Reading all of the reviews prior to assembling were extremely helpful. Especially using a muffin/cupcake pan to sort the screws, etc.
It did take 4 hours to assemble but taking the time to carefully read the instructions & watching a little bit of the video was helpful too.
Except for the desktop itself all the parts were properly labeled.

Not worth the price

I'm disapointed overal in the quality of this piece. Although the flamica looking table top has shown no sign. The varnish over the press board is showing excessive wear after just one month of ownership. This will not hold up long term as the entire unit is press board.
Also, it does take quiet a deal of time to put together working w/ two. In addition, it's easy to strip and damage if not extremely careful. Just plan an entire day and remember when you go to return the unit. It has be broke back down and w/ some sort of miracle, placed back in the box- if you change your mind :)
Next time I'll buy real wood, made to last.

I couldn't be happier with this purchase. The desk looks much more expensive (if you don't look closely at the cardboard back panel that comes with all of these kinds of desks). Honestly, you can't really tell. I looked and looked to find a desk that had a cubbie for my laptop & docking station versus a PC tower. This works perfect! PS - I did pay someone $50 to put it together for me, took him 4 hours from box to in my home office ready.

Very heavy package for particle board construction

I must a mitt that I was aware of weight of this package, and I was prepared for it. but someone along the Walmart routing to my Store was not. Two of the corners of the box were
crusted, and it does not take much, to damage inside parts. I decided it was not worth the effort to repack, reload, and transport it back to Walmart for the returning process. I will know better next time. Product is good, and I recommend it. Color is OK. Don't accept any packaging that shows damage when it comes to particle board construction parts.

Larger than my old desk, lots more space and the Marble top is painted to look like Marble but, it really is nice! Good Quality but, Sauder has been making good stuff for a very long time!

nice, heavy and pretty sturdy desk. Took spouse over 4 hours to assemble it but we were happy that all the pieces were there and nothing was damaged. Very impressed with how well everything was packed and the box actually had extra strong cardboard box guards all around the box so it would not damage box or contents during shipping.

Damages, wrong hardware and missing hardware

The desk is very nice except it came with some dings. There are 2 anchor screws for one slide missing and one of the slides came with 2 right hand pieces. I had to use my table saw and a wood chisel to get the two drawers together. Poor Quality Control!

We purchased this desk and put it together a few days ago. The actual desk (and matching bookcase) are darker than the on-line picture shows. However, we LOVE this desk. It is very solid (and heavy) with quality components and it is beautiful. Putting the desk together was quite a process....my husband is a general contractor and he was surprised how long it took to put it together, but there are a lot of pieces (hence the solidness of the finished desk). Luckily, the bookcase was MUCH easier to put together (which I did by myself). I would definitely recommend this desk.

Over the years I have bought about 10-12 new computer desk and I was always
very pleased with them. This one was disappointing and I am sorry about it.
I have difficulty opening and closing the drawers, it seems to easily peal on the edges,
scratches easily and I had to make the holes for wiring bigger just to get the computer
plug through. These problems may not bother anyone else but I had high expectations
for my new desk.

fell in love with it! I was ready to purchase until I saw the dimensions for the
computer screen area... My iMac would not fit by less than an inch.. I started
looking for other options, but none of the other ones beat this Sauder desk. I
decided to purchase it and just go with it! The only downside to this item is
the weight of the box, it's extremely heavy! It took 3 people and 4 hours to
assemble. Once assembled it looked beautiful! The granite on the desk gives it
an elegant look and overall it's a sturdy desk. My iMac didn't fit in the hutch
area, but regardless of that, it worked for me- the desktop work area is big and
it was not a reason to return or exchange this desk. I am very satisfied with
this purchase and would highly reccomend to others.. See photo attached. :)

I need some size information under the hutch. I have two 24" monitors, for both of them the height is 17 1/2", please let me know whether height wise monitors would fit under the hutch.

I bought this online and read all the reviews prior. On a scale from 1-10, I'm about an 8 as far as furniture assembly goes...thought this would be a piece of cake. The directions were fairly clear, but the majority of the holes were pre-drilled at an angle, making it impossible to build a level structure. It took completion of the entire system to realize that none of the drawers/door/computer tray line up. I called Sauder for direction and they offered to send replacement parts, but the entire desk is defective and needs to be replaced, which they would not do. I called Wal-Mart and explained the situation and they said they would issue a complete refund if I bring it back to the store. Now comes the fun part of returning a completely built, defective unit. Don't make the same mistake as I did - THIS IS NOT A GOOD PRODUCT!!!

The sliding drawer for the key board fell in the floor the second time i tryed to pull it out. also i thought for 349.00 it would be real wood not press wood !! I should not have had to drill holes in the desk top to assemble. one of the wheels on the slide broke off. This desk looks great on line but is very cheaply made. I would not recommend this desk to anyone.

The one thing that I hate with this press-wood furniture is the cardboard back that you nail 100's of little bitty nails in with. For the price of this thing, would it really cost much more for the manufacturer to give the buyer a 1/8" luan plywood stained back which (1) would more durable and (2) look a heck of alot better. If you aren't using the pre-scored wire knock outs pass throughs it really is quite noticeable considering two of those knock-outs are at eye level.
If you plan on putting your CPU in the drawer designed for this be aware that with the door closed, heat will build up as there will be very little air circulation. I ended up taking the door off and now I've got to find some dark finish to apply to the particle board holes left from removing the hinges.
This thing does take a long time to put together, in my case about 5 hours. The color of the desk is much darker than what is pictured - a dark walnut type finish. It looks fine but was much darker than what I thought I was buying.
One last thing is to be very carefull putting this thing together as the finish easily scratches. I found that out after assemblying the drawers and needed to adjust the height of the drawer guides and when closing the door for fit the door front hit the frame and rubbed the finish right off.
All in all it's a typical presswood put together cheaply made piece of furniture. If your like me and plan to change out your computer desk every 5 years or so then it should be OK. If your expecting this thing to be used day in and day out and last longer than that then your wasting your money.

The desk looks great,it's exactly what I was looking for. It took me about 4 hours to put together and the directions were good. My laptop fits perfectly in the small shelf above the drawers just like a was hoping. I would have given it 5 stars except the color is a lot darker. It's not close to a Maple it's a dark brown. It being darker still works for me, but if you want a Maple color, this desk might not be for you.

Great looking desk and everything fit nicely together. One step requires the buyer to finish drilling six holes in the "marble" counter top (which for fake marble looks pretty nice) to attach the hutch which seems like the manufacturer could have done, but if your not going to attach the hutch I guess it makes sense not to have holes in the top. Color is darker than picture but thats what I wanted. I'm handy with tools and this still took around 4 hours to put together but I really think the extra time was worth it because I love the desk.
