Samsung HDMI DVD Home Theater System with 1080p Upscale, HT-Z320

i purchased my samsung about 3 weeks ago from Walmart in omaha nebraska and it meets my basic needs. for under 250 you cant go wrong unless you need big sound, its no 1000W powerhouse but is plenty for my basement (approx 700ft2). my friends hi end 500W older bose system is by far higher w/ less W but bigger wires and quality. i use it on a 42" LCD w/ average to sub par speakers so this is a huge performance boost, only about 2 - 2 1/2 times louder in reality but guitar hero and first person shooters are great with this system....i dont use the dvd player bc i got a ps3 blu ray for that so im only rating it based on sound.....if you have twice as much to spend please do and get a better system, if not buy this, if looking at a even cheaper system do your self a favor and spend at least 200 a min. for quality. samsung is a great brand and this is a good entry level system for a small to med size room. set up is frustrating and the user manual is no help, use the included setup mic for where you'll be listening from and dont place the 2front speakers near the center one or they'll be overpowered and not heard, place the rear speakers close to the couch or turn them up higher then the front in order to get the full effect....base is sub par but hey its only 230 or so?

Pros:
good sound for main 5 speakers, highs are very crisp, not difficult to operate

Cons:
PROPRIETARY SPEAKER PLUGS(stupid idea)
subwoofer sounds awful
center channel a bit wimpy

speaker conections and subwoofer keep my from giving it a higher score

This system is well below par. The volume of system is not at all what you would expect from 1000 watts. I previously owned a Phillips system that was easily twice as loud and had tons more bass.

The iPod/iPhone/remote/onscreen display integration was the worst I have ever seen. I have roughly 4,000 songs on my iPhone. I selected "Songs" on the onscreen display and had to turn the system off and back on to get it to respond to the remote. It froze trying to list all 4,000 songs. That is atrocious. It was only 32GB of songs on a iPhone 3GS.

If you want medium volume and minimal ROI, this is your product.

Pros - Nice packaging. Easy to repack.

Cons - Seriously, is this supposed to be a home theater system or a bedside clock. My iHome alarm clock is louder and sounds about the same!!!

I wish it was multi CD/DVD...but i guess its alright..very nice sound though. I would suggest that if you are looking for a Home Theater System get it for no less 1000 watts! that really makes a difference!..

Bought this as a package deal, but can not get surround Sound when using regular TV, Only when playing DVD, CD or Radio... I would like to have surround sound while watching regular TV..

I purchased the HT Z320 Samsung home theater recently. I was not impressed at all. For the $300 I spent I could have just spent $100 more and I would have got 10 times the theater system. The sound is not that great. The speakers are poorly made, and the mode button on the remote dont work. I have been on the phone with Samsung about five times, and still no solution to the problem. I spent alot of time hiding the speaker wires and mounting them on the walls. It is ashame that I am going to have to rip it all down when I get a different system. I guess its just another lesson of live and learn. The bottom line is you get what you pay for.

the system is OK, good picture, nice sound. There were some issues with connecting the system to my samsung TV for the sound from the TV to come through the home theater speakers. I don't know if the problem was with the TV or the home theater system. I used the HDMI connection, but in order to utilize the surround sound I had to connect the componet part with the sound cables, you have to turn down the sound of the TV because the sound between the tv and theater system is not sync. Overall the system is nice for the money.

Makes regular movies look incredible. No glitches or hic ups. Everything works great.

Great sound, but there was not enough speaker wire provided.
