Don't waste your money!

I bought this product excited about finally having surround sound in my home. When I got it all unpackaged and installed, I could not get the speakers to pair. I called the customer support, and they only walk you through the same steps in the manual. I was informed the product was defective. They said I could send it in (at my own expense) and they would replace it, or I could return it to the store. I retured it and got another one, returned home set it up FINALLY got it to pair. Had great sound! The next day, guess what....it no longer would pair. I again called cs and they again told me I had a defective product. 2 for 2! I can again return it at my expense or take it back to the store. Guess what? I'll return it and purchase another brand! I had never purchased a Vizio product and thought I would give it a try. Now I know better!

Not compatible with all TV's

When using the fiber optic cable for sound it is not compatible with all tvs! We have a Panasonic TC-501S and it does Dolby digital output unless NTSC channel is selected, the sound bar requires PCM output :( Taking it back tonight.

Quit Working

The sound bar worked nicely for a few months, then quit. Tried to get assistance from the Visio call center. Their menu option didn't have a selection for this product (guess they don't realize they make it). Had to select the TV option. The person on the line was less than helpful. Obviously reading a script with the conclusion that it was the "cable box" eventhough we could not get any sound to come out of the thing using any configuration he asked me to use. Bought it at Sams, fortunately, they now have it and I have a credit on my discover card. A piece of junk.

Recieved the vizio sound bar, and it was dead out of the box. Call vizio support and emailed them my reciept. They tried to tell me date was not on the reciept which of course it was. Dates are always on reciepts, and the warranty would not apply. I told them too late I had already taken it back to a real store. Save your money and get a good sound system. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR !! This was junk and the remote is very cheaply made, no good.

Bought and Returned

I bought this sound bar, got it home, went through all the trouble of hooking it up, set back in my lazy boy and turned it on. Nothing. The sound eventually started but it was only playing intermittently. I tried some trouble shooting steps, then called Vizio, they walked me through the same trouble shooting steps. Vizio finally told me "Well sir, looks like you have a defective unit", NO DUH. They offered to replace it, but I opted to take it back and return it. I ended up purchasing a new 55" TV and sound bar from NewEgg.com. I will NEVER make the mistake of buying anything made by Vizio!

Not worth the price

the sound is ok, but I'm technology challanged and the directions aren't very good. We accidentally got it to work after messing with it for an hour, had to guess where to plug in the optical cable that we had to buy, and still haven't figured out how to make it work if we watch a regular DVD on our blue ray player. The Power bar only stays on for a short time so you have to hit the remote to see if its on. But the remote is probably the worst part about it. It's to small and you have to hit the buttons repeatedly before it will work.

Lasted only 1.5 years, just out of it's warranty.

I had problems with the product before the 1 year was up. I went through the troubling shooting each time I called, and it worked for a while. About 1.5 years into my owning it started cutting out more often and the troubling shooting stopped working. I was told to send it proof of purchase which I did, the next time I called I was told too late for a replacement. I would think a product like this $$ should last for more than a few years. Not less than two. It it not worth putting out because the sound get cuts off and on. What a waste of a lot of money. Customer service was little to no help, except to run out the time clock.

terrible product

This product says it has virtual surround not true its virtually non existent. the sound bar its self has worse sound than my tv speakers. The sub is ok but for the price it is just not worth it. I returned it promptly and got an RCA product for a lot less money and it sounds so much better

Not very user friendly unless you are familiar with electronics. Cable to hook up to receiver not included....another $30. Could not tell if bass was synced or not. The display lights are weak. Remote not very user friendly. It seemed to just make it louder. I can't justify the cost for this system.

Maybe For You, Not For Me

I bought this unit along with a new Sanyo LCD tv. I have read many good reviews about this product and decided to get it. The unit is almost the same width as the tv and blocks the tv remote from working. The remote for the unit has a very cheap look and feel about it and has it's own issues. The manual says the remote will only work within 39 degrees of center and that is correct. My chair is almost at 45 degrees and the remote will not work from that position. The couch is 11' from the unit and the remote works only sometimes. When it does work, the volume is very difficult to adjust as it wants to go to full or very low volume. I will say that we watched a few minutes of the latest Star Trek blue ray and the sound bar & sub sounded very good. We saw that it was not going to work out for us so I boxed it up and it's going back tomorrow.

I could not get the sound bar to work with my brand new 42" 3D Vizio TV. I took it back to the store and bought a Samsung Soundbar, which I brought home & plugged in and it worked out of the box. On a positive note, the Vizio product looked great and the return to Wal-Mart went smoothly.

