The Garmin Nuvi 1300 4.3-inch GPS Navigator features a slim and lightweight design and has up to four hours of battery life. It has a widescreen display, which can help drivers see how to reach destinations with ease. It will provide map details, announce streets by name, offer pedestrian navigation options, and calculate the most fuel-efficient route with ecoRoute. This Garmin touch screen GPS also features an intuitive interface which greets users with 'where to' and 'View Map', to get started. The color touchscreen allows for easy selections. The dashboard mounted GPS comes preloaded with City Navigator NT street maps for the continental U. S. , Hawaii and Puerto Rico. This car GPS navigation system provides map details, driving directions, photos and more in bright, brilliant color. Its sunlight-readable, 4.3-inch display is easy to read from any direction.

Overall very good. Navigation works fine.
A little clunky trying to download additional icons and voices.
Power plug is on the bottom, so it can't be rested on the dash like some prefer- it must be stuck to the glass.

Its a basic GPS. Looks like the map is outdated. Gives short notices of turns. Does not have the cognitive capability to decide if the destination is nearest using a local road. It always tries to catch a highway instead of using local road to reach the point.

I have used gps navigators befor , this was a gift for my girl friend she is not good at computers or electronics she opened the box turned it on and used it . I am planing on getting one for myself .

Paid a lot for this device in July 2010, ($170) and to update the US map is very expensive, the map update would cost almost as much as the cost of a new Garmin 1300LM (Free Lifetime Maps Updates)
Therefore I recommend you spend the extra few dollars now and buy the 1300LM rather than the 1300 which in the end will cost you big time to update the map

I haven't had this GPS for a year yet and it suddenly couldn't find satellites. I had to go on line to research the problem and found the web updater on the Garmin website. I installed it on my computer, plugged in my GPS and began the update process. There were 67 updates for my system. I installed them all, restarted my system and it worked again. This was not something that some people would want to do if their GPS quit working.

I've been looking at Garmin for quite some time and always scoffed at the high price. Finally, Walmart offered it at a great price and I jumped on the deal. I finally used it for a long distance trip and was quite impressed the ease of use. I highly recommend this product to others.

First one I received worked fine (except for the usual sometimes place was on right and Garmin was telling you it's on the left), but after two weeks one day all the data disappeared. Instructions said to download new maps from web site but cable it not provided to do that. returned it new one seems OK,funny except all addresses with DR. the voice pronounced it dowger. as in turn on central dowger instead of Drive.

As a realtor, this was one of the best investments I've ever made. Before I would print up maps and figure out the easiest route to homes. I don't have to do that anymore. The Garmon takes me from one house to the next and takes me the shortest route. I don't know why I didn't make this investment sooner. It's easy to program, I can save my listings in it for quick access, I don't have a pile of maps in my truck and it's small enough to fit in my purse. The screen tells me how many miles an hour I'm going which is handy since my oversized tires make my speedometer off.

I am so glad that I purchsase the Garmin 1300 it is the must have navigation system. I even purchase one for my daughter she have no sense of directions so I thought this would be the perfect gift for her she absoutely loves it.
