You can dry spices, herbs, jerky, fruits, vegetables, and potpourri quickly using the Oster Food Dehydrator. It features a high performance heater in the center that offers even and optimum heat to dry food items faster. This electric food dehydrator comes with four adjustable and removable trays that help you to simultaneously dry different items. Its clear, vented lid allows you to easily monitor the state of drying without disturbing the process. This home food dehydrator comes with an electric fan that works to circulate hot air across the compartments and lessen drying time. Both the lid and the trays are dishwasher safe for easy maintenance. Further, the convenient one-touch operation makes it easy to use.
Well I got the dehydrator today (11-19-10), after getting it home and started my deer jerky that has been marinating for the last 2 days my house started to smell good and the jerky is getting done pretty quick too. I would like to let everyone know that if they are interested in making jerky this is the best one to get. it might look cheaop due to the low cost but it makes up for it in the quality of jerky it holds on the trays. Get it while supplies last. Trust a US Navy Veteran who knows a few things about quality equipment.

Unfortunately I did not keep the receipt, because when I bought this product I did not open it until a month later. I had read many reviews saying how pleased everyone was with their purchase I had no idea it was going to give me problems on the first day of use. I was excited to try it after watching you-tube videos of making fruit leather. After putting the fruit on a tray covered with parchment paper, I turn the machine on and it worked for the first hour. Then the fan shut off and never came back on. I left it plugged in overnight expecting it to cut back on and after 10hrs only the power light comes on but no fan. I cannot return this product because I did not keep my receipt.

Review 3 for Oster Food Dehydrator
Have had the Oster a short time.

I have had the Oster about 2 weeks now. So far I have dehydrated onions, carrots, jalapenos, corn, green beans, bell peppers, and herbs. Has worked wonderfully without problems. Average drying time takes about 8-12 hours. I am going to give this product 4 stars because it only comes with 4 trays and I have been unable to encounter where to buy more trays. Also, it does not come with a fruit roll up tray for drying liquids, and you can not adjust the heat settings. Even with these setbacks, the dehydrator has performed beautifully in drying my vegetables and herbs. I do rotate my trays one time about half way through the drying process. I definitely recommend this product to people who do not have a huge quantity of food to dehydrate. The Oster is a simple machine, but works wonderfully with what I have used it for so far. Now time will tell how well the product holds up.

Was excited about getting into dehydrating certain foods so that I could start eating healthier and decided to purchase a dehydrator, sad part was that Walmart only offered one brand. This particular unit was only $40 so I was skeptical about the purchase, however I went ahead and purchased it even after reading some of the revues. It worked great for about the first 5-6 times but after that,it died!! I would not recommend this product to anyone who is looking at dehydrating food for the long term!!!

My boyfriend received this as a gift for Christmas and used it for about 10-12 hours straight the other day and it worked perfect! I read on here that people were having issues with the fan going out & that did not happen once. Also, it is VERY quick! He was able to cook multiple batches of jerkey in that time frame....we have only used it once so i cant review it for long term....but so far so good!

I am so sad that I bought this porduct for my son for Christmas. He had been looking forward to making jerky and dried fruits and his, a used one that I had for years broke, so I bought this one. He called me this morning and told me he plugged it in and after about 3 minutes, it quit working. It breaks my heart that this happened to him and that he will have to find another one so his expensive meat does not ruin!!! I wish I would have read the more recent reviews here because the product is not good and I am so embarassed that I gave him this for Christmas!!! I am not blaming WalMart, but I hope they dont sell them anymore!

My husband used this NON STOP for 2 weekends to make deer jerky for the holidays, and had no problems. This was his first time ever making jerky. I look at the massive quantities he made and shake my head at how much money we saved by making it instead of buying it. Wow.

I just bought this, plugged it in, and it seems very loud to me. I've owned another brand in the past and don't recall it making this much noise.
It's cheaply made and doesn't have adjustable heat settings. If it does the trick I won't return it. After all it was only $45, and you tend to get what you pay for.

