Very easy to set up. Picture quality is not as good as I thought it would be. In order to get the picture quality shown at the store you probably need to get the HD package. Although some channels are crisp and clearer than others. Overall, it is a nice addition to our family and we will probably get the HD package so we can enjoy it to the fullest. Smart sound on it is really nice after i figured out how to set it.

This is our first HD T.V. and we are very happy with it. The difference from standard def. to high def. was immediately noticeable. Highly recommend getting HD service, (Only $2 per month extra in my location). The picture quality with H.D. service is outstanding in standard def. is O.K., but the vertical black bars on the sides of the picture (normal standard def.) really get annoying. Sound quality is O.K., transitions from programming to commercials, volume is inconsistent sometimes. Lots of plug ins on the back for all kinds of accessories. Overall a great T.V., I would definitely recommend this for anyone wanting a quality big screen H.D. T.V. for a great price.

I bought a 42" ILO tv about 5 years ago at Walmart for $1300 and it went out last night. So I took a trip this morning to see what they had now and I found this TV. Its very clean and the picture and sound are great. It is a great upgrade for my wall from a 42" to 47" for under $1000.

We've looked at TV's for 2 yrs on and off trying to learn as much about it and decide which one to buy. After reading product reviews, and looking at what others were buying, Vizio is not only a good value, but has an awesome picture and all the features Sony has (the only other brand we seriously considered buying) for less money so it really came down to what size screen would fit my TV cabinet. I chose the VIZIO model VL470M and both my wife and I couldn't be happier with it. To take full advantage of how good it is you must have an HD signal. Also, I suggest buying the HDMI cables for the best picture). The settings are very important as well (I used the settings suggested by another reviewer on this site- with a couple of minor tweaks and the picture is beyond description--so vivid). Sports, movies, nature, ANY HD programming just blows you away-- and ther are many HD channels to watch. If you are seriously considering a High Definition LCD, you can't go wrong with VIZIO. We love ours.

Don't think twice about this tv. I did, and I wasted alot of time. This TV is solid. I purchased the set 1 week ago and found one bad pixel on the screen. So i decided to return the set and get a new one. As I was returning it, one of the associates said "I would seriously consider an upgrade". So i did and had him show me all the sets they had, and for the money Philips compared to all the others and passed all the tests he put them through. So i bought it! Got it home and set it up. One word,JUNK! compared to this Vizio. So back to the store with the Philips and got this Vizio. This is the best LCD for the money by far.
Pros. Picture is all you can ask for. almost no motion blur and the smoothing setting is awesome for sports, lots of features, sharp and smooth images, solid colors and backgrounds, no banding.
Cons. Remote is very basic. Sound could better but if you have surround sound you have no worries.
Hope this helps, I normally don't write reviews but this is one that I thought would help a ton.

Ok So Vizio as a Whole Less Expensive and there is a reason for that... Our Tv Sound Kept Cutting out We had to take Advatange of the Warranty to get it repaired and one month after warranty period expired our tv that we had had for only on year just went black no sound no audio and after finding out that it was going to cost more to have it fixed then to replace it... we just replaced it with another brand that so far we love... I will never by another vizio

For me it all comes down to the fact the sound did not last 2 years and after 1 year its all out of your pocket and do you want to pay that price for a tv thats only good for 2 years i say no. i will never get a Vizio again . i hope to warn all buyers. good luck

I will say that It has a decent picture. As far as HD, well, it's a bit washed out and pixely. Maybe with a better source it might be better. Video games look real good. PC connection is great. The sound could use a little more oomph, but it works. If you turn off the sound bells and whistles it has hot audio, but with the surround feature turned on, you have to turn it up to about 40. Overall it's a decent tv for the money.

So far we are impressed with the picture, adequate sound, a decent remote (would be better with back light). We've only had it a few weeks, so it's too early to say about long term quality and reliability. Ask me again in 10 yrs or so. I shop online quite a bit and walmart.com is about as hassle free as it gets.

This is my second Vizio and I've had it for a little over a month now and I am very pleased. The performance has definitely gone up from the 2007 model I had. Has a slick clean design that is the best I've seen from Vizio. Even better than Vizio's flagship XVT models with those ugly silver grills in the middle. HD sources(xbox360, PS3, HD antenna, BluRay) all look sharp and vibrant. SD sources look acceptable. Sound is decent while watching most sources, but when TruSurround is on and watching a BluRay movie with the volume cranked up it actually sounds pretty good. Settings out of the box are solid. Just had to tweek them a little bit to my liking. Menu interface is simple and easy to navigate. Has all the connections you need for all your electronics and has some inputs on the side for easy access. The VR2 remote it comes with is simple and gets the job done, but I prefer the old VR1 remote with more face buttons, so I don't have to navigate the menu to toggle pip audio and other things. Luckily the VR1 works with this model, so plan on ordering one for it. It's an excellent TV that meets your basic needs for a great price. I highly recommend it.

If your used to a quality HD picture you won't find it on this set.Thought I'd give Vizio a try from all the good hype, well turned out to be just that -hype.Color is washed out and unsalvageable through settings ,tiles on high speed action scenes with the 120hz smooth motion enabled,sound is awful and the enclosure is cheap and flimsy (2 screws fell out upon opening box on the first set).If this is your first flatscreen or HD set you will probably get the wow syndrome from the picture quality your not used to and leave a good review,but trust me this is not a good example of HD and by the way adjusting the set to some of the settings recomended in previous reviews is just a bandaid to cover up mediocre picture quality ,spend the extra $100 or 2 and stick with a name brand ,your already spending $1100

We just purchased this TV about 3 weeks ago, and are still in love with it!!!!! After weeks and weeks of shopping around, I'm so happy I went with this LCD! It has a beautiful picture!!! We went from a 53' projection tv to the LCD and we can't get over how clear it is. Haven't even noticed the deduction in screen size due to the awesome picture!!! Love the piano black casing!!! It looks so classy!!! Sound qaulity is the only thing I can think of that could be better!!! We now have surround sound hooked up and there is no problems!!!!

After many visits online and off, to all the top Electronics stores. I finally broke down and bought the Vizio. I own a Samsung 42" plazma, and love it. However, I have an exremely brightly lit room and needed to get an LCD. Always leaning towards, Samsung, Sony and LG, I went to Walmart and side by side comparison with Samsung and Sony, the Vizio held up as good or better. The set up was simple, the remote a bit rudamentary, but plenty of imputs for everything you would ever need. Sound is good, but not great. If you buy this set you would hook up a home theater anyway. My only quam, is certain times the picture seems a bit washed out, but the I change the program and its as vivid as could be. I am going to say, its the programming. For the price, it is by far the best value, and am just waiting for the NFL to start.
