I picked mine up to go along with my new 47 inch HDTV. The short 8 minute run time for the load I have on it being TV, cable box, and AV receiver. isn't a problem for me I mainly wanted it to smooth out the power flickers we get here which can be harder on stuff than just a full out power drop. It dose get the job done and already has kicked in on power disturbances.
Only down side is the alarm but hey if power stays out just walk over and turn every thing off and press power button to shut the UPS down.

I purchase 3 of these at 1/3 of the cost of the local office supply store. I have used this battery backup for several years. Good product. To replace the battery is almost as much as the whole unit.

I get a lot of small interuptions and my current apc backup works flawless.5+ years old with original battery and still works. I have 2 on my current pc and picked up 1 for my dad's new pc.Perfect sized and gives you plenty of time to shut the pc off during long outages.

I bought this to keep my elderly mom's cable box on at at all times. Whenever the power went out - even momentarily - the cable box would have to be turned back on manually. This was very confusing to her and meant a trip to her place to turn it on. I charged up the battery backup, plugged in the cable box, simulated a momentary power outage (pulled the plug) and the cable box stayed on seamlessly. This solved the problem beautifully.

This seems to be a great product so far. It is amazing how many power changes there are in my rural area. It beeps when there is change in power. Only thing I am not happy about is that I cannot connect my phone line. It does have connections for a network though.

This was purchased for two reasons: clean up the power supply to TV and DVR, and, to provide enough UPS for minimal power outages. The DVR supplied by the cable company is extremely intolerant of outages. A one microsecond outage precipitates discontinued recordings, as well as losing the entire set of TV listings. The latter requires seemingly a two day time frame to recover. I do not know if we have had very short term outages since installing this equipment, but we have had no broken up recordings or lost listings. APC is a very good brand. Also own an APC automatic voltage regulator protecting other sensitive electronics. Excellent value. A local store was selling fancy power strip for $99!
