As soon as I took these curtains out of the package, I knew they weren't going to darken a room. When I held them up to the ceiling lights in WalMart, I could see right through them. Get the Eclipse Samara curtains! They are the same price and actually block the light very, very well.

I wasn't sure what to expect after ordering these curtains and reading the reviews. My first choice was out of stock, so I went with these...and I'm very pleased. They are definitely room darkening. I bought 2 panels in the dark brown color (mocha, I think) to put up in front of the sliding door in our living room. They do a great job of keeping out the sun #which faces our livingroom all day) and they are breatheable enough to let air through. Note: they are very wrinkled when you take them out of the package...and even ironing doesn't seem to do a lot to knock the creases out, but since I didn't really care, it wasn't of particular importance to me. They look great, and keep the sun out. Overall, this was a great purchase.

curtain rod holes different sizes

I ordered 13 of these to help keep a sunroom less than scorching in the summertime. Unfortunately, the holes in the top of the curtains, for the curtain rod to go through, were very different sizes (one very small, 7 smallish, and 5 large). This looks very odd with the curtains hanging side by side.
I still think the curtains are a good value for the cheap price.
Finally, just FYI, the curtains have quite a sheen to them. They glimmer when the sunlight hits them, as opposed to being matte.

Bought these for our son's room and ended up buying him different ones(color and brand). Hung these up in our room as I work night shift.. The next morning, it was actually BRIGHTER in our room than it had been previously with just regular curtains!!! Yes, these are very inexpensively priced, but seriously?!?!? Room darkening??? I don't think so!!! Not even a little bit!!!

Not "Blackout" curtains

If you're expecting "blackout" curtains, then these aren't it. I was surprised to open them and find that they weren't lined. They do darken the rooms I have them in (I bought the blue and the red). However, if I want to block-out the light completely, then I need to add another layer. Not bad for the price, and they offer a nice pop of color against my rented white walls.
I was primarily interested in an inexpensive way to get some noise dampening effects, so layers may be effective for that goal. The energy efficiency and room darkening are just bonuses. I had actually planned on making curtains for the windows where I hung these - I may still do so and simply use these panels as colorful liners.
I do like them and would recommend them, but don't expect them to blackout the outside light completely. They are, as advertised, room darkening curtains.

These are nice curtains. Seem well made. They are light. I don't see that they are room darkening. They cut out some light but not as if they were making the room pitch black. Also I am not sure that they are very thermal since they are so light. Still for the cost, they are nice and the stone color I got was true to the swatch on the site. After washing them per directions they came out wrinkle free. I bought one pair first to see the quality then bought a second.

We have no AC in our old house, and we have HUGE kitchen windows where the sun just pours in and beats down on you. The last couple of summers have been brutal in there. I bought these curtains and put them up, and it helps keep the front of the house cooler and darker. It still gets pretty warm, but nothing near as bad as it was before!

When I first opened the panel it looked thin and it wouldn't work for darkening. Well I was wrong it was just fine and had plenty of material. My only concern now is will it hold up in a washing.

For $9 a panel, these can't be beat. Mind you, they are not glamorous or expensive looking, but they do the job. My cooling costs for the past month-ish have been reduced. I got the black because that was the only color available but I have black and white checkerboard floors and they look sharp.
