A highly entertaining dual biography, primarily of Julia Child's postwar experiences in Paris and New England, experiences which resulted in the publication of Mastering the Art of French Cooking and the TV series The French Chef. Second, the movie tells the story of Julie Powell's creation of a blog that describes her attempts to cook every recipe in volume I of Child's masterpiece.
The two stories intersect beautifully.
Meryl Streep is superb as Julia Child, with Stanley Tucci adding just the right note of restraint as her husband. As Powell, Amy Adams has never been more charming. Don't miss the supplements, which add value to the viewing experience.
