I purchased this TV as a replacement to a 37in. 720p. I am very impressed. I did my homework and also read all the reviews written by other shoppers and decided that this TV was the best value. I was not disappointed!
The picture is crisp, the sound is good quality. I also use it connected to my Mac mini as my computer monitor and it does an amazing job. I tried all the settings recommended by other shoppers and it made a good picture, but I decided in my home environment the picture was better with the factory settings. Any way you go, if you want a vivid, blur-free, picture, I definitely recommend this TV! You will love it!

I got this TV at the local store during the doorbuster when they were selling the 42" Sharp for $498 and the 46" Sharp for $698. Our store didn't get the 46" Sharps, so they substituted this for me at $698!
This is a great TV so far. I debated for a long time between 60Hz vs. 120Hz TVs. While this TV is 120 HZ, I wouldn't suggest paying extra for it if you're deciding between two TVs otherwise. The 120 HZ is certainly different that 60 HZ, but I wouldn't necessarily say "better".
This TV has the nice ability to plug in a hard drive to the USB and play videos, music, or photoslideshows. This is a definite perk.

The HD viewing on this thing is like through a window without the glass... it looks like your on the set of the of the film. I install Dish Network, and I have seen a ton of HD TV's... for the price, this one has them all beat!

This 47 inch is a really good buy, very easy to set up lots of HDMI connections. Instructions are very precise. I compared this tv to the Samsung 46 inch and I could not see any difference in picture quality.

I was leaning towards the big name brands of Sony, LG and Samsung. On a whim I took a good look at the Vizio and realized I would be doing myself a service by looking closely at this option.
Once in the store I watched all 3 sets for at least an hour and decided on the Vizio. I couldn't be happier. Nice picture for sports, entertainment and Blu Ray.
I work in broadcasting and watch monitors that are considered professional quality and for the money this TV puts out a really good picture. I am not disappointed. I can rate the sound as I use my surround but everything else has me pretty happy. If the set last without issues I will definitely be looking at another Vizio in the future.

i bought this online and got it with a note from shipper that they damaged it during transit. there was a chip on the screen when i opened it. so i am not so sure how durable the screen is. went to the store and exchanged it for another one. when I finally used it, the picture was amazing. I had guests in my house that day and they were asking me if I did something that made the picture so clear. I have HD satellite a DVD 1080p up conversion and Blu-ray hooked up with it. I am very picky with the stuff i buy and I was skeptical at first and I am not regretting that i choose this TV. I do recommend this TV. it is the sound that disappointed me but with a little tweaking it was okay.

Did the homework and for the money this is the one to buy. This TV has a beautiful, sharp picture and the HD broadcasts look even more amazing and we only have a small, flat digital atenna - no cable - no satelite. The images on the TV look like they could crawl right out of the screen. It is truly awesome.

Right out of the box this is one awesome TV. It was very easy to set up. Adjustments to screen size, color etc are easy to find and even easier to customize. I do not have hdtv capable satellite box and had inquired prior to the tv purchase about upgrading. After seeing the picture quality I think I'll save the money. I would like to replace every tv in my house with this one!!

Very easy to set up. Picture quality is not as good as I thought it would be. In order to get the picture quality shown at the store you probably need to get the HD package. Although some channels are crisp and clearer than others. Overall, it is a nice addition to our family and we will probably get the HD package so we can enjoy it to the fullest. Smart sound on it is really nice after i figured out how to set it.

This is our first HD T.V. and we are very happy with it. The difference from standard def. to high def. was immediately noticeable. Highly recommend getting HD service, (Only $2 per month extra in my location). The picture quality with H.D. service is outstanding in standard def. is O.K., but the vertical black bars on the sides of the picture (normal standard def.) really get annoying. Sound quality is O.K., transitions from programming to commercials, volume is inconsistent sometimes. Lots of plug ins on the back for all kinds of accessories. Overall a great T.V., I would definitely recommend this for anyone wanting a quality big screen H.D. T.V. for a great price.

We've looked at TV's for 2 yrs on and off trying to learn as much about it and decide which one to buy. After reading product reviews, and looking at what others were buying, Vizio is not only a good value, but has an awesome picture and all the features Sony has (the only other brand we seriously considered buying) for less money so it really came down to what size screen would fit my TV cabinet. I chose the VIZIO model VL470M and both my wife and I couldn't be happier with it. To take full advantage of how good it is you must have an HD signal. Also, I suggest buying the HDMI cables for the best picture). The settings are very important as well (I used the settings suggested by another reviewer on this site- with a couple of minor tweaks and the picture is beyond description--so vivid). Sports, movies, nature, ANY HD programming just blows you away-- and ther are many HD channels to watch. If you are seriously considering a High Definition LCD, you can't go wrong with VIZIO. We love ours.

Don't think twice about this tv. I did, and I wasted alot of time. This TV is solid. I purchased the set 1 week ago and found one bad pixel on the screen. So i decided to return the set and get a new one. As I was returning it, one of the associates said "I would seriously consider an upgrade". So i did and had him show me all the sets they had, and for the money Philips compared to all the others and passed all the tests he put them through. So i bought it! Got it home and set it up. One word,JUNK! compared to this Vizio. So back to the store with the Philips and got this Vizio. This is the best LCD for the money by far.
Pros. Picture is all you can ask for. almost no motion blur and the smoothing setting is awesome for sports, lots of features, sharp and smooth images, solid colors and backgrounds, no banding.
Cons. Remote is very basic. Sound could better but if you have surround sound you have no worries.
Hope this helps, I normally don't write reviews but this is one that I thought would help a ton.

Ok So Vizio as a Whole Less Expensive and there is a reason for that... Our Tv Sound Kept Cutting out We had to take Advatange of the Warranty to get it repaired and one month after warranty period expired our tv that we had had for only on year just went black no sound no audio and after finding out that it was going to cost more to have it fixed then to replace it... we just replaced it with another brand that so far we love... I will never by another vizio

I will say that It has a decent picture. As far as HD, well, it's a bit washed out and pixely. Maybe with a better source it might be better. Video games look real good. PC connection is great. The sound could use a little more oomph, but it works. If you turn off the sound bells and whistles it has hot audio, but with the surround feature turned on, you have to turn it up to about 40. Overall it's a decent tv for the money.

So far we are impressed with the picture, adequate sound, a decent remote (would be better with back light). We've only had it a few weeks, so it's too early to say about long term quality and reliability. Ask me again in 10 yrs or so. I shop online quite a bit and walmart.com is about as hassle free as it gets.
