This dutch oven is a wonderful product! Am enjoying the ability to go from stove top to oven. Cleans up easily. The top and vessel require seasoning due to the exposed cast iron edge on both. Tip for seasoning: Lid should be with the exposed edge facing up. I put it on a baking sheet so it wouldn't drip on the oven and to keep it from falling into the rack.

Excellent Dutch Oven for baking no-knead bread

I had been shopping for a dutch oven with which to make no-knead bread. I purchased the Tramontina 6.5 quart in blue after looking at many other brands. The blue is gorgeous and it arrived with absolutely no defects (and it makes great no-knead bread).
I have had no problems with rusting around the lid as others have reported nor have I never covered the knob with foil or replaced it with a metal knob as others have suggested when baking no-knead bread and the knob has not melted on me.
I am quite pleased with this product. It was exactly what I wanted and does exactly what I wanted it to do, and it is always a pleasant surprise when that happens.

Review 3 for Tramontina 6.5-Quart Cast-Iron Dutch Oven
I've only had this dutch oven for a month so cannot comment on the durability, but so far it has performed beautifully with the several meals I have prepared in it.

I got this pot for Christmas last year and it is my favorite item in the kitchen! Great for soups, gravy (spaghetti sauce), and Sunday dinner slow cooked meats. The only difference from the most expensive pots that I've found is the handle is not heat proof over a certain degrees (maybe 400?), but it has not been an issue, as no recipes I've made with this type of pot call for heats higher than that. The price really makes this great piece of cookware affordable.

Review 7 for Tramontina 6.5-Quart Cast-Iron Dutch Oven
You can't tell by the online description and when I received it I noticed that the pot wall is not as thick as most dutch ovens. I can only hope that this does not affect it's performance.

Review 12 for Tramontina 6.5-Quart Cast-Iron Dutch Oven
Chipped after a few uses.

I got the this oven for Christmas and was so excited to use it! Sadly, after the first use the bottom splintered into tiny cracks and by the next use the enamel was starting to flake. By now there is a spot about the size of a half dollar where the enamel has flaked off on the bottom and another spot on the outside where the enamel has flaked as well. I won`t use it anymore. I should have gone to Amazon.com to look at the reviews. Many more people than are represented here have had problems with this and other similarly priced dutch ovens. Please think before you buy. Go for the real stuff, like Le Creuset. Thank you.

Review 13 for Tramontina 6.5-Quart Cast-Iron Dutch Oven
It's beautiful and well made, but it weighs alot. I tried fillling up with water and it took quite a bit for me to lift it. I'm 58, and I'll take this back for smaller one from the same manufacturer. I figure that a 5 lb roast, some potatos, and root veggies would be too much for me to lift from the oven. If that isn't a consideration for you then go ahead. Also it's a little oversize, and I don't want my grandkids knocking it over on themselves.

Review 14 for Tramontina 6.5-Quart Cast-Iron Dutch Oven
I love this enamel covered cast iron pot! I actually bought it for my son who loves to cook, but own the very same pot myself. 6.5 quarts is the perfect size. It is definitely heavy, so if you are not a strong person, you may want to consider something else. But frankly, it is NOT a problem for me and I love how beautifully and evenly it maintains the temperature. I heartily recommend this pot. The price is excellent, especially if you compare it to its main competitor! Their price is clearly almost ten times the price of the Tramontina pot and I believe the Tramontina is every bit as good and will last for a long, long time!

Review 16 for Tramontina 6.5-Quart Cast-Iron Dutch Oven
Ordering, packing shipping all met expections. Excellent product and fairly priced as compared to other makers. My wife has used this product twice since receiving, both stove top and in the oven, both times performed outstanding. May seem a little high priced to some, however considering the longivity its well worth the money.

Review 17 for Tramontina 6.5-Quart Cast-Iron Dutch Oven
Great cast-iron dutch oven . I have cooked meals on top of stove and in oven. I bought red to go with everything makes food look good and meat tastes tender and delicious. Easy to clean and heavy to stay where I put it! Family and grand kids say the meat is so tender it melts in your mouth. Cooks fast and makes me feel good to know eating the food is prepared safe from toxic elements. I now cook every day! Family is very happy !!!

Review 19 for Tramontina 6.5-Quart Cast-Iron Dutch Oven
This was the Daily Deal a few weeks back. I had been wanting one for quite a while but was waiting for a sale. I snapped it up at a great price. $31.50 and had it shipped to store so shipping was free and it was there really fast.
I've used this dutch oven a half dozen times already and I'm very pleased with the results so far. I did season as directed prior to use. I like the eveness of heating the cast iron provides and that it cooks well on lower heat. It is very heavy and it's important that you don't overheat it and damage the porcelain coating. If you follow the directions and use it properly it should last a very long time.
I had some concern over the black knob on the lid with regard to using it in the oven. After reading some reviews that said they replaced it with a metal knob, I contacted Tramontina customer service and was told the black knob on the lid is oven rated up to 400 degrees. The metal knob is rated up to 450 degrees and it can be purchased from them for $17.99 plus shipping. With only a 50 degree difference in oven temp and frankly, I can't think of anything I'll use it for that I would bake at 450 degrees, I opted to stay with the black knob. I think I'll just remove the knob if I need to use it at a higher temp.
I'm very happy with my purchase so far. I check the Daily Deals now more often after making this purchase.

Review 20 for Tramontina 6.5-Quart Cast-Iron Dutch Oven
This is the best deal I could find on one this size. Truly does compare to the high-dollar ones, works just as well. I saw where some reviewers don't like the plastic knob, but it says it's good for u to 300 degrees, so I don't have a problem with it. The beautiful red color even makes the food look prettier.
