The picture shows the ball finial to be black or very dark brown. It is actually a brass color and almost as bright as the leaf decoration. I simply painted over the brass color with a black enamel paint and got the effect I wanted.

I ordered these curtain rods online & received them a few days later. I was very happy when I opened the packages and saw them. They are very elegant looking, & well made. They are fairly easy to install and make such a dramatic difference on a wall that was pretty bland looking!
