This unit will work well for what I need it for. I bought it to help keep my body fit and functional. It can work most muscle groups in the body. For what I need it for it will do fine. If you are wanting to work at a very high level it may be a bit light duty. Unlike several people who had difficulty putting it together, I found it to have very good instructions, which should be followed step by step, and I had it ready to use in four hours with no assistance.

I'm the guy that likes to kick the tires, thump the watermellon, etc., so buying this gym online was a leap of faith for me. I couldn't be more pleased. Quality of the product and the functionality are better than I expected. Assembly took a few hours, but I was not in a hurry. Assembly instruction book was accurate and all parts were provided. Instructions reccommend two people, but I had no issues doing this alone. My experience with this product has been terrific.

Preface: I'm a 32 year old male with a fairly active lifestyle. Not particularly "fit", but I enjoy the benefits of working out. I bought the "Weider 2980" because I lost motivation to go to the gym and thought the connivence of a home gym would get me back to my ideal weight.
The gym assembles fairly easy. It's time consuming, just pay close attention to the instructions.
unfortunately its a cheaply constructed machine. Horrible if you use heavy weight. The leg press is unusable for me. The low pulley system makes working my biceps awkward and dangerous. Chest fly doesn't feel right either. Looks like I bought a $400, rickety, chest press.

I love it! The only problem I had was that it said partially assembled, and I thought it would be a breeze to put together. Not so! But once it was assembled, it was worth the effort my son had to put in.

It took around 4 1/2 hrs to put together. Parts are not labeled.I found if you lay all the parts out, it's a lot easier to identify them, and the assembly will go much quicker. Works well, I use it every other day.

This is a great home gym to workout with, it was easy to assemble, its easy to work, when i recieved my box at the store to pick up it Was ripped at the end and some poles were sticking out and when we got home to check if all the screws and parts were there we found out the preacher curl and the backrest was ripped, but a simple online chat with the weider customer service fixed that problem they shipped me out brand new parts, I have been using this gym for about a 2 weeks now 2-3 times a day and its everything i thought and more! And also for ppl who may be thinking that 214 may not be enough weight.. trust me it is! thats exactly what i thought,
overall this a great home gym, i would deffintley reccomend this to anyone whos looking to get in shape

Extremly dissatisfied with Walmart since the products package was damaged with parts falling all over the floor. I returned the product for a full refund before the Walmart associate tried to remove it off there cart with the products parts falling on the floor. This rating is for Walmart and not the product since I never recived the product to reveiw and the rating system does not go negative so I can not give Walmart any rating on how there merchandise are handled in shipment to the store. I can not believe they actually thought someone would accept the item with the box the product was in was not even recognizable. This will be the last item I order from Walmart online.

Excellent value for the price. A little challenging to assemble though. Once assembled it turned out to be a great piece of equipment. 4 stars instead of 5 due to assembly time and effort required.

this was supposed to be a great buy but like everything that sounds too good to be true it was. the cables are starting to crack and rip. its flimsy and the weight is not enough. it only goes up to 210 lbs on the leg extension. everything else is very light. very limited to what you can try to work out. poor designs and not worth the money.

Im a mechanic so I didnot find the assembly hard at all. Read and follow instructions and you will have no problem. Suggestion, Instructions say to leave some assembly bolts loose at this time. and tighten at end of assembly, There is no value added by doing this and it is actually harder to tighten in the end. So Tighten as you go. Also KAN the adjustable wrenches and get the real sockets, wratchets, and wrenches need to do the job and forgo the wasted time adjusting the adjustable.

Three hours to assemble. Take your time and follow the directions. There are two thin pulleys that took me a while to discern. Depending on the exercise there is plenty of weight. This is a good machine for either entry level fitness enthusiasts or old guys like me just trying to retain some muscle mass and flexibility. It is a little clunky and the weight selector pin is a little hard to get in and out. BUT for the money it is the best machine out there and I have looked at them all.

Took me about 2 hours to set-up while watching T.V. The cables are the hardest but because I tightened some bolts too soon, it made it take longer. I have been using it for 2 weeks and feel like a bull already. I am impatient and need to do less weights and more reps. I am very satisfied with the Weider gym.

I am actually the wife of "bigdaddybob". He bought this gym for me because I wanted to strengthen my arms and legs. After several unsuccessful attempts to actually find a home gym on display at a wal-mart store, we decided to take a chance and buy this one online and have it sent to our local store. It seemed to have the most (and best) reviews at a reasonable price, and it looked like a nice piece of equipment, based on the pictures.
Looks can be deceiving. When we got it home, it took my husband about 6 hours to assemble this. The items were not marked as to what part they were in relation to the assembly instructions. The hardest part was figuring out which cable was which, since they were unmarked.
We also noticed a crack in the "butterfly arm" (sorry, lack of better word), but it was covered by the foam pad, so we decided it was not a big deal because the crack did not seem to go all the way through. However, after only 3 days, another crack appeared on the same part, just in a different area, and we never used more than 40 pounds for any of the exercises.
The reason I quickly realized that this was not the right equipment for me is because the weights did not go up in intervals of 10. For certain exercises, the easiest weight would be 11 pounds, and the next step up would be 27 pounds! It was like going from too easy to too hard, with no in between. Keep in mind I am just a beginner, so this might be fine for someone with more strength. But, if you are just getting started, you may feel like me and wonder how you are supposed to go from easy to hard, with no middle ground.
In the pictures, the equipment looks very nice and sturdy, but the pulleys are PLASTIC and the cables reminded me of a thicker version of clothesline wire. It made a lot of noise when being used, and it was frustrating trying to switch from one exercise to another because there were pins that had to be pulled out, so I had to get up and do that (the pin was very hard to remove and insert through the weights, I might add. I had to keep a hammer closeby), and if you wanted to take the pull-down bar off, there was nowhere to store it. So I was always removing it and laying it on the floor. It attached with a chain and it hung down so low that you had to take it off before doing any other kind of exercise, otherwise it would be hitting you in the face. In short, you could not really have a smooth transition between doing the different exercises.
Not worth the hassle of assembling, only to be disappointed by realizing how cheap it actually is.

You'll need some help getting this into your vehicle. Also if you have a metric socket set and wrenches along with someone to hand you the parts needed on assembly it should only take about 4hrs to set up.
