Worth The Money
02/08/2010
I was just looking for a simple process of transferring data from my Sony camcorder to DVD. There's basically no setup, just straight out of the box and plug and play. I've used the writer several times and not experienced any problems with the writer or the quality of the DVD's that I've made.

Not What You Expect
09/07/2010
I bought a Sony SR68 to use with the DVDirect. The DVD played in our DVD Player but the quality of the picture was bad on the TV and through the camcorder. We returned the SR68. We bought a Sony CX110. The quality of the picture was great through the camcorder, on my computer and directly hooked to the TV. BUT I couldn't get the DVD to be recognized through our Sony DVD player and my computer said it wouldn't work with Windows Media Player.
I went to AVS4U.com and downloaded a converter. It worked. I was also able to convert my MP4's from my Flipshare with perfect movies.
So I took the camcorder and the DVDirect back to the store and got my money back.
Sony-I'm really disappointed in you.

Use the directions in your camera book for instructions. Then get a child or teenager to set it up.It works that way.My 13 year old had it setup in no time.Good videos.I did not set up on computer. Works great on DVD player.

Pleased so far...
06/15/2010
This product is super easy to use and so much easier than going thru the computer. It's well worth the price and a good compliment to my Sony SR68. Now the high tech world just needs to figure out a way to keep adding videos to a dvd without it being so complicated!

The Sony DC SX45. A Great CamCorder For The Money.
08/19/2011
Before purchasing this CamCorder I did a ton of research and comparison's on the internet. Since this was to be my first Cam I really didn't want to invest a lot of money in a lot of bells and whisles that I wasn't sure I could learn to use. I also decided against an HD recorder, not only because of the difference in price with an HD model being anywhere from $100 to $250 higher in the models that I was looking at, but also because I am not totally convinced that the HD videos are that much better than the non HD videos, especially if you don't have high quality HD playback equipment. I only paid a little over $200.00 for this little camera at Walmart.com. It arrived at my store in about 5 days and I could not be any happier with the choice I made. It is a great camera and has all the features that an amateur like myself needs. The videos and the sound's are chystal clear. The "Steady Shot" feature is amazing, as are all the features on this camera. Even handheld it is possible to record very steady zoom videos up until the last 1/3 of zoom. After that it would probably do fine if the camera was mounted on a tripod. The only downside of this camera that I can find is the short battery life with the battery that is included in the box. I bought a larger capacity battery online for about $25.00 plus shipping and although it adds a little more weight to the camera when installed it is really not that noticeable. You will have to buy an SD card for this unit but that is true with about any camera that you buy no matter if it has built in memory or not.
I also bought the the Sony DVDirect recorder for a little over $70.00. Just plug your CamCorder into a 110-DC outlet with the provided power cord, plug the recorder into the cam, insert a DVD-R or a DVD+R into the recorder tray and in about 5 minutes or less depending on your file size you will have a recorded DVD that will play on almost any DVD player. No having to download all those file to your computer.
I haven't used the picture taking feature so I can't vouch for that but I am sure that it will give just as good results as the video feature. You can't go wrong with this CamCorder for the price. I highly recommend it as an entry level device.

Awesome
06/22/2010
My brother had gotten it first, and once I saw how much he liked it and how easy it was to run...I had to get it. I'm very glad I did. Couldn't be easier. Plug it in, add the disc, plug in the battery charger into your camera, follow a few directions and wait for it to copy. No computer, no programs, take it with you anywhere. Love it.

I would highly recommend this DVD writer to anyone. Simple to use (push of a button) and instructions are easy to follow when hooking up the DVD writer.

Nice Product

This product is extremely easy to use, and it makes a really clear DVD. I wish I had bought this product a lot sooner than I did.
