It is a great coffee pot and maker if you plan on making coffee and having a full pot EVERY DAY. It is meant for every day use because the system keeps the water hot in the back 24 hrs. a day so that it will brew in 3 minutes. The directions also recommends to keeping it plugged in all the time so that the water and tank in the back remains HOT. The directions also state RECOMMENDED for EVERY DAY use and NOT OCCASIONAL use. Did NOT know this when we bought it.

This is my 7th Bunn, and is the best of seven. All Bunn's have the ability to give you coffee (a full pot) in 3 minutes. To keep the coffeee hot, this Bunn uses a Thermos. If you pre-heat the thermos with hot water from the tap for 3-4 minutes, it will keep your coffee hot for 2 hours. The bunn I had just before this one, was also a thermos type, but leaked when ever you poured coffee. This one does NOT LEAK! If this Bunn operates true to form, it will last 2-3 years before you start having problems with the water temp. Then you either replace the unit or send it off to Bunn for a rebuild.

I was looking for a coffee maker that would work well for high altitude (8700 feet). I wanted one that would keep my pot of coffee hot and it does that for the time I take to drink it. I wasn't looking for bells and whistles, I just wanted a reliable and fast brewing maker. I am very happy with the decision.

This is not a feature laden coffee maker, no timers, no grinders, but a very efficient coffee maker, brewing 10 cups in 3 minutes. You'd think speed would not be an important factor for brewing, but the coffee actually tastes better. The longer it takes to brew, the more acidic the result.
We live at an elevation of 5400 feet and I had read complaints on other coffee makers that the temperature was luke warm. This product is specifically designed for high altitudes and the coffee temperature is just right. The insulated carafe keeps it that way for hours.
Since I've owned this for only a few weeks, my rating on durability may be premature, but I expect it should last, given Bunn's reputation and widespread usage by restaurants.
