Vizio razor a good bet

I very much like my Vizio razor. I have had it for over 6 months and find it to be a wonderful bedroom television. The picture is clear and even though I do not have hdtv through my cable provider, it offers an hd version of the channels. I am told hd would be even better, but what I get is quite nice - and I refuse to pay the extra money for hd service. The sound quality is lacking, so I got some external speakers and that really helps. The 23" screen seems huge and I like the idea of the energy saving LED. Overall I am impressed, and will consider another Vizio should something happen to my living room set.

As advised in a number of reviews of this HDTV the the sound from the built in speakers is of poor quality. What can you expect from speakers about the size of your thumb ? When the set is mated with the VIZIO Sound Bar available from Walmart using the optic cable connection common to both the HDTV and the Sound Bar, the sound goes to a suprisingly high quality. All other aspects of this unit are of a superior rating. I am very satisfied with this purchase with the exception of the remote control which is not up to the quality of the rest of the set.

Now I'm a novice when it comes to tech like this especially when you consider this is my first flat panel TV. Was living in the stone age until now. I saved a lot of money though by waiting. Anyway, it was surprisingly easy to setup thanks to the clear instructions. Consider Vizio for my next unit for the livingroom. While the speakers are understandably tinny sounding at high volumes, the Vizio VSB200 Sound Bar took care of that and can't wait to get my subwoofer. It will be a mini-theatre in our master bedroom.

One thing I should have looked into before I purchased this TV site unseen. It is best viewed in a room with no direct sunlight. Screen glares and you see yourself and other reflections. Picture is incredible on a cloudy day or at night. Should have checked to see if it had a non-glare matte screen.

Not bad for the money.

This TV is great for the money, if it works correctly, mine has serious over-scan issues at the top if I watch any average HD channel in 1080i, which is the resolution of the majority of the good HDTV programs.
720P shows fine if you set the TV's aspect ratio to normal, then the picture only fills about 3/4 the TV. Anything High Def set to full screen will cause about an inch of the top of the display to flicker, and it is very distracting when watching something. There is a firmware update for the TV, not sure if it fixes the issue because you need a USB/flash drive formatted in FAT32 in order to update the TV's firmware. Maybe the over-scan issues are just due to a faulty set, regardless I am returning this & spending a couple hundred more for a 42" Plasma, Walmart has a nice one for right under 600.00, it may be twice the money, and use twice the power, at least the picture will have a lot more contrast, and I should not have the annoying over-scan issues.
Don't get me wrong, if my set is just a faulty one, & if you have the stuff needed to upgrade the firmware, then for the money it is a nice TV, perfect for a bedroom as long as it is going to be withing 3-6 feet from your bed, 3 feet being optimal, any further & it is harder to make out some things without straining your eyes a little....

Glass panel big plus for people who have kids. My toddler can touch it and not damange the screen. The power light is a little bright at night. And for everyone who complained about the remote, u really need to aim it at the power light not the center of the tv. Love the moniter part of it as well. Great TV!!!

What I Expected, And That's Good

The many reviews I read about this TV raved about the picture quality, not so much about the slightly tinny sound. I followed another reviewer's advice and changed to the "rock" setting and that helped. If it really bothers me, I'll get some exterior speakers - they don't have to cost that much. All in all, I'm very happy with this purchase.

We bought this as a Christmas gift for my husband's mother. When we set it up, the color was way off--everything was saturated with blue. We tried adjusting, but so far nothing has helped. I have found some calibrations on the Internet that we are going to try during our next visit; if this doesn't work, we will be returning the product and will find something else.

I have owned the TV for 3 wks. Purchased to be used with a new computer with HDMI connection to graphic card as well as a tv for guest room. Love having access to the internet as well as the wonderful picture quality with both HDMI and satellite tv. Was amazed at the variety of connections available making it so versitle. Extremely pleased with purchase. Only wished there were HDMI monitor cables provided with purchase.

Will be exchanging my Razor due to some dead pixels and what appears to be dull LED's on the right side of the screen. I attribute this to receiving a less-than-perfect unit that may have been damaged during shipping. Otherwise, I like this set, the style and the thin profile. The speakers are poor (as I expected) but I also purchased a Vizio Soundbar to receive optical audio rather than use the built in speakers.

The Vizio came well packed and was a breeze to set up with easy to understand instructions. The controls on the screen all worked but the remote did not function. After a call to customer support and some futile attempts to make it work they promised to send a new remote. within a week they had sent me THREE new remotes! I offered to send the excess back along with the non-functioning one but they insisted i keep the extras for spares and throw the bad one out. GREAT SERVICE!!

This tv was a perfect purchase for my guest bedroom. It is very thin and fits on top of a table. It's of good quality. (i've only got it hooked up to a cable wire from the wall). The quality is what I expected and it was easy to set up. The only thing I didn't like about it was the bright light that stays on all the time (the on/off button) I had to cover it with a piece of tape to keep it from lighting up the entire bedroom at night.
