This book was awesome. I really enjoyed the characters and the two authors, Wayne Thomas Batson and Christopher Hopper, know how to put a story together. Each character had their own battle they had to face which brought great examples of forgiveness, sacrifice, trust, and acceptance of one's self. An example of how anger and hate is a destroyer was also in the book. The characters learn about how to trust God even in the most desperate circumstance. The book is meant for those 12 and up and is an excellent book for anyone looking for a decent story for a young adult.

This book deserves 100+ stars. Even though there are many points of view in this book, it is an easy follow, and you also get to know what every character is feeling (there are seven main characters!). The title of this book might scare you away: Curse of the *Spider King*. That was me too. I didn't want to read it because of the spiders. I was surprised when I finally read the book. There weren't very many spiders in it at all! You may hear that this book is written for the youth, but this book is an attention grabber for anyone: children, young adults, adults. I would very highly recommend this book to anyone.

Captain Declan Ross thought it was over. Much of the treasure was recovered, and now he and his crew are working for England, recruiting pirates from the high seas.
But Thorne isn't dead. He's planning revenge, using a forgotten people, decendants of the vicious Vikings--and he plans to turn England into an isle of horror and fire. His greatest ally is the mysterious Merchant, a ruthless and cunning person that has been haunting the western world for years.
Captain Ross is the only hope England has--and England's king has betrayed him for the treasure.
This book was amazing. It didn't seem to have as much 'point' in the plot as Isle of Swords did (like the treasure), but nonetheless, it was another rollicking adventure from Wayne Thomas Batson. I highly recommend this for anyone, even if you don't like pirate stories. Trust me, this is no ordinary 'pirate story'.

Review 4 for Curse of the Spider King
Who Likes Elves?

This is a perfect book if you love Elves (and who doesn’t).
After the Spider King minions destroyed the Elven kingdom Berinfell. He had hoped that was the end of the elves, but something happened that he had not planed… With the Allyran Elves almost non-existent they have one hope. That hope is on earth, hidden in a billions people. This is a fun and exciting book for anyone who likes fantasy.
There are a few things that I don’t like though. 1) The ages of the main characters are 13, I like books where the hero’s are slightly older. 2) The names are a little hard to keep track of and there are three names that I had a lot of trouble with. Their names are Tommy, Jimmy, and Johnny. So you can see to many “mmy’s” and “nny’s.”

The spider king is on the hunt again. Searching for seven elven lords, lost to earth hundreds of years ago. But he has ears everywhere, and it seems they live, and are about to reach the age of reckoning. Read the book, and see what happens to 7 “normal” kids with abnormal abilities! Curse of the Spider king, masterful book by Wayne Batson, and Christopher Hopper. The second book in the series came out June 22nd!!!

Spiders. No one really likes spiders. Little creepy, crawly things that spin webs; get in your house; and the worst thought of all: they drink the blood of their prey. Ick! But what else can spiders do? Well, the new book by authors Wayne Thomas Batson and Christopher Hopper, literally opens up a whole new world. The Spider King holds an ancient grudge against the Elves and desires to destroy their homes, their culture, and their world. He amasses forces to consume all of Allyra. After murdering the seven Elven lords, nothing now stands between the Elves and the destruction of the Spider King but seven tiny babies, the firstborns of the Elf Lords – the last hope of the Elves. Though commanded to kill the babes, the Spider King’s assassins do not, in fear of the ancient curse that protects the firstborn Elf Lords. Instead, they hide children on Earth, deciding to kill them once they reach the age of reckoning and are no longer under the curse’s protection. Years pass, and the Spider King’s minions enter Earth again, this time for blood. However, the Elves are also searching for the children, as the preservation of their race hinges on the return of the Lords to Allyra. But if the Spider King’s minions find the lords first, all hope for the Elves will vanish. The race is on. Adventure awaits. The Curse of the Spider King is masterfully written, weaving together colorful plots and genuine, engaging characters. The seven teenagers are just like any kid you might find in any middle school. They have their faults, their hurts, their dreams. As diverse as they come, you have Tommy, curly-haired and unremarkable; Kat, rich but friendless; Kiri Lee, a musical prodigy; Jett, a star football player; Jimmy, a lonely, unloved orphan; and Johnny and Autumn, your average siblings. The adults in the book are refreshingly smart and honorable, unlike most portrayed in books and movies nowadays. They deserve your respect and they exceed your expectations. Witty at times, but strong and dependable, the teachers and librarians are true friends to the seven teens. Beautiful description paints the scenes of the book with vivid color, while adrenaline-filled car chases, battle scenes, and midnight escapes grip and draw you in. Sprinkled with a good dose of laughs, this book will have you chuckling over and over again. The Curse of the Spider King will mesmerize you, each hair-raising plot twist pulling you deeper and deeper into the amazing struggles and heroic victories of the seven Elven Lords.

Review 7 for Curse of the Spider King

Curse of the Spider King (CotSK) begins around 800 years ago on another planet. The messenger appointed to earth returns with the news that the curse of said Spider King has misfired and that the lords and ladies still live. However they have been scattered among the earth's population having been robbed of their elven markings to enable them to blend in. But as the elves realize the task before them of recovering the 7 lords so do the ancient assassins who were tasked with killing the lords orginaly (and you thought only mafia people wear trench coats). With the terrifying drefids closing in for the kill the elves rush their rescue efforts ahead no matter the cost bringing the ages old war to earth in its life and death finality. Definitely a book worth rereading because of the depth involved but not too complicated to be enjoyed at once. With just enough hints of reality to make you wonder, the authors weave a spell in the tradition of the finest fantasy authors. Look for the second book coming summer of 2010 to continue the adventure. To check out the authors' site visit http://www.enterthedoorwithin.blogspot.com/ and as the elves say "Endurance and Victory"
