I've had this vacuum for only two weeks and I LOVE it. It is very powerful and quiet. I use the small vacuum for my wood floors and it has great power as well. It's really handy and lightweight too. My family loves the little vacuum for cleaning up around the house. We had a Hoover, but it was heavy and clunky. This is sleek and SO LIGHT! Definite must buy for anyone.

Powerful, light and convenient

We've gone through numerous vacuums and all seem to have some type of downside. The Hoover Platinum UH30010COM seems to have the best blend of features and value that we have experienced. The two vacuum design (one standup and one portable) is a great convenience and optimization of features. This allows the upright to be very light (at 11 lbs it is almost 50% lighter than most uprights). The portable is very convenient for tight spaces and especially the stairs. My wife used to dangerously use the hose attachment from our old upright on the stairs. Also I believe the bagged design is superior to a bagless design. The bag is huge and provides a much cleaner sanitary disposal of collected dust and carpet fibers. The one drawback is that the upright can be hard to push on densely packed carpet. To be fair, many vacuums have the same issue. Our Eureka vacuum is impossible to push. This Hoover is difficult to push on some of our carpets but is still acceptable. If it wasn't for this we would give it a 5 star rating.

Bought this particular vacuum on a recommendation from Consumers Guide. It is amazing at cleaning and not as loud as others. It also came with the floor vacuum and it is powerful too. Would buy again in a second. Good price too. I have long haired cats and there is no problem with their fur clogging anything up.v

I've only used it once but was immediately impressed with the light weight and power together in one machine. It's very easy to use and does a good job, especially on the edges of the carpet next to the wall. I'm not thrilled about having a separate machine for cleaning upholstery, curtains, and other "unreachables", but it's not a big deal. I love this vacuum.

Terrific upright vaccum. Very lightweight, easy to carry up stairs. Great powerful suction. Additional canister is powerful and compact enough to throw over your shoulder and do upholestery, stairs, bare floors. Overall great value and arrived sooner than expected.

Very pleased with the Hoover Anniversary Special Vac Package. The portable is so light, compact and powerful for it's size! I must use wheelchair assistance and the upright is easy to use and does and excellent job on dirt removal. Thank you for these to ducts I am so pleased.

Pros: very easy to handle pushing forward - a little more strength is needed to pull back, good suction, feels sturdy, easy to push on carpets. I was tired of dragging a cannister behind me, which always got stuck on corners and doorways. The long cord is great, I can do 3 rooms without unplugging.
Cons: Having used a cannister for 30 years, I want to be finished with a room - once - not have to return to clean baseboards and edges,etc. with the included portable machine. Also there are platform steps in my house and the nozzle doesn't fit under them - hence, the portable has to be brought out.

I don't care for the attachments being on a separate vacuum. They both work very well, but now I have to lug two separate vacuums around. I realize they probably did this to make the upright light and easy to push around, and they certainly accomplished that, but it is a pain to have to use two vacuums. That being said, the upright is so light, so easy to use, and works so well, that I would still say it was worth it. If not for the two separate vacuums, it would have certainly received 5 stars from me.

We have new carpet: Shaw style Q3988 100% polyester. 68.30oz. It's a frieze type. I think this vacuum sucks so hard it just can't move on this thick carpet. I have to push it with all my weight! I already returned the Dyson canister because it didn't have a power head, the brush turned by the air flow which this carpet cut off! This is getting rediculous. So I borrowed my mom's new Oreck lightweight and it works great. The Oreck has big back tires. This hoover works fine on my low basement carpet. And I really like the shoulder strap canister. It's light to carry, but does need some way to roll up and store the cord.

Good build quality. Excellent quality bags. Wide cleaning path with smaller form factor for storage. Using a separate hand held great idea: Easily and thoroughly vacuum carpets and rugs then have a separate device designed to handle all other tasks better than hooking devices onto a cumbersome upright. Noticeably more suction and cleaning ability than the "all-in-one" uprights. Had durability issues with the lower cost, Star Trek looking uprights from numerous brands - got tired of all the defects. Just bought a quality machine, paid the price, and found it well worth it.

After months of shopping for a vacuum cleaner that was effective, inexpensive and NO CANISTERS (your need a separate vacuum cleaner to clean the canisters and they emit dirt in the air when you vacuum even with a HEPA filter), I found one!!
Looked at Oreck, Dyson...Oreck expensive if you want the attachments. Dyson is basically a canister.
I think whoever designed this Hoover was a female, lol.
Firstly, I have 5 dogs, although 3 are shi tzus (don't shed) the other 2 are not and do shed. I have rugs and hardwood floor. I found that you can vacuum both with no problems. The Portable Canister...I loved it since I use those tools often, especially on ceiling fans. The only improvements in this unit would be the noise level of the motor and perhaps a little bigger dirt bag. I use ear plugs.
The light weight and maneuverability is a PLUS, since I am not as young anymore it is easier on my back.
I personally highly recommend this vacuum cleaner.
I hope I feel the same way in a year or two, lol. I just hope it does not break down too soon.

The vacuum sucks up the dirt great on rugs & floors. It is super light & moves easily back & forth with little effort. Would have given it 5 stars if the upright also had the capability to use the attachments.

Very lightweight!! And lots of power. The cannister vac with long telescoping wand is also great with lots of power. Great for cobwebs in the corner. Best part about vaccuum is how lightweight it is for the amount of power.

There were things to like about the Hoover, but enough things to not like that I returned it after a week.
-I like automatic height adjustment, but it is done poorly on this vacuum; it does not lower enough to fluff up the carpet. I think it is because the small "height wheels" are in front of the beater bar and keep it too high off the ground. The small wheels on my old Oreck were behind the beater bar so it got closer to the carpet. The vacuum has very good suction, but the carpet does not have that nice fluffy look after vacuuming.
-The vacuum is light weight, but poor ergonomics made using it a chore. It hurt my shoulder and neck every time I used it. I also noticed I was much more tired after vacuuming my house with the Hoover than with my other vacuum.
-The power cord is nice and long, but of very poor lightweight quality. It frequently made knots of itself, and I would have to stop, go over to it, and unwind the knots. I also ran over the cord once...if you did that many times, your cord will be eaten up.
-The furniture guard did not work well...it left a scuff in some molding.
I wanted to like the vacuum, as it seemed a good update to an Oreck. It had nice controls, a full bag light, and has good suction. But I ended up returning it as it doesn't fluff up the carpet, didn't seem to get up dog hair as well, and it's poor ergonomics made using it a chore.

I'm so happy I purchased this vacuum. I was debating between this one , and another leading lightweight brand. After reading several reviews on this one, and the other one, and comparing the features of both, I decided to go with the hoover Platinum. I absolutely love this vacuum. The suction is great, and I have a pet, so it's put to the test ! It's lightweight,and extremely easy to maneuver. The bright LED light is very helpful, and I also like that it has a warning light that's displayed when the bag is full, so it takes the guess work out of that. I've also used the small portable vac that came with this one, and I'm happy with the performance, and guality of it too. To sum it up, both are a very good value, and I would highly recommend them. Also my order was shipped ,and delivered when promised.
