Eureka Pet Pal Bagless Vacuum

I noticed that a lot of the positive reviews for this vacuum were written shortly after purchase. I don't post reviews early since it's hard to tell good vacuums from bad within the first few uses.

Here is a short list of issues, see explanations below for more details:

- easy breaking belt
- poor dirt chamber/filter design
- needs to be emptied VERY frequently and not because it's full
- does not have good suction
- cannot pick up cat litter
- died after 5 months of easy use

I purchased this vacuum in June 2009. It worked great initially but the belt broke on it's second outing. I am always careful about picking up bits and pieces before I vacuum so I don't understand how/why that happened.

An issue I noticed right away is how dust and hair collected up on the filter (wraps around tight), not in the bottom of the container. This quickly reduces the suction power. I had to dump the contents 2-3 times each time I vacuumed my 750 sq ft apartment just to keep the suction strong enough.

The pet paw worked okay for the first month, then the vacuum notably lost suction power making the tool useless.

It would leave heavy particles (cat litter) in a small pile on the floor after I turned the vacuum off.

If that weren't bad enough, it couldn't even get the cat litter off of my utility rug...

The vacuum has a good concept and appeal to pet owners, but do yourself a favor and don't buy one.

I replaced this vacuum with a Hoover Powerforce bagless for $46 and vacuumed the area that I had just finished when the Eureka died. It collected a couple cups of material in about 100 sq ft... I'll see how this one performs over the next couple months...

I've had this vac for 5 months now, since July this year. What sold me were the great reviews (at the time) but now I'm seeing loads of bad reviews. I clean the vacuum after each use and make sure there's no large debris on the floor before use that will harm it, however the belt already broke. I use my vacuum 2-3 times a month. The belts are supposed to be replaced after 12 months. I have 2 cats both short hair. It does get great suction, but the belt breaking already bothers me. I hope it doesn't end in a disaster like the other consumers reviews. I'll see how it runs after the belt is replaced. I got my fingers crossed. Luckily if there's any other problems I got the company and Wal-Mart 1 year warranty to back me up.

At first this Vacuum worked great, I liked the rotary brush attachment a lot. But after only a few uses , the belt broke. I thought maybe it was a faulty belt, but when I replaced it, it broke again in only a few weeks. If this was the only problem, I could have lived with the vacuum. However, it would also stop sucking and I would have to unclog it pretty much every time I used it. It has since started overheating and doesn't pick up a single thing. I have quit using it altogether since it started smelling like it was burning every time it was on for more than 2-3 minutes. I have only had this vacuum about 5 months. I guess you get what you pay for so I am waiting on delivery of my Dyson Pet Ball. Hope it will be a better investment.

When I first got this vacuum, I loved it. Things have since gone awry and the love affair has ended.

It no longer sucks up even the slightest amount of hair, no matter how many times I clean the filters and hoses, which by the way, gets annoying to have to do several times through a vacuum session of what is a considerably small space. I have one dog and one cat and thought this was just what I needed to keep the hair in check but I am really disappointed in the performance of this vacuum. I do not recommend this product if you have more than one pet and/or a small messy child. It will not clean up after either for very long.

I was setting out to reorganize my house today and decided that I needed to buy a new vacuum. I have five large dogs and they are inside/outside dogs. So I compared different models and read a lot of reviews and went to the store, and bought this vacuum. It was exactly the price that was online which thrilled me since I know that the online price can differ from the store price.

I love this vacuum. I would buy it a thousand times over again. I have a friend that came over to help me with my house endeavor and he loves the product as well. He says that he gives is a 5 star rating as well. It cleaned the carpet and brought it back to almost new appearance. The curtains it did amazing things with. It cleaned walls, furniture, stuffed animals.....etc etc...there was not anything that we put it up against that it did not clean. I love the fact that you have a cleanable filter, so that you dont have to replace it all the time, but you do have to keep it clean to keep the suction power up which is great in this machine. I have never owned a machine like it ever. It is exceeds all my expectations in what I wanted in a vacuum. I think that for the money it is a wonderful product...I definately would reccomend this product.

When my $40 Bissell started making crazy noises and I couldn't figure out the problem, I figured it was time for a new vac. I have 2 kids, a husband and a cat, and I can't go a single day without a thorough vacuuming of my home.
I read and researched different vacuums and thought this one would be perfect.
As with any brand-new vacuum, the first few uses I was totally impressed. However, after those first few uses, the vac totally lost suction. So, I cleaned it all out, washed the filters, used the hose of my old vac to suck out clogs in my new one's hoses. Once the filter was dry, I powered it up and it worked okay again. For half my living room. Then there was no suction again. I think I already need to replace the filter and I've only used it about 10 times total!
I did not realize before I bought the vac that the filters are not permanent and need to be replaced every 3-6 months, or in a case similar to mine, probably every month- or less apparently. That's a little irritating.
I do like how flexible the hose is, however, it is too long and clogs very easily. The fact that it loops down and back up when using the vacuum for carpets is a poor design. The filter in the dust cup is also placed too close to the intake opening of the cup, so if you have pets or lots of hair you are vacuuming, you will need to stop and remove the cup to move the hairballs down into the bottom of the cup!
The other thing I found annoying is that when you are using the hose, the vacuum tips backwards extremely easily. Thankfully the vacuum is pretty light and so having the handle smacking you in the head isn't painful (haha?).
For a vacuum that claims to be perfect for furry households, the design is completely not made for it! I am thoroughly disappointed, and a little more annoyed because the price of the vac has dropped nearly $20 since I purchased it!

I bought this about 6 months ago, i have to say i still love it! 2 dogs and a 3 yr. old and it still does the job.The only thing that i can find wrong with it is clogging in the hose holder, and where the hose goes into the deck of the vacuum. I have to take it apart before each use and clean them out.Other than that, it still picks up great!

I just bought this product yesterday and I love it. It was easy to put together, not to heavy and purple. The old vacuum I had we would vacuum everyday and it still wouldn't get all the hair (we have two dogs and two cats) It isn't to loud and the duster is perfect for cleaning my ceiling fans (no more standing on a ladder to dust them). I also love the belt view window so you can see the condition of the belt in case you have to change it. Another good thing is the foot pedal on/off button

I purchased this vacuum in June and felt compelled to write a review. I can honestly say that I owned a Simplicity Vacuum which cost me $400+++. After buying the Eureka Pet Pal Bagless Vacuum just for fun I changed the bag in my Simplicity and vacuumed my home and then I re-vacuumed with my new vacuum and I was just shocked at how much hair it took off my carpet after just doing it. I own two golden retrievers and a cat and I know that I never wanted people to sit on my carpet for they would be covered in hair, BUT no more! I love all the attachments very easy to use.
The only thing negative I can say about this vacuum is that it is not good on bare floors, so with that being said I guess people will have to decide which it more important bare floors or carpets.

All and all this is the best vacuum I have ever purchased that truly gets the hair off my carpets and furniture. I am thinking about buying another just to have!!