Review 10 for Oster Food Dehydrator
Great Dehydrator for the price

This being my first time every trying dehydrating, I wanted something that was easy to use and wasn't really expensive. I had found this dehydrator on the internet and I just kept checking at my local Wal-mart, finally they had it in store. I purchased this last Friday evening and I don't think that there has been a day/night that I am not drying something. I have dried things from apples to potatoes.
This is a very good dehydrator, nicely made, and great quality. I definitely have gotten my monies worth out of it.....******

The Oster Food Dehydrator worked great for the first batch of venison jerky we made. It's too bad really that the fan and the heater quit working as soon as we started the second batch. We had it for two whole days before it had to be returned.

I bought this because it was the only one in Walmart.......only dehydrator, literally. There was one of this brand and none of any other offered. I was in a pinch with a ton of nectarines and vegetables to dry for a charity organization through our church. It worked twice as fast as was expected and takes half the drying time of others I have used. It was a nice surprise because it wasn't on sale and cost about 55 dollars and I was expecting to get the cheapest I could find that day. Great product and easy to clean.

This dehydrator works great for the money! These people probably didn't realize that a dehydrator cycles and yes, it does turn off after a little while, but it will turn back on. it cycles!! The only thing i wish it has was flat trays for fruit rolls ups and a temperature gauge (that you could change), but for around $40 you can't complain.. Worth the money when you don't want to spend over $150!

Run away fast

Used this to make deer jerky for the first time. Worked great the one time that I used it. That was over a year ago. Warranty says up to 1 year too by the way. Just got it out earlier tonight after cutting up a ton of apples, including peeling them, and some carrots that I was going to try and nothing. The power light came on but that was it. This was only the second time that the machine had been turned on. My advice is if your thinking about it run away now. The good reviews also appear to be from people that have not had this machine that long either. My guess is that their feelings may change like mine have. I read some reviews that were mixed at the time and decided to try this one. Wished I had not. Most expensive jerky that I've ever eaten. At least I've got a new target to practice with.

Died after 2 hours

My wife bought this dehydrator for me for Christmas. I was all ready to make some beef jerky. Prepared the meat, put it in the dehydrator and ran it for 2 hours until it shut off by itself. The power wswitch was still lit. I tried unplugging it and replugging it in. It never came back on. I went online to check out reviews for it on several sites. They were all poor with the same problem that I had and a lot of them had the same problem with multiple replacements. I contacted the OOster/Jarden Company and was informed that they would replace it for me if they had one and to try back in 4-6 weeks and see if they are have them at that time. They said that they are usually dependable products despite all the poor reviews online. I bought a Nesco FD-75PR 700-Watt Food Dehydrator from Amazon for about $10 more than the Oster and recieved a far superior dehydrator that works absolutely perfect. I would not buy another Oster product ever again and would certainly never recommend them to a friend.

I bought the Oster food dehydrator with the goal of making snacks for our child and our family. After preparing the product and setting it up the fan ran for about 4 minutes and then shutoff. I thought that this might be they way the product worked. I unplugged it and tried a different outlet. The machine never came back on. Needless to say this will be going back to the store for a refund. I would not recommend this product.

Brought it home. Prepared my not so cheap beef for jerky and got started. Before I new it the fan stopped blowing. I changed outlets, and unplugged for a few min and it started again. For about 5 min. Not sure if this was normal I started calling customer service. Closed. I left it on and it worked again for about 5 min then stopped I continued to leave it on and shortly the fan began working again....so far its still working but while trying to see if it was "normal" I came across the reviews on this site and it seems to be a very common problem. I am shocked at how many people bought more than one and had the exact same problem. I will be taking it back and finding a dif model/brand somewhere else since its the only one walmart had. Hopefully I will get this batch of jerky done. Bummed!
