The Black and Decker Electric LH4500 LeafHog Blower/Vacuum is ideal for vacuuming leaves, grass clippings, twigs, pine needles, and other lawn debris. The high performance 12 Amp vacuum device blows with up to 240 mph speed to remove matted and large piles of leaves. It features a built in metal mulching impeller that can reduce 16 bags of pile-up waste to just one bag for easy disposal. It has 385 CFM air volume capacity that accounts for quick and efficient clean-up. It comes with a leaf blaster nozzle whose action creates an air turbulence to loosen leaves and debris from grass areas for a faster clean-up. In addition, it widens the air path for easy clean-up and saves time. The 2-speed control switch allows you to set a low speed while cleaning around flower beds and mulched areas. This well-designed lawn leaf vacuum has an anti-clog vortex vacuum system to prevent clogging during mulching. The 3-in-1 outdoor blower, vacuum and mulcher keeps your driveway and yard tidy.

Even though the vacuum works very well, and I especially like the two speed motor, the collection bag is very cumbersome and awkward to use. I find the bag very bulky and it makes the unit hard to manage as it fills up because it's on the bottom of the unit. I vacuum leaves from a rock ground cover and the unit doesn't suck the rocks which is a really big feature for me.

i have a big tree that that makes a mess all through out the year, and this leaf vac is just the perfect thing,just picks up leaves and twigs and wont pick up anything else like stones or anything that would mess the blades, love using it.

Great leaf blower but not the best vacuum. You need to put it right down on top of leafs. mulches nicely what it does pic up. I would reccomend if you just want to blow leafs.

My first use of use of a leak blower/vac and this produce works great! All functions worked good and the vac chews all the leaves up also. Stay away from small rocks as this picked them up too!

Purchased this leaf blower/Vaccum to eliminate excess leaves after two years of not moving a single leaf. It surely was a good idea to get the blower with the higher speed as when we started the removal, we found that the leaves had piled up and compressed the lowest layer, almost like a layer of adobe. It took longer than expected and after reading some of the rerviews on the site, I was fully expecting the blower to start smoking... to sieze up due to the amount of continuous running. Do not believe the hype. This blower is noisey, but it does a fantastic job of moving the items you want removed, to include snow! It does a great job of 'bagging' the leaves/sticks/paper and whatever else you have managed to pile up. The only bad side is that some type of hearing protection, as well as eye protection, should be listed in the operating manual. REQUIRED!! I am a disbled Veteran with Heart and breathing problems and it was a delight to operate this handy dandy blower... it was easier to operate than I had anticipated and I would gladly reccommend it to anyone looking for an electric blower!

works fine except that the flap inside the bag got ripped and clogged by the debris that was not mulched so had to cut the flap so debris would go into the bag

Leaf Raking Made Easy

Love my new Blower / Vacuum! I first tried to just vacuum up the leaves without raking / blowing them into a pile...It is much easier to blow the leaves into a pile and then suck them up.
It was easy to assemble, easy to use & easy to dump the mulched leaves out of the bag.
Good power, big opening to suck the leaves in without clogging, lots of leaves fit in a small bag.
My friend loves the mulched leaves for tilling into her garden.
Need a second blower to blow off all the dust on the machine as well as from my clothes. More leaf dust coming out of the bag than I had expected, but will deal with that because I love this tool.
It was easy to assemble, easy to use & easy to dump the mulched leaves out of the bag.

Good product, small leaf bag

This blower/vacuum is great! It has a couple of speeds to meet different situations and several attachments. It's fairly light weight but the leaf bag does not hold too many leaves. I have 2 mature trees in my front yard and emptied the bag over 15 times when cleaning up leaves this Saturday. It would be nice if they offered a larger bag attachment. Also, the leaves stick in the chute that runs within the bag and have to be physically pulled out. Overall, the product lives up to expectations and would be great for someone with less leaves in their yard.

After reading some reviews I was still worried about buying this product. I am very amazed very powerfull. Good size light weight. Blades cut threw leaves easily. bag was bigger than i expected I have used gas blowers and this is just as powerfull and very very simple to change from blower to vac. I would deffinetly recommed.

I have a blower but needed a vacuum. This works great. I put the strap over my head and always release the bag from the unit to empty. The release is easy to use. It has a metal 'chopping' blade so it works well.
Delivery was faster than expected. I used ship to store option.

a bit heavy, a bit hard to change

This is my 2nd B&D blower/Vac. My first one lasted 5+ years, we actually replaced the bag and the plastic impeller and it kept on working great, till it sucked up some thread that wrapped around a bearing. Now it overheats shortly after you turn it on, so time for a new one.
This unit has a metal impeller so that ends one issue with the old unit. The price increase for buying it as metal was less then I paid for the replacement plastic one so it's a true win. Check 4 for value.
As far as its main functions, blowing and vacuum, they are both very good. In use it seems a little heavier then my old unit, but soon get used to that.
Main drawbacks are the old unit had 2 attachments: blower tube and the vacuum tube (plus the bag). This unit needs a third piece to change between modes; just something else to get lost in the yard while working. Also, the attachments are very difficult to remove or attach. This may be because they are new but it was a struggle to get a full bag off the unit, and changing tubes they would not come off or stay on without some muscle.
So knock "meets" & "Overall" to 3 stars. Though it is a good unit it isn't as good as the old one and could be better.
