Good TV soundbar with problems.

Very pleased with the sound performance and the solid construction. Looks very good under my large 55in. TV. Remote control has all standard features plus on/off on surround sound, which is a good plus. My only complaints are: There is no "on" light on the bar to confirm the unit is on or off. The other complaint is the remote is under-powered or too narrow in the pick-up range of the sound bar. Must be very careful in pointing the remote very directly at the pick-up sensor (extreme right on the bar) with narrow horizontal and vertical deviation. Also range is supposed to be 30 ft., but I am only 20 ft. from TV. Button presses produce unknown results. Poorest remote I have ever used.
Talked to Vizio customer service and explained my complaint. The only thing they showed is that the remote does its job when 8 ft. away from TV and directly pointed at sensor. Sorry about no "on" light.
The sound bar does an excellent job on producing sound but fails miserably on the power/design of its remote. Still debating as to return the unit, and all because of the remote.

good sound, remote controll issue

The first one we bought was easy to hook up sounded real good but after 2 1/2 months the remote started not responding well , within another week or so it wouldn't work at all even replacing with new good quality batteries did no good . This is a replacement for the first one . If there's trouble with it I will review again. The remote is a very small light weight one don't know if that's the prob.

Best Soundbar under $100

Bought this soundbar close to a month now. Bought the almost same soundbar at Samsclub to compare sound quality. The soundbar in Sams is a 2.0 channel and it has a Aux jack on side, but the sound is a little less. Compare to the soundbar from Walmart that is the same price. BUT here is the BIG differents!! This soundbar has a subwoofer jack in the back. Go to BestBuy and buy the Sony subwoofer that cost $100. And when you get home and play your favorite movie, watch the floor shake. The soundbar gets out the voice and background, while the subwoofer put out the deeeeeep rich Bass in the movie. A True combonation for about $200.

Good Value for the Price

The Vizo VSB200 was purchased to be used with a 47" LG HDTV. A toslink cable was purchased along with the soundbar since the LG only has an optical audio output. I'm happy to say everything works good. The soundbar produces a richer, easier to hear audio output and is definitely worth the price. The remote control works well. The on/off function is a little strange. Turning it on requires two presses of the power button. The full row of indicator lights up with the first press but the unit doesn't come on. With the second press the indicator lights show volume level and the unit turns on. The indicator lights go off during operation and you get no indication when you turn it off.

above mediocre, just like my life

I'm not as blown away by this product as some, but I would not return it either. A lot of the best features will go unnoticed by design. The main reason I bought this unit was for the TruVolume feature. It does an excellent job of preventing commercials from being extremely loud compared to the program. This is my favorite feature.
The sound is quality is great. I don't claim to be a sound expert. What I do is, alternate muting the TV speakers, and muting the soundbar. In doing this, the difference in sound is noticeable. The soundbar wins the competition over my tv speakers handily.
I haven't experienced the problem other have had with the remote responding. Mine seems to work as long as I point it at the unit, or if I'm off to the side, I'll bounce the signal off the wall behind me. Try it; It's fun.
Other thoughts, there was a cheaper vizio model in the store. I bought the VB200 instead because it has more audio inputs on the back. However, if my TV was equiped with an audio out, I would have went with the smaller VB206 for $70.
The soundbar can get in the way of the remote sensor on your tv. I just elevated my TV a couple more inches using a flat spacer.

Easy set up and much, much better sound than the speakers in my Sony Bravia TV. For those who have Dish Satellite you can control volume and on off by programing the Aux button with 2833 as the code. I recommend this especially in a smaller room where large multipiece surround sound systems just won't fit.

100% improvement over TV speakers!No it's not an expensive set up but you will be pleased with the most bang for your buck sound system for the price.The quality sound surprised me for the size and price.It even has the input for a subwoofer later on if you want.

Good sound bar gets the job done.

I rearranged my den and did not want to re-run speaker with for surround sound, so I purchased this sound bar based on the price and its ability to connect to an existing subwoofer. The controls are simple enough and sound is good with the subwoofer attached. It lacks a little in the bass department for my taste without the subwoofer. I only have two (minor) complaints. This device would do well to have a switched outlet on it for the subwoofer power--there's no reason to have to leave the subwoofer on all the time (not easily accessible in my setup). It would be nice if there was a power indicator (dim red LED would be fine) to let you know when the device is on. You never are quite sure if it actually turned off unless you kill the source before the sound bar.

you are lucky ,it seems that vizio has a new model vsb202 replacing vsb200 . this new model don't seem to have a place to even add a sub woofer . i like the old vsb 200 with all it faults and with a powered sub like ours .

First, it was cheaper here than on Amazon where I read all the reviews about it. This is not my first purchase with Walmart.com. Do your research on Amazon, then save money by buying here, pick it up a few days later at your local Wal-Mart and NO SHIPPING costs! Thank you Wal-Mart!
It is a large and heavy speaker, so measure where you think you want it to make sure it fits! I connected it to my several-yrs-old LG 37" TV using optical digital TOSLINK cable purchased locally for $7. I put my TV volume on mute then programmed it as AV1 on my DirecTV remote and it works great. It gives us the boost of a 'larger' volume we wanted compared to the pathetic TV speakers. It can get incredibly loud! Granted, you have to switch to AV1 to adjust volume, but it's still better than keeping up with another remote. The remote it came with works good as well.

i have a 42 vizio 3D tv and i got this because i needed more sound its ok its great for the price its very easy to set up even that it plugs into your tv when u trun off your tv u have to trun off the soundbar to it be cool if your tv trun it off like my tv truns on and off my ps3

I purchased this for my Samsung 40". Have a large living room and can hear it just fine across to our couches, etc. Only complaints: (1).thin,unlit remote (2). Sometimes will not come on when turn power (on it's remote) on. Have to re-hit power button a couple of times before will respond.

I have this sound bar for two years now (bought in Aug 2010) and I am very pleased with this product. I have kept it in my living room connected to TV with viewing distance of 15" and it works great at this distance giving good surround effect. I did not purchase the subwoofer but I have heard it with subwoofer as well. Bass is greatly improved with subwoofer. With subwoofer, it gives great theater experience. Bass is just OK without subwoofer but that you can figure it out from the frequency response given in spec.

I was very disapointed......The sound bar arrived broken, I had to return it. I should have learned my lesson. I usually NEVER buy electronics from Walmart. I've never had one that work for more than 30 days.
