I purchased this elliptical less than a year ago, and have already had significant issues. With only moderate use the left foot pedal has broken off, and the other pedal has come of it's base. When initially purchasing an elliptical I had thought well of, and had good product name association with, the Schwinn brand. However I have been extremely disappointed with the product quality, and we will not look to purchase any products of this brand again.

I am extremely pleased with the Schwinn 420 elliptical. I feel safe using it due to its sturdy construction. It is easy to use and to program. My husband had no trouble putting it together. At first, it looked daunting, but the directions were clear and the packaging of bolts and washers was outstanding. I would definitely reccomend this exercise equipment for people of all fitness levels. Only drawback, it is larger than I had expected.

My husband, who is 6'3" and 300 lbs, bought this for himself and uses it daily. After about a week one of the barrens went out, but he just called the Schwinn company and they gladly sent him out new parts. He loves it and says that it really gives him a good work out, and is very easy on his joints! I should say that my husband is very muscularly built and is not considered obese by his doctor, so this might not be a good pick for someone who is considered obese to start out with.

used the ship to store option. box was too heavy for us (2 women) to lift so we removed elliptical from the box with the help of a walmart assiciate and put into the suv. got it home and found it very easy to put together. instructions were very easy to read and understand.

After 27 years in the Army and an old Tanker my old knees where stating to take a beating and was looking for something to take off the stress and still get a good work out. After my last tour in Iraq I was using one of these to hlep out and found that it was good workout and seemed to be the next best thing to running on the road, it did not hurt my run time at all and even seemed to hlep it some. So I looked and did a lot of reserche on price VS QA and came up with this one. I have had it for just about a month and gave it a good work out. So far it has held up to me and that says a lot. I am 6'2 and around 205 pounds and I am not easy with my work out equipment. Just ask my treadmils after several thousands miles they give out. But so far so good on this and I see no reason the way it is built for this one to give out anytime soon. I did not go for the fancy fan or the MP3 player so saved a few hounds bucks, I wear head phones and got a floor fan works just fine. Orderd it from Wall Mart for the free shipping on site to story and saved some more money and also got the two year service plan, anthoer thing I leard my lesson on the hard way spend a little extray and if you have to have it will save you a lot of time and money later. Hope this helps someone

Schwinn 420 Elliptical
Found this product at a different department store for $447 plus tax but thought my comments might be helpful (sorry Walmart...I still spend $1500/month at your store anyway)...
All parts were included and nothing seemed to be damaged or scratched. I took a complete inventory before assembling it though, just in case. It took about 3 hours to assemble but only because my 4 and 6 year olds were "helping"... Could have done it in about 45 min without them. Thankfully, I own a nice set of torx drivers (in conjunction with my cordless drill) because the provided wrench was worthless and time consuming.
My first work-out was just that, a WORK-OUT! The machine was dead quiet too. Everything seemed to be operating as planned and it wasn't much different than the $2500 version at our local health club. Kuddos to Schwinn so far!
Cons - no cup holder, no cooling fan, no backlit display
Worth the money though...If something breaks I'll be sure to post again...

I read the review in Consumer Reports. This elliptical is rated best buy. Purchased on walmart.com for less than price in consumer reports. Had it shipped to store. Picked up 10 days later and assembled it by myself in about 2 hours. Real easy to assemble. It justs takes a little time. Super quiet and solid construction. I have been a treadmil person for years but since owning this elliptical I will never go back. I use it 3-4 times a week for 30 minutes at a time. I a am a male 180lbs. This machine is solid. I love it.

My first elliptical, been working out on a treadmill for years, surprized on the difference between a treadmill and going to an elliptical. On an elliptical you don't seem to work as hard but you get a tougher body workout, I can feel working my abs and my lower back. The Schwinn 420 is quiet and strong, I picked it cause the majority of the parts are metal instead of plastic. Took me 1 1/2 hour to assemble, I suggest a 6 mm allen head socket and ratchet and a 13 mm socket to speed up the assembly process. One thing I didn't think of is how high off the floor you stand on it, I have low ceilings and I stand 5' 11" tall and the top of my head comes in 2 inches from hitting the ceiling, also I plan of saving on my home heating bill this winter by turning the thermostat down and working up a sweat on my Schwinn 420, what better way of saving money and working out at the same time?

I purchased this elliptical for my girlfriend a month or so ago. She absolutely loves it and uses it nearly every day. I had it shipped to a nearby Walmart store and I picked it up from there. The employees helped me get it into my car and I was out in less than 10 minutes. It took me about 30 minutes to assemble with the help of my girlfriend's brother but I would not have had any trouble doing it alone (Just be careful not to tighten the nuts too much before placing the parts together). The instructions were very clear and simple although I did receive some extra nuts/bolts which confused me a bit (I suppose they are spares). The elliptical is VERY quiet and glides smoothly. The HUD leaves something to be desired but it does its job. It's nice that you can store your profiles on the machine to track your goals. I would say works really well for household use. It does tend to shake a bit from left to right if you're tired and not using proper form so I would be careful if you're a bit on the heavier side. Anyone under 250lbs should be just fine I would think.

I had to get rid of my treadmill due to joint issues. Transitioning from a treadmill to an elliptical took some time, but it has been great. I loved my treadmill, but this is a great alternative. Also, I am 5'5" and this is a great stride for me. The only thing I am still getting accustom to are the handlebars. It is an awkward length for me. I recommend looking through all the instructions first then putting it together. It is very quiet. Needs a drink holder, but I was able to create one for it. I use it 4-5 times a week.

Hate this thing. I was told they are easier on your joints than a treadmill but this thing kills my hips and knees even if it's unplugged (no magnet working)! Wasted a lot of money here.

A very nice product, good packing and quality. I assembled it in about two hours, went together with no problems. Though it doesn't have all the bells and whistles, the quality makes up for it. Most of all, the shipping was free at Wal-Mart.

I have really enjoyed this machine so far! It is sturdy and very quiet! I assembled it myself without any issues. I have been using it about 5 days a week for several weeks and have no concerns. I have also used a commercial elliptical machine at work and I actually prefer the positioning of the foot pads and hand bars on this machine. It has exceeded my expectation!

Ok I consider Myself handy but this took Me (alone) about a day to put together. But now that it's up and running I'm loving it. Nice height, very accessable since it's next to My bed and quiet. I don't wake My son when I get up to get My work out going. When putting it together since the instructions has more pictures than words it took extra time to realize ther cotter pin had a catch on the foot bar assembly also a screw fell out while I was moving it into position. Customer service was great at fixing this problem. Programing it is also a challenge so I just use quick start and keep time on My tv or lap top. Overall I'm glad I bought it. At 5' 7 it works perfectlly for Me and the foot pads are so soft if I want to go slow without shoes I can but for My big work outs I have to add shoes or it get's slippery.