This is a reasonably priced soundbar/sub system. It sounds decent but below are where this system falls short.
-When the sub hits the mids and highs drop off.
-The sound bar is pretty tall which blocks off the bottom of the tv screen.
-Remote is cheap.
-Remote has a vary narrow signal range.
-No indicator to let you know if the system is on or which input you have selected.
Other than the previously listed items (which I think are major), it is a budget friendly system. Its well constructed and looks very sleek. The operation and set up is easy and great for the non-techie.

..doesn't integrate with my DirectTV remote control. Sound must be adjusted by using the remote that came with the sound bar or by a Vizio compatible device. Using all access codes available does not fix the problem either.

Difficult to navigate.

I purchased this product as a present for my husband to go with the new Vizio TV we recently purchased. The sound is nice but it is difficult to navigate with the remote and doesn't always pick up the signal. It's very complicated to watch a movie because you need three different remotes to work everything. I just don't think it's worth all the hassle.

really enhances the sound quality of my television, but doesn't replace a true surround sound system while watching movies. the led feed back is pretty cheesy, as well as the remote. that being said, playing cd's and mp3's in my dvd player sound great. no need for a stereo in the room. music channels also sound great.

Good but not great

The sound is very good on the system; much better than the TVs sound. I do agree with others that the subwoofer is really strong but pretty awesome when you are watching a movie. Not so great when you are watching regular tv & the commercials come on. I am not sure what's up with the TVON button...it's supposed to keep you from getting blasted out by the commercials. However, ours starts fading after the commercial comes on and with each subsequent commercial the sound fades more & more so that when the show starts again, you have to adjust your volume back up to a comfortable level. We don't use it anymore. It does aggravate my husband that you have to point the remote directly at the bar to adjust the volume but that may be due to the remote size which is micro. Also, be very aware of what connections your TV may or may not have. I had to order a converter because the TV had HD Coaxial out but the Soundbar only has RCA & Spdif in. Found the converter I needed online at Smart Home...no one else had one that I found. So I had to wait to finish hooking everything up before we could use the bar on everything - and everything that's plugged into the TV does come out thru the soundbar.

Original equipment did not work correctly out of the box. After trouble shooting with Vizio, had to wait for another unit to be shipped. Wasn't very happy with the way Vizio handled the situation, since unit was no good out of box, and I ended up having to wait another two weeks to get a new one. They acted like they were doing me a big favor. After receiving new unit, it is working fine and is a good value for the money. Hopefully this one lasts a little longer!

This sound bar VSB210WS sounds good. Is it going to blow you away? No. But for the price and the fact that it is not 5.1, it does sound good. It sounds very clear. It has great highs and mids in the sound bar. The sub could be a little better, as I read reviews before buying this and my expectations were a little higher. I knew this wasn't going to be like a 5.1 surround sound system prior to purchasing this, however, I did expect a little better bass. I do have a living room that opens up to the kitchen and dining room, so that could be the reason. I'm sure if this was in a smaller room with 4 walls it would rock.
One consideration prior to purchasing this unit. The subwoofer is wireless, which is great, however, be aware that it is WIRELESS and it can interfere with other wireless activity in your household, such as internet. I have a problem with this interference, as if this soundbar is on, I cannot be on my laptop. It took me a while to figure out why I was not connecting to the internet but I did figure it out after a while. So anytime I want to use my internet I have to turn the sound bar off and turn the T.V. speakers on.
Some people said they could not control their Direct TV remote with the soundbar. I programmed mine with no issues. It turns it on/off, and volume/mute controls.
Over all very nice system and I am happy with it. I guess I'm just spoiled with a 5.1 system prior to this. It is nice if you don't want speakers and wires all over the place, which I didn't.
For a small to medium sized room, yes. Large room,... ehhh. Maybe.

Incompatible with DISH TV learning remote

This product works as advertised with a great big caveat: It's not a good match for Dish TV.
Specifically, I wanted to buy an aftermarket sound system to work with my Vizio VX42L television (which lacks variable audio outputs) and my Dish TV receiver. My goal was to have a single remote control govern power on and off, volume up and down, and channel up and down, as my wife won't use a remote control that requires operation of anything more complex than that.
There IS a way to map a device like the Soundbar as an AUX device on the Dish learning remote and then to have the remote control the Soundbar's volume rather than the television's. To do that, Vizio only would have had to provide a three-digit remote code. However, Vizio chose not to do so. (It does provide four- and five-digit codes for use with other remotes.) Further, the Dish TV's "search code" function did not recognize the Soundbar. As a result, we need to use two remote controls (one to change channels and the other to control volume) when using this product with Dish.
Since no one wants to add ever more remote controls to the collection, especially just to control volume, this unit is a non-starter with Dish, and buyer beware if you want to use it with a Dish setup. If you are not a Dish user, it probably will meet your needs, with decent sound for a decent price.
