HAD TO DOWN LOAD TO UPDATE PRODUCT . WAS A REAL PAIN . BLUERAY CUTS OUT . TAKES LONG TIME TO READ DISC EVEN AFTER DOWN LOAD OF NEW UPDATE . HAVE HARD TIME STILL WATCHING AVITAR TAKES LONG TIME TO GET STATRTED .

It APPEARS from the specifications this unit plays AVCHD discs SO...if you create BD material and place it on a single or dual layer DVD it WILL play. Of course it will also play BD discs... GREAT price too...

Could not get the player to play video dvds. Tried to connect the input to television using the remote to do this but television which is 1080p wouldnt accept. also extremely slow. Did play blu ray dvds ok.

Its just garbage,

I wanted to like this player. I updated it....... as long as it would play I didn't mind the slow starts. The player had been randomly locking up and now it will not play discs at all. I'm returning it.

I've only had this player for a few weeks now but it works great and the blu-ray movies look fabulous on my 1080p lcd. The remote is a bit larger than it needs to be that's my only knock thus far..

Very nice blue ray player,

This Blue ray player is great for the price. The DVDs have wonderful detail and you feel like you are at the theater! The price was affordable and the resolution of the movies are fantastic.

Product is garbage,

Product is garbage. When it played it would skip frames. I am in the process of sending back to get fixed and Pioneer wants me to pay shipping to them. I would buy a different player.

Blu-ray player would not work at all. Installed update. didn't help. support was fair, but no help. defective unit from factory. sent it back. bought a samsung. like it so far.
