I bought this dehydrator 3 weeks ago and used it once to make cookies. I tried to use it today to dry fruit and it didn't work. Will have to return it.

Bought the Oster FPSTDH0101 at Walmart the week before - it was awful. Read reviews and everyone said to hurry and return it and get the Nesco instead. I did, and I'm thrilled! The Nesco doesn't sound like I'm in an airport (as did the Oster), it dehydrates fairly evenly for a home-use machine, comes with fruit leather trays and small-food trays. I didn't understand from the product description that it would come with 5 dehydrating trays, 2 small-food trays and 2 fruit leather trays, so I'm happy with the extras. I will be purchasing more trays because it seems that no matter what I do, I always want more space. The fruit leather with pureed strawberries was a hit with the kids-next door! A 16 oz pck of fresh strawberries makes 1.5 oz of dehydrated. I agree that it needs an on/off switch, but I solved that by plugging it into a power strip with an on/off switch, otherwise you have to unplug it every time you want to check.

It works very well, in fact, I finished my first round of jerky in about 1/2 the time anticipated. If that wasn't goid enough, I got this one for $20 less than someone I know that purchased direct from the manufacturer.

Purchased this dehydrator to make sweet potatoe treats for my dogs. Still in the learning stage as for timing, only have for a couple of weeks. Happy with it and would recommend this machine. Have done bananas and strawberries. Both of which could have used more time but like I said previously still in learning stage. Wish the book that came with machine had information re sweet potatoes. Easy to clean.

This dehydrator is a cut above many of the other dehydrators on the market since it includes a fan and a thermostat heat control. No need to rotate the trays either since this dehydrator's design keeps the heat distribution even throughout the drying process. Add a Stanley 38424 TimerMax Digislim Daily Digital Indoor Timer to this dehydrator and you now also have an on/off control for your food drying time.
The first use I made of this dehydrator was of course to make beef jerky. Almost immediately in the dehydrating process, the air in my home was filled with the awesome smell of the marinade that was used on the beef strips. The jerky was ready in about 4 hours. It was absolutely delicious! When you think of beef jerky, don't think of the store bought kind because home made jerky is soooo much better(I can't tolerate the taste of commercially prepared jerky).
Aside from making jerky, I bought this dehydrator to prepare food to take on my backpacking and camping trips. Commercially prepared, freeze dried meals for camping are good tasting quality products but can be quite expensive...about 5 to 7 dollars or more per package. This dehydrator will pay for itself in a very short period of time.
If you're looking for a reasonably priced, high quality dehydrator, buy this model. You will not be disappointed!

This is my first time dehydrating. I was turned on to this by a friend. I just did some red peppers and they were so good. I know I have to do some trial and error, but this unit is very easy to use and cleans up very easily. I will be trying some apples, bananas, and lots of other things. Can't wait to see how things turn out. Who knows, maybe I'll even be daring and try some jerky?????

I think the nesco 5 tray dehydrator is well worth it i've used it every day sense i got .it really only takes a few hours not day to make beef jerky love need to order more tray to make more at one time very easy to clean i love it

I read the reviews on this product and overall it probably works great for other people; however, for me I guess I don't have the time or patience to prepare the food, place it on trays, and wait for the length of time to dehydrate (I tried strawberries on only two trays). It is probably a great product like I said for others - but just wasn't worth the time and effort for me. I thoroughly cleaned the two trays (they weren't bad any way) and will be returning it back to the store.

I'm really happy with my new dehydrator. I had an older model Nesco dehydrator--it's probably 8 years old now and still works, but wanted a new one. I dry things weekly. I've used this one for drying tomatoes and yellow peppers, and it did a great job. Faster than my older one, and I love the temperature gage. I would definately recommend it.

This dehydrator is serving us great so far! It is very quite which is nice. I love that I don't have to have all the trays stacked in there if I don't need them. I have found the timing and heating in the instruction guide to be pretty accurate thus far. The only this I need to figure out is where to store it...a problem I can definitely deal with.

I ordered this on 4-11-2013 and the estimated delivery is 4-25-2013? These are pretty good dehydrators but they must be on a slow boat from china... 2 weeks shipping is a little much, I would advise try to buy from the store or some place else !

would have given 5 star but has no timer..seems like food took forever to dry..book said 4 to 12 hours..that is a big gap...still took almost 16 hours to dry...maybe i should have bought the more expensive machine..i will keep working with it..

I looked at a couple of top 10 lists for dehydrators and the story is the same as when I shopped for a juicer... This one is #2, only to be outdone by a $300+ Excalibur. I'm tickled with it and after only a week have dried fruit, veggies, jerky, and a pair of socks. Excellent buy.

I bought this unit because of the review scores and got it about a week ago. It is the first dehydrator that I have owned. I dried fresh strawberries and canned pears on the first use and made Wild Goose Jerky on the second use. Both came out exceptional by following the instructions and with the included jerky cure. I found it easier to clean after use than I expected with neither the fruit or meat sticking to the trays. I ran the trays in the dishwasher and they came out clean. The Jerky Spice & Cure that Nesco included is some of the best I have ever tasted so I will be ordering a bunch of that as well as two more trays from them. An order form was included with very reasonable prices. The only change I could recommend is a way to lock it together to keep people from snitching the jerky before it was completely done. Enjoy.

I got this mainly for jerky but I now have discovered the versatility of dehydrating
many foods, I'm hooked! The FD-75PR has the primary functions of a good dehydrator
(i.e) settings for drying times and drying temperatures, and you will need all 5 trays that
come with it. I ordered 2 more for extra area. I highly recommend this model!

Most dehydrators take over night not for a full loaded unit , when doing 2 trays took only 9 hrs , great unit . Make sure you get a small hand stubby cleaning brush it helps with clean up.

I needed an inexpensive dehydrator that does the job it is intended to do as easily as possible and that is what I got. Automatic shut off would be nice for most of us, but at what cost? Not having one is not a problem for me. I have used this item twice with quiet, perfect results. Am very pleased but have no idea as to durability. But seems very promising. I would definitely recommend to others with the same needs.
