This is an excellent machine for making sauces. You have to be careful when finely dicing vegetables. It's very easy to reduce them to a paste instead. The suction cups work well, a little too well at times. This is a good quality, large volume machine. I've owned it for 3 months and am still very happy with it.

I'm not really into gadgets and stuff but thought that I could make use of this and really have done. It's durable and does the job, cutting, shredding and pulping but not pulping to a smooth enough finish for my liking so I had to finsih the butternut squash soup of in the liquidizer, but I am pleased with it and use it often.

Review 3 for GE 14-Cup Digital Food Processor
mine died too

I used this food processor I think 3 times. first 2 times worked great; I even made bread dough with it. The next time I tried to make dough, it died on me. I thought maybe it was just over heated so I put it away and let it rest. next time I took it out, nothing but blue lights. It's hard to find a 14 cup food processor that won't break the bank, but if it doesn't work, doesn't matter how big it is. I thought perhaps the other reviewers had defective models, but apparently, the motor on this thing is not built to last.

Left me in a bind

I received this food processor as a gift about 6 months ago. I loved everything about it. We used the food processor about 5 times a week because my husband loves to make smoothies for breakfast. Out of the blue the machine would not work. The blue light came on, but nothing would happen when you pushed the buttons. I took the machine back to the store for a replacement. After standing in line for 30 minutes to exchange, I brought the new machine home. I used it one time and then it wouldn't work any more. Once again, my husband was left without breakfast. I need a machine that will work when I need it, and won't leave me with a recipe half completed. I returned the food processor for a full refund and I am going to spend the extra money on a Cuisinart.

Great looking machine, but if it doesn't work right out of the box it isn't worth the $$ no matter how much or little spent on it. I am very disappointed...it's going back to the store, exchanging for another is not an option.

I may have pushed it a bit too far, I am new to using these things. I had it chopping raw potatoes when it nearly fused the inner shaft (the piece that houses the spinning blades) to the top. It apparently got hot between those two pieces and melted the plastic a bit. I did not smell it getting hot. I took it apart and was able to separate the two pieces. I realized it's probably not meant to slice up raw potatoes and expect to last very long. I give it easier to handle slicing duties and it's continued to work fine since.

This machine worked well. I do have a couple of issues with the one I received. It seems I am vertically challenged and have a hard time seeing in the feed tube when everything is assembled. The extra large feed tube is great. I had more than enought room. I did have to take an extra moment when replacing the complete feed tube and the smaller liquid section was hard to take out the first time. I had to work with it several tries before I was able to remove it. I am looking forward to many years of faithful service from my new machine.

Review 13 for GE 14-Cup Digital Food Processor
Not really a food processor

I ordered this machine with some skepticism because of the price. If you are expecting a real food processor a la Cuisinart, do not buy this. It does not chop, even on pulse mode. It purees only, and that it does unreliably because the blades do not come close enough to the sides of the bowl, leaving big chunks. I have not tried the other functions yet. The bowl is huge however, so if you need to puree a lot of tomatoes for a sauce, or puree a cream soup this will do it. The results are more like a blender. And sometimes you do need a huge blender, so I'll keep it. But I need to buy a real food processor to replace my Cuisinart.

My old GE food processor (had it for about 30 yrs.) gave up the ghost just after Thanksgiving. Birthday money in hand I began my quest to buy a Cusinart. Alas I could only afford a model with a small bowl. On a whim I checked out what was available at the SuperWalmart about 20 miles from home. They had the 14-Cup GE in stock. I thought that I was settling for a less expensive model with fewer features, but I am thoroughly delighted with the GE's performance...plus I save about $130. The Cusinart I was looking at was on-sale at about $180! I have made bread, chopped nuts, made cranberry relish, chopped veggies for filling, etc. It performs like a champ.

first one the motor died after 6 months- was making a double batch of pizza dough, figured maybe I overloaded it. Bought a new one- first day of use the motor died while shredding mozzerella. I won't waste my time or money on another one. A food processor at the minimum should be able to shred cheese!

I received two food processors for Christmas. This one and then a Villaware which was much more expensive. I like this one better. One of the best things is that the blades store inside the unit when not in use. The Villaware doe not have this feature. Also the bowl is wider and the shoot is wider. It grond nuts in seconds and grated chees in a flash! Love it!

This was on my Christmas list and I received it from "Santa". Used it tonight to chop garlic, shred carrots and shred a whole block of cheddar cheese for a potato soup. It worked like a charm! I still need to experiment with it a little more, as this is the first processor I've owned, but for the price it's a wonderful addition to our kitchen!

Flimsy Design

As a food processor, it works great, but the lid to the bowl has a flimsy design. Things started falling apart after 2 uses, with springs flying everywhere and black plastic part that holds things in place breaking. Can't find a replacement part for the lid or bowl ANYWHERE (probably a $2.00 fix). Can only get the machine to chop, grate, or slice if I manually push the spring-loaded piece on the lid down with the handle of a knife, fork or spoon. It would be a great deal if it weren't built so cheaply. Looking to replace it with a Cuisinart or KitchenAid as soon as possible. . .

This is the first time I’ve ever owned a food processor and let me tell you, they do save time. This one work’s every well and also holds up to a lot of use. It’s been about a year since it was purchased, It does so well I bought a second one at Wal-Mart and gave it to my daughter as a gift. Best price and value for the dollar was at Wal-Mart, that I could find.
