The First Years The First Years - Breastflow Bottle Starter Set, BPA Free
The First Years Breastflow Bottle Starter Set is widely recommended for new mothers who are in favor of breast feeding. This product is very similar to breast feeding as its mechanism involves suction and compression, thus allowing the baby to control the flow of milk. These BPA-free Breastflow bottles are easy to put together and easy to clean too. The Breastflow bottle has a patented 2-in-1 nipple system that closely mimics the feel and action of breastfeeding, allowing the baby to have a satisfied and comfortable feed in the absence of the babys mother. The First Years Breastflow Bottle Starter Set consists of two 5 fl oz bottles with two nipples and bottle covers, two 9 fl oz bottles with two nipples and bottle covers, a snap-to-bottle container and a bottle brush. My daughter has a really hard time nursing but we still try. I bought these bottles hoping to make bottle and breast feeding more similar. I give the makers an A for effort but the product just fell short of my expectations. I like the large surface area of the outer nipple because she does really well with a similar Soothie nipple, and how the inner nipple makes baby work for the milk rather than it pouring out of a standard nipple. I really love the concept of mimicking the compression and baby-controlled flow of nursing but it seems to only work in theory. The instructions state that the outer nipple may collapse and that's normal so I was prepared for that. However, the nipple collapsed in such a shape (with 4 "corners") that milk just ran down my baby's chin the entire feeding. When she nurses she creates a somewhat flattened shape but doesn't leak or suck air. With these open corners she gulped in air and that in no way mimicks a good latch. She was losing milk and ingesting air making her gas worse not better. And I always like to give my daughter every last drop in a bottle and that's impossible with these. There will be milk left in the outer nipple that she can't suck out, while she's sucking air through the inner nipple from the empty bottle. Again, gas issues. I really really wished these bottles didn't have the collapsing/shape problem because I love the idea of giving her a bottle that's so much like breast feeding in other ways. I would still recommend these to a friend in hopes they worked better for their baby but would advise to buy one instead of a set like I did.

Great bottles but cheap bottle brush!

This product doesn't cut corners except for the cheap skinny bottle brush they make sure they give you 4 quality lids and nipples to the bottles plus the bottles and an extra container for like formula powder and what not. My breastfed daughter will take this bottle even though she's mostly breast fed.

never worked for us

I'm a first time breastfeeding mom and I purchased these because they are supposed to be like a breast for the baby. My little one was never able to latch on properly and my husband was too impatient to attempt to make it work. I only recommend this to someone that plans on spending as long on teaching their baby how to feed from one of these as they did teaching their baby how to breastfeed.

My baby was 3 weeks early and had trouble nursing. These bottles are the only ones that worked with us and actually helped her succeed with breastfeeding. Wish we could have found them in stores and not just online

These bottles are a life saver!!! I love the Medela so I used those for 5 months but always struggled with th flow, my daughter would have to stop and take a breath then eat and let go again. With these, because of the controlled flow and the nipple insert, she can hold on for a long time and focus on eating which helps me get her to bed a lot faster!!

I am breastfeeding my daughter and ever since i went back to work, we have struggled to find a bottle that she would take. It has been difficult. She didnt like any bottle we tried. She finally would drink out of these but we had to take out the blue insert. I think she likes the softness of the outer nipple. This is my 3rd baby and i have never had problems getting the other 2 to drink out of a bottle. I guess they are all different. Nonetheless, these bottles are the only ones she seems to like but not necessarily because of the "technology" of them. But, my husband can feed her while im at work and thats all that matters.

So I am not impressed at all. The milk fills up in between the nipples very quickly. Just a regular bottle. Nothing special like I was expecting. I'm really dissatisfied. :(

Perfect flow for my little guy compared to other that flowed too fast, choking my baby, even with the smallest leveled nipples. Easy transition between breast and bottle. Easy to clean.

I always buy these for baby shower gifts when I know my friends want to do both bottle and breast feed. These are fantastic bottles and I have never had a problem with a child refusing either the bottle or the boob with these like I have seen happen so many times with other brands of bottles. Would reccomend these to everyone!!!

Using these bottles got my 14 week old from breast and bottle to strictly breast. When I would go to work, he would have a hard time transitioning back to breast. Now, he doesn't hesitate to nurse!!! When he takes this bottle, it mimics a letdown effect then he has to work for he milk! Overall, very pleased with our experience!!!

They say not to introduce a bottle if you are going to breastfeed for at least 6 weeks or something like that, my daughter was given this bottle at only a day old after she had to be taken to Children's Hospital for further testing. She had latched on to me PERFECTLY at the birthing hospital before she was given this bottle and had no problem what so ever latching right back on to me when all the testing was over with. My husband even fed her for a whole day with this bottle and the next day she was latching on to me still with no problem. I love this bottle and HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend it to any mother who is going to be breast/bottle feeding.

I`ve bought this bottle starter when I got pregnant after 13 and a half years and wanted the best for my baby! it`s very easy to use and I also had problems after a while with leaks but I learnt that because there are two nipples, they get a little space between the two, just an extra squeeze to tighten does the trick: no leaks!! A happy baby is a very happy mother....
