits back into the box for convenient storage. This is great value for the price!

I was looking for a way to spend more time with my children and I love to ride bike but hadn't in a long time because of where we live, there are no safe bike trails anywhere close. I am a mother of 5 and a grandmother of 10 and one of my older children suggested that I look into buying a bike rack and joining them on their bike rides. So one evening after dinner that's exactly what i did and have spent many evenings and afternoons since then riding bike with my family. Please keep in mind that not all bikes are made to fit onto the rack easily and I had to come up with a good way to put my little girls on securely but once that was accomplished it was a breeze.

This is great for the everyday biker. However, I found that not every bike will fit. If you have a bike with a large/wide frame then it's not for you. Any other frame will fit perfectly.

I purchased this bike rack for three bikes, one adult bike and two child bikes. When I attepmted to add all three bike the rack appeared to bend under the weight of all three bikes. However, it worked well with two bikes. Also one of the plastic cradle broke after only one use. I will be returning this item.

We tested out the Allen 3 Bike Rack this weekend on a trip across state. Easy to install onto our vehicle (Honda Civic Sedan) Our two bikes fit very sturdily after coaxing the holding arms into our admittedly awkward shaped, rather heavy frames. However we needed to use the two outermost fittings as the one closest to the vehicle didn't provide enough spacing. Very easy to secure even thick framed bikes. Great value,would recommend to friends.
