I had one of these for several years and it finally kicked the bucket. I had no problems with it while I owned it and used it every day. Excellent steam, lightweight, gave good results. I can't complain about it at all. I had mine for 3-4 years and when you look at the price, that works out to less than $10.00 a year or 2 cents a day for a good iron. I am not complaining at all. Most products these days don't last anywhere near that long.

Shark is a up and coming manufacturer. I will be investing in other products made by Shark. This iron is exactly what I wanted for the price and the quality. My only reservation is; it doesn't have a rectractable cord. But the self cleaning, the steam and using the spray nozzle makes ironing a breeze. Excellent for a bachelor that doesn't do a lot of ironing.

I thought I needed to pay for a higher end iron to get quality. So wrong. After using this for a while (I iron my clothes and my sons clothes each weekday) the plated chrome look on the handle began to ware off. This isn't the worst thing. After about a year and a half the iron wouldn't stay on. I figured it had to be a bad connection in the wiring. Fortunately, I rigged it to where the iron would stay on but it became to burdensome (I had to wrap the wire to the handle to keep it on). Getting rid of this finally since I now have the $$ to buy a new less expensive and better quality iron.

I bought this iron three years ago. I wanted to give a Shark iron a try because I love their vacuums. While using the iron on the highest setting, it would always go to the lowest setting and get cool. I never figured out why that happened. It also often leaked water. During the year's warranty, in ten months the iron stopped working. I called customer support and was told to send the receipt and iron back to them for repair. I had to pay $9.95 to ship it back to them and send them a check for $9.95 for return shipping. The rep said without the receipt they couldn't do anything for me. Luckily I save all of my receipts. I shipped the iron back for repair. A month later they sent the iron back to me. The iron did not get hot like it used to and did not iron as well after getting it back. This iron is not worth it. It was a "decent" iron while it lasted. It's very sturdy and well made; it just didn't last as long as I thought. Buy another iron besides this one. It will save you the headache of it going out on you.

I quickly found that the new push button controls (vs the old dial on legacy versions) have been my biggest dissapointment with this iron. The controls have been placed on the top of the handle in area situated right above the center of mass of the hot plate. Since this is where your hand will naturally position itself to get the best uniform pressure on the hot plate or to focus pressure on the iron tip, your hand will inherantly change the controls when you are ironing with you completely unaware. Best case you'll turn the iron off while ironing or worst case burn your clothes. I iron daily and have used the iron 30+ times now have yet to finish an ironing session with the settings staying where I put them. I will not buy another Shark with this control positioning.

This is the only iron I've had that is perfect! It doesn't require a pressing cloth, as my last iron did, in order to keep from burning synthetics despite using the proper setting. It steams perfectly so the wrinkles actually come out easily. It is much lighter than my previous iron, which is a huge plus. I can't recommend this iron highly enough!

I have owned this iron for a couple of years, have used it almost every single day and have never had any issues. No leaks, no variable temps, no nothing. It has worked GREAT!
It recently started leaking a little and I did a self-cleaning, which I had never done (although the instructions say to self-clean every two weeks or so). It now works again as good as new.
Yes, I understand that every now and then faulty electronics straight from the manufacturer are a given, and I'm sure that some of the reviewers may have received some faulty irons. However, I would bet that many people may not have followed the instructions or just didn't know how to properly use the iron.
I have had a great experience thus far, even after 2 years. I used to be a die-hard Sunbeam iron fan; however, after a few months to a year, they always leaked sum'n awful.
I don't believe in paying $100+ for an iron, and I'm not a cheapskate either. This iron has really proven to be a good deal and great value. It has been great and lived up to everything that it advertised.
I would recommend it to anyone.

I purchased the iron 7/2011 and it seem to work OK. I thought it was a good iron for the price but a little over one year while ironing my clothes (8/2012) the iron just stopped working. It will not stay on, it goes off by itself. It is a piece of junk. DO NOT BUY THIS IRON.

I just used the iron for the first time and I know it's too early to say, but I think it's a keeper! Not only was it a great price, but first time using it, I think it's going to be a very good iron.
