Love this toaster!, 02/22/2010
By Ladyanne, Rumford, RI
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

Finally! I have a toaster that is long enough and deep enough to toast all sizes and types of bread. It toasts evenly, and easily accomodates 4 slices of regular bread . Longer breads will fit one per slot. I can't speak to durability because I have not had it long enough to make a judgement, but it has the appearance of durability-sturdy, not flimsy. I am very pleased with this product.

This is the 2nd Oster 4 slicer toaster that we purchased. We hated to part with the first, but it had seen its day. We love the features it provides. Its a great space saver for the counter tops. Very good value for the money. I would highly recommend this toaster.

Review 4 for Oster 4-Slice Long Slot Toaster

Okay toaster, 01/21/2010
By FrankesTravel, Chino Hills, CA
Overall Rating: 3 out of 5 3 out of 5

The toaster worked just fine for the first couple of weeks. Then shortly thereafter the automated shut-off at the end of the toasting cycle along with the toast pop-up feature failed to work properly. The heating elements shut off, but the toast did not pop-up and the power lights on the front panel remained on. This makes it diffucult to know when the toast is finished as it appears to still be "toasting" even after toasting is done. I will likely return it under warranty and get it replaced.

Review 5 for Oster 4-Slice Long Slot Toaster

Very disappointed, 01/02/2010
By jyhawk
Overall Rating: 2 out of 5 2 out of 5

I bought this toaster because I liked the size, look, simple features, and ability to toast 4 slices. I was very disappointed when it toasted one side of the bread much more than the other side and when I tried it again it burned one corner of the bread. I don't know why it is so difficult to make a decent toaster and this one is definitely not decent. I thought I would get a better one by getting one of the more expensive ones at Walmart. I was wrong.

This produce toasts the long slices of bread, but the top doesn't toast well. It's not deep enough for bagels. The bread does bot pop up high enough, sometimes it's hard to grab the bread.

Review 7 for Oster 4-Slice Long Slot Toaster

Deal breaker, 11/24/2009
By BenP, Fayetteville, AR
Overall Rating: 1 out of 5 1 out of 5

I want this toaster; the reviews are overall positive. I didn't note the two review comments about the short cord, but in my kitchen that became the deal breaker. It'll be returned to today, untried.
The 24-inch power cord begins at the bottom-front-right of the toaster. Front. That leaves about 10 inches for the nearest plug-in if you want the front of the toaster nearest the user. Standard home construction puts outlets away from corners. Means the toaster rests in the middle of the counter. With it abutting the backsplash, resting on a normal 24-inch deep counter, that leaves 10 inches as the prep area.
Our dozen-year-old Betty Crocker toaster (from W-M) is on its last legs, but its little cord feeds from the back, plenty of room to lie safely behind the rice cooker and coffee grinder.
Two positive notes: The manual indicates the toaster is made by Sunbeam -- a reliable maker.
The toaster's two long slots for four regular loaf slices or two round-loaf slices is brilliant. The cord issue means that's what I'll have to check on the shelf; I hope another Oster product from W-M has a consumer friendly cord design.

Review 8 for Oster 4-Slice Long Slot Toaster

Nice toaster, 09/29/2009
By GolfingGranny, Williamsville NY
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

We had to replace our well-used Oster four-slice toaster and needed to replace it with an elongated one like this. It does a really nice job toasting bread, English muffins, frozen french toast, etc. It is lightweight and with the controls in front, it is even easier to use than our previous one. The Walmart price was great as well -- I had seen it in a catalog for more money so was happy to see it at Walmart for less. It was easy to order it on Walmart.com as well when the store had no backup stock. Some breads, such as rye, take up more room so sometimes you can't toast four at once but that's the only drawback.

Looks and works great. I gave up my toaster oven for a pop up toaster the kids can use. After much research this is what I decided on. It was a great decision. You can toast 1-4 items at a time. They toast evenly. I like that you can push them up higher so you don't have to burn your fingers for an english muffin. Makes waffles crispy, too. Highly recommended!

Review 11 for Oster 4-Slice Long Slot Toaster

excellent toaster, 08/10/2009
By Carlsbader, Carlsbad, CA
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

I just purchased this toaster 2 days ago, so I have no opinion about its durability. It did a great job toasting hamburger buns, whole wheat bread, and long slices of sourdough, all on the 3 setting. I like the fact that the controls are on the long end, because it fits well on my kitchen counter. It smelled bad the first time I used it, so follow the directions and toast without food in the slot for the first toasting.

Review 12 for Oster 4-Slice Long Slot Toaster

Looks good but does not work, 07/26/2009
By LLBB, Winston-Salem, NC
Overall Rating: 2 out of 5 2 out of 5

This toaster looks really good but it would not pop up whatever I was toasting if it was more then 2 slices. I tried 4 slices of frozen french toast. I had to pop it up myself. I tried 4 pieces of lighter bread and it would not pop up either. It only popped up on its own when I toasted 2 slices. I saw some negative reviews on another retail site but since most were good here I decided to try it out. I wish it did work because it was nice looking but for the price I expect it to pop on its on not by me having to look in the toaster to see if its done. The other review is correct you will have to have it close to plug because the cord is short because its on the front and not much slack but that was fine for me but may not be for others. I did like the fact the crumb tray is in the front. I really liked that and that can be hard to find. I will be taking this back.

Review 13 for Oster 4-Slice Long Slot Toaster

Great toaster for the money, 07/21/2009
By GadgetGirl007
Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

Toasts breads evenly on low settings. Once you use higher settngs (4-5 on up) the edges of the bread are very dark--at times burnt.

The settings will vary depending on how many slices of bread you put in the toaster. For example a setting of 3 for one slice. For 2-4 slices a setting of 4-5 works well without burning the edges.

Once you get the settings down it will make perfect toast. It was a bit of trial and error here for us, but overall I would recommend this toaster. After reading many toaster reviews prior to purchasing this one it seems there is no "perfect" toaster so I'll deal with the little temperature quirks with this one.

Design--great looking and takes up less counterspace than the old bulky 4 slice toasters. The plastic is the typical cheap feeling plastic all low priced appliances are made from. It does stay cool to the touch when it use.

The BEST TOASTER!!!, 07/02/2009
By Biscuitball, Betsy Layne, KY
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

We bought this toaster to replace a toaster (the one that makes an egg on the side) we got for Christmas, and WE LOVE IT!!! It has long, extra-wide slots for any size bread, etc. You get even toasting on both sides (shade setting 2 makes perfect toast for our family). Love the cancel button, and the crumb tray is easy to take out and replace for cleaning. The unit also looks very nice on our counter, and is extremely easy to clean. Highly recommend this toaster!!!

The Perfect Toaster, 06/15/2009
By Chuckstr
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

This thing is great , especially for large bread. The only down side is the cord. It needs to be on the backend or a few inches longer. It comes out the front right side. When the toaster is perpendicular to the wall the cord just reaches, with not much slack.

Great Toaster, 05/26/2009
By Blazer78, Oregon

We are very happy with our new Oster toaster. Finally we have a toaster that will accept the wider whole grain and other specialty breads. I love the feature that allows you to lift the bread after it toasts so you don't have to flip the toaster and shake out the toast if it becomes lodged in. This Oster toaster looks great on our counter, too.
