The kayak itself is great. However, it was scuffed up on the bottom in the front and back, like it wasn't handled correctly in the warehouse. The seat back is awesome...love how it sits up high, great support. The only real downfall that this kayak has is there is no dry storage area and the paddles that come with it are much heavier than the other paddles that we have for our other kayaks.

I bought this for my 11 year old son. He took it out for the first time last night and loved it! Lots of room in the back for a cooler, etc. He was also able to put his fishing pole in one of the holes and it fit nicely. I would highly recommend this Kayak!

The kayak itself was NOT the one pictured. The seat was different, there is NO storage in the back as in the photo and the wrap was ripped with multiple scratches on the kayak itself.

Just bought this online and got to use it at the lake this weekend. Even though it was too cold to really get in the water, we got ON his kayak, paddled around for fun, and didn't get wet (except our feet). My 7 yr old daughter was able to maneuver it around easily. This kayak is super stable...no fear of tipping. Very happy with this purchase!

This is a nice little sit on top kayak. I was a little concerned about the length of the boat and foot holds for long legs...no worries here, the length was perfect and would have been perfect if my legs had been 6" longer and I'm tall. The price was right and the fact that it included the paddles and hanging or carrying straps was a real plus. The kayak has 5 scupper holes and only came with three scupper plugs...I simply stopped by my local Walmart and picked up a package of foam practice golfballs to use as plugs for the additional holes...$3.00 with enough balls for the two kayaks we purchased. the golf balls were the same color as the kayak so it all worked out well. We will be taking them out on the lake this weekend...I know they will work well as we are experienced with sit on top kayaks...we own a tandem sit-on-top as well. After sitting in the kayak to get a feel for it I personally will be purchasing a simple kayak seat pad available at a local sporting goods shop for $9 ...the tandem kayak we already own did not require a padded seat as it's design was a little better in this area..I hope this helps you with your decision to purchase this kayak.

This Kayak is identical to the Daylite Monterrey w/o the sail. The Walmart pictures are convoluted with another brand of Kayak called the Dragonfly. These ate not the same Kayak. It was pleasant surprise to find it was the Monterrey. The Monterrey has a more comfortable seat.

it was a great bargain and had all the extras as advertised but the kayak itself was NOT the one pictured. The seat was different ...no storage in the back, and there was NO handle for ease of carrying which was the biggest thing for me. Returned it and chose to shop in person elsewhere so I could see exactly what I am getting. If the handle is not an issue for you this kayak would be great though. good luck.

The correct model for this kayak with the YELLOW BACK support, is model #90105. They only sell this one at one other dealer, and it's $333. Hope this helps someone like me, who almost bought it.

I bought two of these after much research on the internet and after reading many reviews. One of the reasons I chose this particular one was because of the backrest which acted as a dry storage compartment. The kayaks I received had a different backrest with no storage, so I was quite disappointed at this. Otherwise they met all our expectations. They are stable, easy to paddle and fun to use.

I ordered a Lifetime Daylight Kayak with its very handy feature of carrying handles on sides (as depicted on Walmart's advertisement), but what I received was a Monterey model which does not have this handy feature. When I went to the Lifetime web site, it was updated to show this new Monterey design for all three product line of Lotus, Daylite and Monterey. They were nice enough to include a free carrying shoulder strap and furthermore (according to the web site), this design has an improved tracking characteristics which is "huge" for this short 8'L kayak. It is a perfect Kayak for me to keep on my boat and explore the coves and salt ponds which are too shallow for my boat, and fits inside my minivan. I am very happy and can't wait to try it out.

I purchased this kayak after alot of research,I wanted a stable kayak that I would be comfortable letting my grandkids use by themselves and not worry about them turning over.
I have only used it twice so far because I purchased it at the end of the season,but i am satisfied with the overall safety and ease on the water.I was able to load and unload it by myself.
It is a good kayak for the money,good construction.Would purchase again.

