Hoover Platinum Bagless Upright Vacuum

I needed to purchase a new vacuum after my Bissell Healthy Home was no longer was effective. I did the research and this was the only vacuum that consistently had high reviews. I purchased mine from Bed-Bath & Beyond and with their 20 percent off coupon offer, I saved $60. I got this for under $250.

I wouldn't say this vacuum is the best I ever had, but it does a good job. My biggest complaint with this is that the suction could be stronger. Other than that, it's great. It is much more lightweight than I thought and I need something that will not irritate my back. Overall, it is a good buy if you can get it for less than $300 as I did.

I have new carpeting which is thick and doesn't stay clean. I have seen this item on t.v. (HSN) and the price was higher than this. Wal-Mart always comes through for those on a budget.
I tried this unit once and it really SUCKS!! I never knew my carpet was that dirty, I am so glad I got this. I wish I used it more, (too lazy). The unit is heavy, and I do not like that the tools are not able to be attached to the unit.
Other than that if you're looking to get a vacuum that works, THIS IS THE ONE!!

I like everything about this vacuum. I like that I can use it on more than one surface. Easy to maneuver and it has great suction.

I bought this vacuum purely on appearance. I have owned good and bad Hoovers in the past, and decided to try this one. It is heavy and difficult to push unless I put it on a different setting and then it doesn't pick up well. I thought it would come with a longer wand or extension and a pet hair brush. That being said, I do like it and it seems to have a lot of power. The last Hoover I had, had a tendency to tip over and this one does not. All in all, if you have a little muscle power, I think you will be happy with this vacuum. I will add, however, that I saw this vacuum in WalMart in Ohio and I live in South Carolina where it isn't available at any stores within 100 miles of my home. Consequently, I had to order it online.

We were ready to take the plunge and get a Dyson when I stumbled upon the Hoover Platinum Bagless Upright. It was $298 at Walmart - over $150 cheaper than I have seen it elsewhere, had a fantastic warranty and decent reviews. I decided to pocket the other $200 I would have spent on the Dyson and give this one a go.

This thing SUCKS...in a good way! I'm a clean freak who gets excited by carpet lines left by vacuums. I cannot express the pleasure I get by using this vacuum. It's really, truly powerful and I'm really confident my house is dust and allergen-free by what I see this thing sucking up everytime I use it.

Other pros: Extra long cord - I can do my entire 1700 sq. ft first floor without replugging. It is super easy to move the brush up or down or turn it off all together for the hardwoods with a touch of a button located right at the top of the handle. And the headlights on this thing are cooler than the ones on my car. It also has a neat little "clean" vs. "dirty" sign that pops up when it senses ground in dirt. It's also much quieter than it's competitors which is nice.

Things that are so-so: Cleaning the dirt chamber...not exactly easy or foolproof. But I've read the same with all bagless vacuums including the Dyson. I now empty it in a bag outside. Lesson learned. I also wish the attachments were slightly improved...a longer hose and bigger brush. There are no other attachments on this machine, but that didn't bother me...I never use anything else but those two anyway.

Things I would change: I have to admit, it has pretty poor front and side suction. It's not a dealbreaker, but definitely not a strength on this vacuum. Would love to see that improve. But my biggest complaint is that it is virtually impossible to vacuum the stairs with this machine because there is no lower handle to grab to bring it up and down. I somehow manage to manhandle it and get the job done, but it's not easy. Not sure why that was overlooked in the design of this thing.

Overall, I'd buy it again and recommend it to a friend. Like I said, I can't imagine a more powerful machine. But it's not perfect...though with a couple of changes it could be!

I received a lot more in being easily maneuvered, in the strength of the suction, and in appearance, than I expected for the price. No more "cheapies" for me. You actually end up paying more since they have to be replaced so often. Thank you to Hoover, and your association with Walmart.

My vacuum is extremely new, but MAN, I love it!! Who needs a $1000. vacuum..
So far, so good.

I love the fact that I am able to vacuum not only my carpets, but at the touch of a button, I am able to vacuum my bare floors. It was a little spendy and a bit heavy, but I wanted to get a good quality vacuum. It could use a few more accessory tools and a wand extension to reach the very low and high places.

But overall, I am very satisfied with my Hoover vacuum. I would definitely recommend this to anyone. It really gets the dirt and lets you know with the dirty/clean indicator.

This vacuum is AMAZING!!! I was so shocked at how much dirt it sucked up, it kinda made me ill:) The price is crazy, but I think it is worth it. Hopefully all the plastic bits won't break.
