This is a very good war picture , Bill Holden does a great job. The movie is more about the people and the job they had to do. This is a must see.

Since I had bought 2 movies that I liked, I asked my husband who is ex-military, if he'd like a movie and this is what he chose. It is a real good movie, with a great story line. Nice addition to your DVD collection.

Korean Era Aviation

This is a must have movie for aviation enthusiasts. There are not many movies with good shots of the F-80 Shooting Star -- America's first fighter jet to see combat. It is also a touching story of love and patriotism in the 1950's, as well as a fine example of Hollywood Korean Era propoganda. World War II had officially ended with the surrender of Gemany and Japan in 1945. Then, in 1950, America entered the Korean War conflict. War is a hard sell when people have just ended one like WWII. This movie did an excellent job of selling the American public on the distastful idea of fighting another war -- and one we were losing during the early months. You will have to watch the movie to see if the good guys win their battles. William Holden and Grace Kelly interact well together on the big screen. While I am not a fan of Mickey Rooney, he is perfect for the part he plays here. This movie won Best Special Effects in 1955, it is in color, and it is 103 minutes long, it has the original theatrical trailer, and is in Dolby Digital. I am guessing that wide screen format was not being used in theaters, when this movie was released, because this DVD is in Full Screen format. This DVD is replacing my VHS copy.