What a buy! Right out of the box I knew this was going to be a fun Kayak to use. I have been a kayak user for many years. As I have gotten older (61) I have had more difficulty in moving and transporting the "Wilderness Systems" kayak that I bought from REI. I had been looking for a smaller unit that I could tranport with one hand. This is that unit. It slides right into my Toyota Highlander and is light enough to just walk right down to the beach. It is very stable and appears to be quite sturdy in construction. I highly recommend this unit.

I bought this as a gift for my 72 year old father who bought himself a canoe (prior to this) and found himself tipped over in the middle of the lake on the first go. He lost his binoculars that sank down to the middle of the lake.
Instead of a canoe, he needed a kayak and although he was skeptical at first, he LOVES this product. He thought it would easily tip over and thought he would be too heavy for it (because it is so low in the water) but he loves it.
Great, safe product and quite good value for the money.

I was looking for a kayak that would be fun AND safe for all ages. We have a lake house that is used by many family members with lots of children. Our neighbor had the child's kayak made by Lifetime and I was so impressed with the ease of use. I found this one for adults. We ordered this one and also the blue version (the Lotus). The Lotus has a fabric back rest that sits low. Although this back rest is plastic, it was actually more comfortable. We used padded ski vests and it helped. We returned the Lotus and bought a second Daylite. (Other than the backrest, the kayaks are the same mold). Compared to many 'sit in' kayaks, this does not have fast tracking in the water. However, we were looking for more casual kayaking and this was PERFECT. I stood on it, jumped off in the deep water and climbed back on, hit large waves sideways, etc. to test it out. So stable!!!! You can't beat the kayak and paddle at a better price. I would recommend it to anyone over the age of 12..maybe even younger. Easy to paddle, comfortable and fun! I wish there was a carrying handle built in on both sides and an additional rope handle on the rear, those are my only complaints. Scupper plugs are included to reduce the water that comes into the kayak (and then flows out without the plugs) but be prepared to get a bit of a wet bottom anyway with some paddle drippage, etc. I highly recommend it for casual use. My husband and I have taken them out for an hour or so, too, and it was wonderful.

As others have stated...no this will not win any races but that's not what this type of yak is for. It's for casual "strolling" through calm waterways...and to that end it is perfect. Speed can easily be increased by purchasing a better paddle. The one that comes with it is quite heavy and has no curve to grab the water...you'll tire out quickly...spend a few bucks on a lighter more efficient paddle and you'll notice the increase in speed. Great storage spots, great nooks and crannies that can be adapted to a variety of uses. Hated the shoulder carrier that came with it...more cumbersome than helpful...unless you're taller than 5.5. It's easy enough to carry with the molded handle but it is 40lbs so for longer treks I recommend a kayak cart ( youtube has tons of ways to make your own for a few dollars and Marine Raider makes a great one for $59) Very very stable and easy to maneuver...squeezed into tight canals and turned with ease also and this is strange...it paddles great backwards...as I learned today while backing out of an inlet I have now dubbed Alligator Alley. Love the yak but the only accessories I am still using are the scupper plugs...however still a great value. Also a HUGE plus...fits in my HHR. Walmart made an A with their service, delivery and product!

I have yet to put it in the water as I have been flooded with company but I do know that it fits in my car, can stand on end in the garage and is a gorgeous shade of yellow. The other reviews said it was stable and having had other kayaks the grooving on the bottom should make it so. It also comes with a carry system which is helpful. I think it will be so much fun and some good exercise.

I bought this for my 13 year old son and he loves it so far, seat gives good support and kayak tracks well for a short boat. I'm 6 foot 195 and tried it out for a short paddle and it carried my weight with ease. great little boat for the money.

I bought this kayak so I could tool around on lakes. I like that it was very reasonably priced, has a comfortable backrest, and came with a paddle and a carry strap. I'm in my 50's and have middling upper body strength -- so the light weight is great! I can load it up on top of my vehicle myself. I bought separate attachable wheels -- so now I can just roll it down to the lake. It's a little bit wider than some ride on top kayaks -- which makes it stable -- but not as fast in the water as narrower ones. I'm definitely not a water-sport pro -- but for my purposes this little kayak is great!
