Sunlight destroys things, especially pool toys, and keeping the rain off of our stuff also helps it to last. Some folks say their boxes leaked, and maybe they did - but I followed assembly instructions and when I opened it this morning after an all-day Florida rain yesterday, the only water in the box is the little bit that dripped off the lid when I opened it. Assembly was easy and although I feel it is priced too high, my wife and I are both pleased that we bought it.
But if you're on the heavy side, don't count on using it as a bench. It does okay with my 225 lbs but anything above that will be questionable IMO.

We have been very dry -- very little rain since we put this together. Well, we got about 3" of rain last night... and guess what? Yep! there was about 1" of rain in the bottom of the storage unit. I am really disappointed as I really like the style of this. But as far as keeping anything inside, NOPE! We will continue to stack up seat cushions and other items in our garage. Bummer! I am sure we have had it too long to return it, so we will just have to put up with it. Bummer!

THIS DECK BOX & PATIO BENCH IS PERFECT FOR OUR DECK. THE STORAGE AT THE BOTTOM OF IT IS JUST WHAT WE WANTED TO PUT BESIDE OUR HOT TUB FOR ALL THE CHEMICAL STORAGE.
ANOTHER THING WE LIKE IS THE BENCH ON TOP. WE PUT A CUSHION ON IT & THAT MAKES IT VERY COMFORTABLE OR WHEN WE NEED MORE SEATING OUT ON THE DECK.

My purpose for purchasing this item was to store garden/plant supplies and provide seating in the garden as well. A few days after I assembled it (that was a snap!), it rained. Fortunately the only thing I had put in the bench was a bag of potting soil, otherwise, my fertilizers would have been ruined! I guess it's not waterproof!
I would recommend this product to friends with a caveat on what they store.
If I wanted waterproof, I guess I should have bought Rubbermaid, but I liked the look of this bench better.

Purchased to store pool equipment and for extra seating. Assembly was a snap, no tools, good instructions and it only took 10 minutes. Piece is sturdy enough to sit on and it is the same size as my wicker lawn love seats so the same cushions fit. We had 3 inches of rain overnight and it did leak a little so I just drilled a couple of holes on the bottom plate and it doesn't hold water. Excellent buy compared to the other deck boxes I looked at. Free delivery to local Walmart is a plus.

I was very disappointed when I took this out of the box because it was very flimsy. I was afraid I wouldn't even be able to sit on it after i put it together, but it was very sturdy after I got it together. The directions were easy to follow and no tools are needed because it all just snaps together, and that was somewhat difficult and required a little strength to snap it together.. Also, sometimes it didn't "snap" so it was a little hard to know if I had it fully in place. Overall, I am satisfied with it, but I think the price was a little high. I'm thinking more around $49 or $59 at the most. The storage bench I wanted to order was discontinued by Walmart so I settled for this one.
I would not have purchased it for a bench alone. I needed something for my front porch, where I feed several stray cats (that I have trapped and had spay/neutered and vaccinated). I plan to install a cat door in one end and put a heated pad inside so they can find some warmth and shelter. The fact that the seat lifts up allows me access to keep it clean.

I have other deck storage boxes and thought that one with a seat would be nice. It could searve two needs but had never seen one until I got an ad from another company. So I did a search and found that Walmart sold the same product and at a considerable less price than others were selling it for.
It's strong and has room enough to store all my extra patio needs. It was easy to assemble even though I didn't find the instruction untill after I got it together. They were in a cardbord packing spacer that I pulled out when unpacking the unit.
One word of warning if you are not macnical inclined make sure that you find the instruction because once you snap the parts together it is next to imposible to disasemble them

This bench was exactly what we were looking for. We did not want to spend a whole lot, but needed something decent-looking to put by our back door to hold all my husband's workshoes, which tend to collect in that area. This was easy to put together -- I did it in about ten minutes -- and it holds all the shoes plus provides a spot for him to sit down and put them on, or a place for me to dump the groceries so I can open the door. The bench is a nice neutral color which blends well with our house, and it seems very sturdy and durable. Wish we had found it nine years ago when we first moved in here!

I'm very surprised by some of the reviews I've read that say this bench leaks. I have two of them - going on 3 years now, and they sit outside, unprotected, and year-round, in severe cold/snow, heat and rainstorms - typical Nebraska weather - and I've never had even one drop of water in either bench. When you put it together, make sure ALL sides are snapped together very securely. A rubber mallet worked well for me.

purchased this for additional seating on my porch, because of storage area I can place my trash bags in it during week, then put out for pick-up............bench looks good, and is sturdy, was just what I needed and is used on a daily basis, solved my problems and provides a sitting place for others...............I placed a dog mat on it and my Min Schnauzer enjoys laying on it, she now can check out the neighborhood without standing up.......................great bench

After a dozen years in the house, I finally convinced my mother to buy some outdoor furniture. I was hoping she'd go for the wooden (teak) bench, but she liked this because a) it has a back and b) it was cheaper.
A - The back really doesn't matter unless you are putting this thing against something that is uncomfortable or some place that you couldn't prop some pillows against. For us, these were going against a wall and some simple throw pillows would have sufficed.
B - Cheaper, yes. But boy by golly did we get what we paid for. The pieces barely fit together, it feels flimsy and cheap. And I'll be surprised if these make it to next year.
Bottom line, I would not recommend, I would not buy again, and if it wasn't so much of a hassle to have built, then I would return it.

Best Deck Box out there - because it has arms and a backrest where you can sit - and store your shoes - I haven't found another one that had all these features. This is the 2nd one we purchased because it is the BEST.

Quite pleased with my purchase. It was easy to put together using a rubber mallet and fit perfectly where I wanted to put it. I was a little disappointed that it was not quite as sturdy as I had expected. Oterwise, it is great!
