Vizio High Definition Sound Bar, VSB200

Bought this to pair up with a Vizio flat screen. Connected via the SPFID/Optical port. Vizio needs to compliment their products because the sound bar remote is required to turn the soundbar on when you turn your set on. Vizio flat screen should operate the soundbar also. It's not obvious when the Soundbar is on and I found the remote to be extremely slow as to sending remote commands. The soundbar has LED's but they flash and don't stay illuminated. My soundbar worked fine for a week but then I had to go to the TV menu options and establish the PCM audio setting for the soundbar to work. Very annoying. The sound was actually very good. Operation stinks.

Let's be honest here, this will not replace 5.1 surround sound. But, it does come really close. I had 5.1 surround sound when 2 kids came along(it was the wifes' idea). So we had to move the TV and stereo from the man cave in the basement up to the main livingroom. We have an open floor plan so the 2 rear channels were out of the question. I had the 3.1 hooked up and it worked, but was lacking a lot of sound. I was nervous about purchasing a sound bar because I don't understand how 3 or 4 speakers can fake surround sound. I am VERY glad I purchased this sound bar. It is plenty loud for playing a good action movie and even loud enough to play music for a party! This sound bar is lacking the wireless sub. I chose to go to BB and get a Sony Subwoofer for $95. It has one wire running to it from the sound bar but it is worth it. The sound from this pair is AWESOME! You can feel the lows and the highs are crisp and clear.
The SRS labs sound on this bar does a really good job. You can turn on the SRSVOL to stop the commercials from being so loud and make movies a little more calm. I have the SRSVOL off because it does take away some highs and lows of a good movie. If you want to be frightened and jump a little when the scene changes and there is a loud noise you want the SRSVOL off.
The SRSHD is awesome. It makes you feel like you have full sorround sound. It pushes the little stereo sounds away from you and makes the voices crystal clear and somehow manages to fill the room with surround as if you had rear speakers. I definately have the SRSHD on. If you are contemplating getting this sound bar I say go get it. If you have the room and capability of going 5.1 then do that instead. If you arent big into audio and just want to upgrade your flat panel tv speakers then this would be a good cost effective way to do it. I do recommend getting the Sound bar with the wireless sub or getting a different brand powered sub with this model soundbar. The sub makes a huge difference.
I hung my soundbar from the bottom of my flat panel TV. My plasma is hung on the wall with a $59 arm mount off Ebay. I then took the mounts that would normaly put the tv on a TV stand and hung the sound bar from them. Now I can pull my TV away from the wall and slide it to the left or right (using the arm mount) and the sound bar goes with it!

we mounted ours to the wall above our TV and it was very easy to mount...........and we love the sound that it produces............i would HIGHLY recommend this..........we have had ours for about 2 weeks now and have had no problems............

If you are looking for something to boost the sound of your tv and blue ray player without spending a ton of money, then this is for you. The sound quality if exceptional for someone who just wants to turn up the volume without sending your volume control to 100 when watching action movies. I am very impressed and very pleased with this purchase.

I recently bought a 47" Vizio flat screen from Walmart after reading several reviews such as this. I am extremely happy with my Vizio TV and the price was the lowest I could find anywhere. While reading the reviews, 1 of them said if you're going to spend this kind of money on a TV you should do yourself a favor and upgrade the audio. I did the research and found the vizio soundbar to be the best bang for the buck. Easy hook-up and easy remote control. Excellent sound and for a decent price. Get it you will be glad you did!

I was kind of hesitant because of some negative reviews. Overall, I'm very satisfied . I have an existing sound system and sub woofer and together it sounds amazing. I have a 52" TV and mounting it under the tv looks sooo nice. Hook it up with the optical cord and wooooah. The only negative thing is the remote is horribe and you have to turn it on and off manually.

I had high hopes for this product. I bought a new 46 HD flat screen and discovered the speakers on the TV were pathetic. That is the reason for this purchase. I just wanted to be able to hear the TV louder and clearer, especially during movies.
Be aware that you will need a special SPDIF optical cable that is hard to find (and not included, or sold at WalMart) to hook up your TV. Once you do that, The sound is good, and exactly what I needed.
The bad part is that it does not work with your TV/cable remote. It has its own remote that you have to turn on everytime, re-do the input everytime, and adjust separately from your TV everytime. Unless I missed something in the instructions, its not meant to work with your TV remote.
It gets the job done, its just a little bit of a hassle. Since this is for a TV that I dont use everyday, it will be fine, but would rather have the TV volume work with the Sound Bar.

Bought it to help us understand the speech on some of the TV shows that are very hard to understand. It helps. Not perfect, and the "level sound" feature is iffy. We felt that it was a good buy for the money, and since we couldn't easily run speaker cables to the back of our viewing area, it was a good choice.

Evan thought the price was OK I expected better operation from the remote.
