Cosco Cosco 17' World's Greatest Ladder
The Cusco 17-foot ladder provides the function of multiple ladders in a single neatly conceptualized product. It can be used as a step ladder, a stairway ladder, an extension ladder, scaffolding, and a wall ladder. This aluminum extension ladder requires no assembly and provides sturdy, support and balance. Flared legs anchor the ladder firmly, along with slip-resistant feet and positive hinges for superior security. This Cusco multi-position aluminum ladder can also be used as a scaffold with two heights. For accessibility to difficult-to-reach places, use it as an extension ladder. Designed for an extra heavy-duty industrial work-load of 300 lbs, the ladder meets ANSI 1A guidelines. Its easy to see why its called the worlds greatest ladder.

I purchased this item because i have vaulted celing s and a book case in the living room and lofts in 2 of my bedrooms that I needed to reach. It is a great ladder as far as workmanship is concerned. However, it is very heavy and bulky for storing. In addition its difficult to open and close and you need to be careful with your fingers. You also need a large area in order to open it. It was supposed to be new and it came scuffed and dirty in the shipping box so I was not pleased.

This is the first time I have purchased and used an adjustable ladder and I am extremely pleased. This Cosco 17' ladder is easy to adjust, sturdy and can be set up in many different configurations. It is especially useful as a stairway ladder where hard to reach places in awkward positions become a snap. It is a little heavier than I expected, but the sturdiness and strength of this ladder more than compensate for the extra labor needed to move it around. I would definitely recommend this Cosco 17' ladder to others who need the versatility of an adjustable ladder.

This ladder is very sturdy and collapses down into a much smaller package than I thought when I ordered it, which was a very pleasant surprise when I opened the package. This is because each leg of the ladder is composed of two pieces which telescope, so that it can be a 4 1/2 ft. stepladder fully collapsed or an 8 ft. stepladder fully extended in addition to being a 17 ft. straight ladder when fully extended and unfolded. It does have fine, gray dust on it when delivered, but in five minutes with a bucket of soapy water, a sponge, and a garden hose, it was clean and ready for use.

Best money ever spent! As stated in other reviews, your hands will become black using this ladder. The cause may be oil/grease needed for proper movement as you raise, lower and change the ladder positions. Knowing this ahead of time, you can wear gloves or carry a wipe for cleaning hands. Since owning this ladder, we have changed the upper porch bulbs, the unreachable smoke alarm batteries (you know the ones - they are the ones you pray will never go out in the middle of the night and chirp forever), cleaned windows inside and out, fixed a couple loose roof shingles and painted the shutters. No service calls for these tasks is a HUGE savings!!

I've been waiting for over 2 weeks now and it still hasn't arrived. I called Walmart and they had to order a new one that won't arrive for several more days. I needed it for some important projects a couple days ago. This was a huge inconvenience. I'm sure the ladder is great, but Walmart's service has not been.

This ladder is very sturdy and able to fit many applications. It is heavier than others I have owned of similar design but if safety is important to you, this ladder seems to be a great choice for many situations and well worth the price.

I have owned this ladder for about 7 years and use it for roof inspections in my business, so it is used hundreds of times per year. Durable, can fit in the bed of my truck, or in many car trunks when folded in. I have found that I can get on almost any roof except for 2 story houses using this ladder. Stable design.

We've owned 7 homes, all of which I've painted top to bottom with a wooden 6' ladder. Just bought this one and my only regret is that I didn't own one sooner! It reaches the heights I need it to, changes position easily, and is still light weight enough for me, as a 48 yr old mid-size female, to handle. The only change I would recommend is to broaden the steps slightly. When they're doubled, they're great, but when the ladder is exanded they're a little too shallow for my liking. I'll likely buy another one at some point for our other home.

not up to standards of competitors ladders

This ladder might be OK if it weren't for 3 things mentioned in other reviews, but really annoying to me:
1) the "mill finish" that Cosco cites leads to black all over your hands, there was some with other ladders but not like this.
2) the latching mechanism is similar to Vulcan, but the hinge and latch do not engage positively nor as securely as on the Werner or Little Giant
3) the construction is a bit less tight than the Werner or Little Giant comparable to the Vulcan
So although the design seems OK, the implementation was not as good as competitive ladders available for about the same price (see HFT Vulcan for instance). The mill finish that leaves more residue on my hands than any other ladder I've ever owned was the killer for me, back to the store!
