Well worth the money,

I have compared the pictures taken with this Samsung SL 105 12mp against some taken with my 8 & 9 megapixel cameras. Is there a big difference? No. However this camera has a lot of plusses. The screen is bright and easy to see. It almost always gets the exposure right. My favorite feature is the ability to pause during movies. I have not seen this before. This is great for making video clips of baseball games as you can shoot just the pitch coming in, and not the pitcher spitting and generally malingering around the mound before throwing the ball. One thing I don't like is that you cannot access the various modes (including video) without going into the menu. My other cameras have an outside knob or dial. Also, I wish the proprietary battery was of a more common type. I like/dislike the machined aluminum front panel. I looks nice and makes it easier top hold the camera. But, it also likes to pick up lint and whatnot. I have a lot of cameras of all types (like 600+). This one works well and the colors are neutral and accurate. Did I mention that it only cost $74.00? One caution though: I would strongly advise that you NOT use the form fitting case that comes bundled with this camera. The camera occasionally turns itself on by static electricity from your hand being close to it. I had a Sanyo that did that and it was in a tight case and the lens tried to extend and ruined the camera. I would keep it in a loose fitting case with plenty of room.
In response to the first review, of course it didn't do distances well, it only has a 3x zoom. I sell cameras and recommend at least a 5x zoom for shooting any distance event. <10x is even better.
The pics on this were sharp. I bought Mom one and I want one too. Better than Kodak.

I bought this camera for my wife. We are bought novices with digital cameras. We have only used the auto mode and we are delighted with the clarity of the pictures and how easy the camera is to use.I would highly recommend this unit

I have never had a digital camera before. I was worried it would be hard to use. Very easy to use and takes clear, quality pictures. Great camera at a great price!
