Hang on to your remote, 07/07/2009

Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

I own 2 olevia flat screens a 32in. and the 42in. Sound isn't the best, takes some adjustment. Biggest complant is remote, very cheap. And the TV is not compatable with any other universal remote. The company can not provide any codes for a remote.

The TV was received in excellant condition, picture is awesome. Only complaint I have is that I have a brand new TV but no Manufacturers warranty. Seems the company went out of business several months ago and there's no one taking their place to validate the warranty.

Great TV at an awesome price, 06/15/2009
By BarginHunter328, Bronx, NY
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

This television has many output cables for our DVD player, xbox, and wii! For $600 we were truly surprised to get such a great tv. I had never heard of Olevia but I read many great reviews in and outside of the Walmart website, so I went for it. I am so glad I did! This 42" is perfect, it does reach the 1080 level, so when we play the xbox we are so happy. My father spent more than $1500 on his television and when he saw ours he admitted that it was quite equal and that if he would've seen this one first, he would've grabbed it. And as far as the Olevia name, its growing more popular, after I bought this tv, I've seen it in so many places; including the Prudential Center in NJ! TRUST ME, you cannot go wrong!!!!!!
I would HIGHLY recommend anyone buying this television!!!!!!

Love Olevia, 06/14/2009
By an anonymous customer, Philadelphia, PA
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

I had been coveting a flat screen television for quite some time. I'd look at them longingly each time I'd visit Walmart but I always resisted. One morning I was doing some online shopping and found the Olevia. It was SO CHEAP! How could I say no? I clicked the button and bought it. I chose to have it delivered to the store where I would pick it up. BAD IDEA! This television is HUGE! I couldn't fit the box in my car! I had to rent a U-Haul to get it home. It cost a little over 60.00 to get it home but it was worth it. The tv was easy to set up and it works GREAT! I love it! The picture is unbelievably clear. The sound is great too. The menu is a little hard to work-- what I mean is getting the split screen and PIP to work and adding favorite channels etc... this isn't a deal breaker though. I love that I can add a ton of devices like my old VCR, my DVD, my VuNOW, etc. This is a great tv! I am very happy! Don't hesitate... buy it!

Very easy to connect, everything is clearly labeled on what plugs into where. I only needed help moving it because it is heavy. The picture is great, sound is awsome. The set up menu was a little aggrivating and confusing but we got it figured out and we were watching it within 20 minutes of starting.

Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

This is by far the greatest investment that I have made in an electronic purchase. The surround sound speakers on the TV are better than the surround sound system that I have. The picture is amazing, the color and the clarity. The graphics on my XBox 360 are phenomenal. I can't believe that this TV was only $600. If you are looking for a great TV, this is it. Don't be afraid of the low price because the picture is better than the higher priced HDTVs that I have seen. Buy it! You won't regret it. Seriously.

This tv is easy to use, excellent picture, easy hook ups. Had ZERO problems getting this TV from the Box to the Mount on the entertainment center. I am so glad I didnt waste 1000's of dollars on a Sony or other popular brand just to get the same quality. One thing that some people may want to know, although it does not bug me, it has a slower than normal "boot" up or start up. I think its about 7-9 seconds.

Review 18 for Olevia 42" Class Widescreen LCD HDTV, 242V

Great value, 06/07/2009
By BonusBuy, New York, NY
Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

If you want a solid HD picture at an inexpensive price this is your TV. It has all the inputs and features you need from an HD TV. The picture quality is what you would expect for 720P.

The only knock I put against this TV is the viewing angle. It is 178 degree viewing angle, however, if you go more than 45 degrees to either side of perpendicular the picture starts to look a little washed out. You can still see the picture clearly, it just looks like someone turned up the brightness setting a little. Since, I don't watch much TV from that angle in my room, I've found it to be a great buy, especially for the price. If that's something really important to you then shell out $1000 a get a top brand.

Review 19 for Olevia 42" Class Widescreen LCD HDTV, 242V

The Olevia TV's are Great, 06/06/2009
By notez2please, Hawaii
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

Too bad the company is having such a hard time (they may have already bellied-up). This is my second Olevia. I bought my first one in December 2006 (37 incher). I never heard of the Olevia brand before and I was worried. But in the end greatly satisfied. The price point is amazing for sure, but the value and performance you get out of the Olevia outshines it even more. A lot of my friends have Sony's and so when I decided to get another LCD for the living room (moved 37 to bedroom) I decided to give one a try and bought a Sony 46V4100. I could not find anything to convince myself that it was worth the extra $$$. Olevia's are hard to come by now anyway but I did come across this 242V. I bought it, took it home, hooked it up side by side to the sony and compared them. I turned the Sony off, packed it up, and took it back to the store. The Olevia was a 42" and the Sony was 46" but even at the same price and size (42 and 42 or 46 and 46) I would choose this Olevia. Some people complained about the menu. But I like-it-a-lot. It may take a little getting used to but in the end you can make your adjustments while watching your program without having the menu cover half the screen (like the sony did). The sony menu just seemed like layer under layer of options and submenus to navigate to what you wanted all while covering half the screen. With the Olevia, you just spin that wheel, select your item, make your adjustments, and your out. One litte menu wheel in the upper left corner. Same size, same place and not covering up half the screen, it's great!. Plus the location choices, size options (even half-half split screen!!) for picture in picture . . . . unreal. I was like YES!!! The blacks on the Olevia may not be as deep as the sony's (or sammy's, for that matter) but they are more than satisfactory and when it's supposed to be a daytime seen, it looks like one on the Olevia. Other name brands at Olevia's price point to not have a quality picture like the Olevia's. They usually look over saturated, the fleshtones tend to look fake and the shadow areas too dark and when you try to adjust the brightness to get detail in the dark areas, the entire picture looks washed out. I wish they were doing better as a company and thriving. Given time and following the price point pattern, features, and quality in their products, I think they would have faired better. More and more people who get a chance to see the Olevia's in action would wish they had gotten one when they were still around. Adding to that the great price is icing on the cake. If you haven't already seen these T.V.'s in action (and seeing is believing for you) you should find a way to check this T.V. out before you pay too much for way less with another brand. Certainly individual preferences vary and you may be disappointed. BUT I DOUBT IT. I love love love this TV. I got so much for so little.

My first flatscreen, 06/05/2009
By wylie26, Illinois
Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

Ok, this was my first flat screen tv so I don't have a lot to compare to. I am very happy with my purchase. The pictue looks great and it is pretty easy to use most of the features. The only thing negative I can say is that it takes about 20 seconds for the tv to come on after you hit the power button. As I said, never had a flatscreen before and maybe this is normal. Who cares, so I wait 20 seconds, the picture is worth it.
