It's a real guitar!

First, I'll preface this by saying that I have played and owned several guitars before.
I hadn't played any guitar in over 2 years when I recently got "the bug" again. I wanted something inexpensive, and I chose to order from Walmart for budget reasons. I considered prices, specifications, brands, and reviews of all of the guitars I could find on walmart.com.
I wanted a brand that I have some familiarity with (Kona), good reviews, and under $100. I settled on this product and crossed my fingers that this would be a real guitar (not a toy), and that the positive reviews were on track.
My package arrived yesterday. I tuned it up, strummed out a couple of quick songs, and then fine tuned. I spent the next few hours playing, and had a blast. It held a tune pretty well for about 3 hours of playing; this is a factor I really appreciate, and one that you don't always find in less expensive instruments.
For those who are interested, I found the feel and action similar to entry level guitars from Fender, Takamine, and Ibanez.

The tuner is basic, but it works. I have already gotten some value from the book because I'm learning some chord names that I didn't know. The gig bag is thin, but I didn't want or expect much of it. I haven't used the CD, but I'm give a high rating based on the guitar itself.

I bought this guitar for my son for his 9th birthday and he loves it!!!! I think it is really nicely made and it comes with accessories which makes it great for beginners. I am going to get my son in guitar lessons and down the road he will get a more expensive guitar, but this is perfect for now.

I bought two of these, one for my son and one for myself. I ordered online, site-to-store, and it has never failed me. However, I was worried when the Walmart worker that got the boxes for me said she bought one and the guitar was busted from the Nut up. But both guitars were in perfect order. And my son and I are learning to play quickly. Great item to buy for beginners or for kids.

You get what you pay for. This is a low end gautar. It is difacult to fret and tone quality is poor.
I obtained this gautar as a instament to keep in practice while on a out of state job. I tried several ajjustments of the neck, and could not obtain a normal feel of the fret board. It requires considerablely more preasure and has a tendancy to buzz when moving from one fret to the other.
I feel that as a beginners gaurar, it would be eazier to learn on a higher end gautar.

can't beat it for the money

To get a kid started on a musical instrument without a huge investment this guitar set is perfect. Pretty good quality in the first place but the accessories make it a really good deal for the money. Was a great present for my 10 year old and with a couple starter lessions I hope he is off and running. Not a big video game fan, and makes a great parent/child project.

The guitar is good quality; makes rich sounds when strummed. The book is helpful for beginner. The electric tuner is useful for retuning, not for initial tuning. The gig bag is well made with straps and carry handle. Overall, a great value buy. I'm happy with it as a beginner level guitar player.

This option for a beginner is for the most part a decent option. One of the things I noticed immediately is how high the guitar strings are from the Frets. You need to really press down hard on them. A friend of mine has a guitar he has had for years and plays it with light pressure as the strings are very close to the Frets. His guitar pick can actually be placed between the strings and the neck and held on place. This cannot be done with this guitar. But I have enjoyed using the Guitar Basics for Dummies. I am enrolled in lessons at my Community College at the end of this month and feel this has helped me get a bit of a head-start.

My girls,15 and 17, each needed a secondary instrument for school and wanted to try guitar. The price was right but the quality for the price was outstanding. I bought two of these and they are both great guitars. They play well and sound great. I have 32 years in the music business and I have never seen such quality for the money.

I was suprised to see how solid the guitar was, I figured it would be made out of some kind of hard plastic. It came with a tuner and three pics, the tuner worked fine once I figured out how to use it. I have always wanted to learn to play a guitar but living on a tight buget I had given up on my dream. now I can learn to play the book and dvd are ok but the only thing I don't understand is what is the alan wrench for?

For the first timer, this guitar is a good bargain. It has all the necessary options included. The only thing I would recommend is to purchase set of new guitar strings as a add-on gift since this does not include a set of strings. Otherwise, this is a perfect gift.
