This Oster Digital Microwave Oven is a wonderfully reliable kitchen appliance that heats food evenly and quickly. The Oster microwave oven has 1200 watts of total cooking power and 10 variable power levels for customized cooking. For added safety, the stainless steel microwave oven even comes with a programmable child lock that prevents unsupervised use. The Oster Digital Microwave Oven measures 1.4-cubic feet and is large enough to accomplish many cooking tasks. The Oster microwave also features a pull handle making it incredibly easy and smooth to open and close.

My son purchased another brand for a gift for me but it didn't fit where my old one did so I picked this one based on size and brand. I have only had it for a month but I use it every day; 3 - 5 times a day. My only concern is the door latch holding up. My 6 yr old one had a push button type latch that I had no problem with but all the new models I checked had complaints about the button getting stuck so I am hoping I don't have a problem with the latch on this one. I did notice some comments about this one sliding around due to its weight but I haven't had that problem. All in all, I very happy with how it functions and how sturdy it seems and hope it lasts as long as my old one.

Powerful and works like a charm. Just remember to leave lots of rooms for it on your counter! Also, it comes across as pushy if you set the timer or cook something then don't retrieve it right away...it will continue to beep at you in intervals until you address it :)

Quit working after 20 seconds

I have never written a review before, but I felt I should this time so others could avoid having to return one. I've always had a built in microwave but the house we are renting now doesn't have one. So, I did my research, checked reviews and this Oster countertop microwave was what i wanted. I've never had trouble with an Oster appliance. I ordered throught Walmart.com, it was the same price at Home Depot, but I like doing business with Walmart. I got it home, plugged it in, set the time and put in a cup a water to test. Set for 30 seconds and it just shut off after about 20 seconds. No lights no nothing. Had no choice but to return it, which is a real pain. No more Oster products for me. Wal Mart accepted the return with no problem, which was great. I bought a new Hamilton Beach for $65 and it is working great so far. I hope this helps.

This product woks just fine so far, it's fairly quiet and heats food well. The only draw back for me is the overly loud beep when food is ready and when pushing in food cooking time with number pad. The beeper is just a bit too loud. Otherwise all is going well so far.

Dead in 7 months

I bought this Mircowave in May 2012. I liked the design and size. It worked fine. Then one day 7 months later, in January 2013, I put something in it and pushed the start button, the turntable started turning and it ran the requested time and nothing, just as cold as when I put it in. I tried it a few more times, then tried it with a cup of water, and it was as cold as when I put it in. Seven months!!!!! I couldn't believe it. My last mircowave lasted about 25 years before it stopped working. It was a Sharp. I went through all the requirements for a refund consistent with the one year warranty. And its a lot they put you through, but surprisingly when I called the warranty number, they didn't seem surprised, they just told me to take a picture of the sales receipt, take a picture of the label with the serial number on the back of the microwave and cut the cord and send a picture of the cut cord and the back of the microwave where the cord had been cut, fill out thye form and send the digital pictures as attachements to an email address for a refund. I did that on 1/14/2013. I was told 4 - 6 weeks for a refund. Well today is 3/18/2013, and I'm still waiting. I called today and was told they are behind on sending out refunds because of volume of requests and it would be about 2 more weeks. Unbelieveable. I would never buy anything made by Oster again. Unfortunately, I bought a toaster and blender by them before the microwave died. The toaster toasts unevenly and the blender is making loud noises when running. They make junk and they know it.

Took it out of the box, plugged it in and it started running by itself. Turned it off, set the time and it seemed ok until later that night. When heating the baby's bottle it did ok, but kept running after turning timer off and shutting door. Kept doing this each time it was used. Returned it the next day. This was our first and last Oster product.

I replaced a 2-year old Magic Chef 1200 watt microwave with this Oster, also rated at 1200 watts. Pros are that the Oster is good looking; basic and simple to use; easy to clean in and out.
Cons are as follows:
Wattage: I doubt very much that this microwave is 1200 watts. My last one, also 1200 watts, would bring 2 cups of water to a boil in 2 minutes, 15 seconds. The Oster takes well over 3 minutes. This is closer to the 700 watt microwave at the office. What gives? Maybe not a big deal to some, but I get upset when companies do not advertise truthfully.
Noise: Beware potential buyers, the very loud and very annoyingly long beep when the unit turns off would wake the dead.
If you are looking for a good looking microwave and the wattage discrepancy is not an issue, then this is a good buy and has gotten many good reviews.

We ordered this unit for my daughter and son-in law who have 2 small children, and the convenience of a microwave is invaluable. (theirs had just broke). We were pleased with the online service and overall shopping service of WalMart. The microwave arrived quickly, and we were quite pleased with delivery! The unit has a nice look about it! However the first time and consecutive few times that my daughter cooked in it...it developed a heavy moisture on the front door between the glass! So we boxed it back up and have to return it....what a hastle! Hopefully the return will not be a problem, as we've already been inconvenienced.

The only thing I've found that I don't like is that the door is hard to shut. You can't shut it quietly, rather, you have to slam it to get it to catch. Otherwise, great microwave. It's not too loud when cooking and has a good look. Also doesn't take up too much counterspace.
